Shivraj Singh Chouhan meets Rajasthan CM, discuss agriculture, rural development schemes

New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday met with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and discussed various matters related to the comprehensive development of the rural and agricultural sectors, the ministry said in a statement.
The progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) was also discussed during the meeting. Chouhan noted that the implementation of this important scheme has been commendable in Rajasthan, with several large-scale surveys being conducted already.
He assured that the approval for the construction of additional houses will be granted without delay as soon as the verification of the ongoing surveys is completed. A total of 7.46 lakh houses are to be built in Rajasthan, including those under the PM-JANMAN scheme. The meeting also covered discussions on the National Rural Livelihoods Mission.
On agricultural issues, the discussion focused on the implementation progress of schemes such as 'Per Drop More Crop' under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), the construction of pond-like tanks to harvest rainwater, and fencing around fields.
They also discussed notable agricultural advancements in the Bassi region of Jaipur.
CM Sharma expressed interest in establishing agricultural supervisors at the Gram Panchayat level with the help of the central government Other key topics discussed during the meeting included strengthening interstate trade, notifying Rajasthan's superior peanut varieties, and promoting the state's popular castor oil.
Sharma also informed Chouhan about the good progress of monsoon in Rajasthan this year, adding that favourable rainfall is expected to yield a significantly better harvest in 2025.

The Minister of State for Telecom made the remarks while speaking on the sidelines of a BSNL review meeting. 'Starlink can have only 20 lakh customers in India and offer up to 200 Mbps speed. That won't affect telecom services,' the minister said. What Will Satcom Services Do? Satcom services are expected to target rural and remote areas where BSNL is known to have a significant presence..A government official mentioned that the limit on Starlink connections is due to its existing capacity. The minister said that the upfront cost for satcom services will be too high and the monthly cost may be around Rs 3,000. The minister also said that BSNL 4G rollout is complete and it does not plan to increase tariffs as of now. 'We want market first. There are no tariff hikes planned,' he said. What Minister Said On BSNL Future Plans? The minister said that BSNL has seen a 20-30 per cent increase in revenue in the first quarter of the current fiscal year due to the rollout of 4G services and technology is settling down. 'Earlier, there were some technical issues but over 90 per cent of them have been sorted out. There were issues around power stations. 30,000 power stations have been replaced with an expenditure of around Rs 600-700 crore,' Pemmasani said, adding that improvement in power supplies has resulted in higher uptime for BSNL networks and enhanced customer's experience. 'Each circle is being given individual targets in terms of increasing subscriber base,' he said, adding that BSNL has had a lot of legacy issues that are being resolved now. When asked about the status of Chinese equipment in BSNL, the minister said that the government plans to continue using indigenous technologies in the state-run firm and it will gradually phase out 2G and 3G equipment and do away with the need for maintenance of that equipment. Delhi: MCD removes need for factory licence for firms in industrial area
New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has done away with the requirement of a factory licence for setting up manufacturing units in recognised industrial areas. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the move will bolster the ease of doing business in Delhi. The MCD in a recent order removed the need for a separate factory licence for units operating within industrial areas established by the DSIIDC, a Delhi government agency. The Monday order states that factory units in industrial areas will no longer need to obtain or renew an independent factory licence under sections 416 and 417 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Act, 1957. In its stead, under the new licensing rules, the micro, small and medium enterprises will be issued an 'MSME Udhyam Registration Certificate.' For larger industrial units, the allotment letter or lease deed issued by GNCTD or DSIIDC will serve as the deemed licence, the order said. The factory owners will, however, be required to pay a licence fee equivalent to 5 per cent of the annual property tax at the time of paying the tax, it said. The order also said that this deemed licensing arrangement will be applicable not only in conforming industrial areas but also in unplanned industrial clusters notified by the Delhi government.
