Chris Buescher Devastated After Falling Short With 'Fastest Car on Track'
Despite a second-place finish at the Michigan International Speedway, Chris Buescher seemed upset about the "missed opportunity" that cost him the NASCAR Cup Series race win.
RFK Racing had a great race weekend at Michigan, considering all three cars it fielded finished within the top ten. Buescher finished behind race winner Denny Hamlin, while Ryan Preece and Brad Keselowski finished in ninth and tenth.
Despite the remarkable team effort, Buescher took it on himself after the race, especially considering that he had one of the fastest cars. One factor that likely set him back was that his car took longer to refuel, which then followed undesired race restarts. Speaking to FOX Sports' Bob Pockrass, he said:
Chris Buescher, driver of the #17 Kroger/OIKOS Ford, walks the grid during practice for the NASCAR Cup Series Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway on May 31, 2025 in Lebanon, Tennessee.

And that's what let the 11, 54, then the 38 by. That moment was my error, and realistically cost us to win today, because we were better than the 11 car.
"Proud of the team for giving me that car, and that opportunity. I'd love to have it back, but that's not an option. A lot of speed, fantastic race for us. Big solid day but just feels like a missed opportunity."

Speaking to NBC Sports, Buescher stated that the team needs some luck on their side to win. He said:
"We certainly need a little bit of good luck or fortune on our side. This is a day where we kind of made our own. We were really fast and worked hard to be there and just didn't have any bad luck, so that put us with a shot to win.
"After the last handful of weeks with having speed in the first stage and qualifying and not being able to get the race finish that was certainly big, but it's frustrating to be that close and to know that we had a car that was capable of winning. I just needed to do a better job."
He added:
"That was such a fast Mustang. I really appreciate everybody on this team working so hard to put us in this situation and to have a chance to win. I'm disappointed I didn't get it done. It's on me. I had a couple different decisions I would love to go back and make and ultimately should have had us ahead of the 11. We were faster on the day and I didn't do a good enough job."

Vikings Sideline WR Justin Jefferson With 'Very Mild' Hamstring Strain
The Minnesota Vikings will keep wide receiver Justin Jefferson off the field for a while because of a mild strain of his left hamstring. Coach Kevin O'Connell said before practice on Friday that Jefferson would be re-evaluated next week. The two-time All-Pro, who has the most receiving yards in NFL history over a player's first five years, felt some tightness in his leg during the team's session on Thursday and cut short his participation as a precaution. The Vikings sent him for an MRI exam afterward. O'Connell described the injury as "very mild" and said he had no concerns about Jefferson being ready for the season opener at Chicago on Sept. 8, which is more than six weeks away. Still, considering his value to the team, the type of injury and the demands of his position, Jefferson figures to miss more than just a few days of training camp practices. Jefferson suffered a significant strain of his right hamstring in 2023 that caused him to miss seven games. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? MLB Speedway Classic: First Look at Braves-Reds at Bristol Motor Speedway
We've got our first look at the backdrop for next weekend's highly anticipated MLB Speedway Classic — a regular-season tilt between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds on August 2 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. The game — which will be played on a field that was constructed inside of Bristol Motor Speedway, one of NASCAR's most iconic and popular tracks that seats 146,000 fans — will be the first MLB game played in Tennessee. You can watch all the action starting at 7:15 p.m. ET on FOX. Friday's stadium reveal comes three days after the league unveiled the uniforms for both teams. The Braves' cap features flames on the top of the visor, while the Reds' cap has checkered racing flags across its visor, per MLB. The league, which is looking for opportunities to host games at non-traditional venues, originally announced the MLB Speedway Classic in August 2024. The dimensions of the field at Bristol are 330 feet down the lines, 375 feet to the right-field alley, 384 feet to the left-field alley and 400 feet to straightaway center, per MLB's official announcement. This isn't the first sporting event that Bristol Motor Speedway has hosted. The first football game played there was in 1961 between Philadelphia and Washington — a preseason NFL game. The most notable event at Bristol took place much more recently, though. The "Battle at Bristol," a college football game between Tennessee and Virginia Tech in September 2016, still holds the all-time attendance record for a college game at 156,990, per Bleacher Report.
