I Binged Watched The Terminal List, And I'm So Happy Taylor Kitsch's Character Is Getting A Spinoff (It's Necessary)
I don't know about you, but I felt just as blindsided as James Reece (Chris Pratt) was at the end of The Terminal List when he found out that his friend and confidant, Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch), had betrayed him. Now, obviously, I get why Ben did this, because he explained his reasoning before he was killed. However, there's still so much more to this story, I can just tell. So, thank goodness we're getting a spinoff on the 2025 TV schedule all about this complex character.
How The Terminal List Ended For Ben Edwards
So, I did not contribute to The Terminal List's 1.6 billion minutes watched when it originally came out in 2022. I binged it with my Amazon Prime subscription weeks before Dark Wolf's premiere. Therefore, knowing Taylor Kitsch was getting his own show played a big part in my interpretation of and shock over the series.
This shocking instance I'm referring to is the scene where we find out that Ben was involved in the conspiracy that ultimately led to James' team and family dying. That was confirmed in the show's finale when Ben said:
Admiral swore you were already dead. Said you and the boys had tumors. And I thought 'Let 'em die with their fucking boots on rather than in some hospital bed.'
Then, when James asked if Ben did this for his friends or for $20 million, Kitsch's character replied with:
Maybe both, at first. I haven't spent a fucking dime. I can't. But you should know, I need you to know, that it's set in fucking stone. Laura and Luce, I had nothing to do with it. And when I found out, I wanted to set the fucking world on fire, brother. I was with you. Every step. Cleaning up all those motherfuckers that took them. That's the truth.

There wasn't much explanation past that, and James ended up shooting his friend. Now, as we move into The Terminal List Season 2, I can't help but wonder how that betrayal and choice will impact James. However, a bigger question on my mind is: What led Ben to do this? Well, thankfully, his spinoff from one of Amazon's best shows might give us an answer.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf Will Serve As Ben's Origin Story
Here's why I'm so relieved Ben is getting his spinoff, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf: I need to know when and why he changed and lost his undying loyalty to Reece and co. When did he decide to betray his brothers? What changed him to the point where he felt like he could or had to make the choice? How did his time in the CIA change him after he left the SEALs?
Thankfully, it seems like The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will answer at least some of those questions. The series, which premieres its first three episodes on Wednesday, August 27, will serve as Ben's origin story. Amazon's synopsis states that it will follow Kitsch's character 'throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations.' It also promises to be an 'espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the cost that comes with it.'
I'm really hopeful that we'll get some necessary backstory here that adds some depth to Ben's moral greyness, and I personally can't wait to watch it. That feeling increased tenfold when I re-watched the trailer for Dark Wolf after seeing the original series, and heard Ben say:
When we step on that battlefield, we fight for each other. This is why it's so hard to give up that brotherhood.
So, that tells me we'll get to see some events play out that lead to him ultimately giving up this 'brotherhood' he found in the military. The trailer, which you can see below, also features Tom Hopper's Raife Hastings talking about the importance of knowing how to find the breaks and stop as a whole bunch of violence happens.
It seems like Ben is a loose cannon, looser than he was in The Terminal List, and that will likely play into the choices he makes that eventually lead to his fatal fate at the end of the original series.
The Terminal List is one of Taylor Kitsch's best projects, and his character was such a fascinating part of the series. So, I'm thrilled he's getting a spinoff, and we might finally get some backstory to the biggest betrayal of Season 1.

'The Pickup': Eddie, Keke, Pete & the Chaos That Made Movie Magic

In The Pickup , dropping August 6 on Prime Video, two armored truck drivers — the seasoned, grumpy Russell (Murphy) and the wide-eyed, unpredictable Travis (Davidson) — find themselves caught in a heist gone spectacularly sideways, led by Zoe (Palmer), a savvy, maybe-justified villain with more than money on her mind. Directed by Tim Story, this action-comedy throwback pulls its punches only to land harder with every twist, gag, and explosion. 'This pairing of Eddie and Pete — it's the combo you didn't realize you needed. And then you add Keke? A bag of riches. I'm an '80s comedy kid, and this was my dream project.' 'Call Me, Eddie' — Keke's Dream Come True Keke Palmer didn't hold back when asked what it was like to share the screen with Murphy. 'Honestly, it was a dream come true,' she gushed. 'I worked with Pete before, so that was fun, but with Eddie, I think I was just watching him the whole time. Just observing how his mind works. Every joke, every improvisation — he plays the truth. It's a masterclass.' Eddie noticed. 'Yeah, I felt that,' he said with a laugh. 'She was always taking little peeps at me.' Keke didn't deny it. 'I was just like, 'Is this really Eddie?' Like, the same guy from Nutty Professor ? I asked him his favorite movie, and it turned out Nutty Professor was my favorite too. Those characters were so real. Comedy, but truthful. That's what I want to do.' By the end of the shoot, she said she was ready for round two. 'Call me, Eddie. Seriously.' An Antihero with Swagger and a Soft Spot Palmer's Zoe isn't your average action villain. She's layered — and maybe even relatable. 'She's a villain, but I saw her more as an antihero,' Keke explained. 'She's trying to get these guys on board. There's a bit of romance with Pete's character, even if she's not admitting it. And she kind of wants Eddie's character to believe in her. She's looking for validation.' There was also a lot of improv on set. 'Oh, a lot of stuff Pete said will never see the light of day,' Keke teased. Pete laughed: 'I was saying some foul sh*t. Some of it's in there. Tim was really trusting. We'd get one as scripted, and then just mess around. Some of the best moments are us just being idiots.' Cutting the Chaos: Tim Story's Balancing Act With so much footage, the editing room became its own adventure. 'I'm a slave to the comedy rules,' Tim Story said. 'If it works and gets a laugh, we keep it. If not, it's out. But with these three? They give you gold every time.' The real trick? Trimming it down to a tight 1 hour and 40 minutes. 'You end up with something that just moves ,' Story said. 'And that's the goal.' Murphy's Stamp of Approval So what convinced Eddie to jump in? 'The script was solid. Usually these things take years and a bunch of drafts. But this? It was like 90% there the first time I read it. Then we got Tim, and I was like, 'Okay, we're making this movie.' It just came together really quick.' He also had glowing words for co-star Eva Longoria, who plays his wife: 'She's wonderful and funny and a good actress. I loved working with her.' As for his impressions of Keke? 'I didn't know all the stuff she did. I saw Pimp , and I was like, wow. Then I watched her game show and I was like, wait, that's the same girl? She's not like any of the characters she plays. She sings too! Actually, I was like that at her age. I used to do all kinds of sh*t too.' Keke was floored. 'Man, I could cry. Eddie is literally the blueprint. He's done things that will never be done again. The longevity. The way he protects his personal life. First time I met him, I was with his daughter Bria at his house. He was just chillin', playing his guitar like a regular dad.' Murphy smiled. 'Didn't even know you were an actress. One of my kid's friends? I wouldn't lock in.' Final Thoughts: Don't Miss It With a cast this stacked, a script this sharp, and enough on-set chemistry to spark a franchise, The Pickup is poised to be Prime Video's next big hit. Well, at least not in the way fans had hoped. The actor, 44, who played brooding fan-favorite Tim Riggins in the NBC drama from 2006 to 2011, confirmed this week that he won't return for the upcoming FNL revival series currently in development at Peacock. 'I was asked to do it,' Kitsch told The Wrap on August 4 at the premiere of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. 'Yeah, I'm not going back. No.' That statement only confirmed the comments he made earlier this year during a SiriusXM interview, where he acknowledged he'd been approached about the project but said he didn't plan to reprise the role full time. He's not the only alumni in limbo. Connie Britton, who played Tami Taylor on the series, told Parade in March that the new show is "barely on" her radar. Still, for fans holding out hope to see Riggins down a cold one in Dillon, all may not be lost. 'I'll do a cameo,' Kitsch said in a separate interview with Access. 'I would do one. It's got to be out of control, though.' Asked how he imagines Riggins might be living these days, Kitsch didn't miss a beat: 'Probably having a cold one on the lake with a couple girls waiting for him in the cabin."
