Sex stories and scandalous truths: the podcast Just Between Us is out now
I didn't think I'd be hearing her cackle as I talked about my first boyfriend and that awkward encounter, when the most my school ever taught me was how to put a condom on a cucumber (making eye contact with my headteacher Mrs Chapman as I fumbled with the wrapper is something I regrettably can't forget).
I'd watched Diana on X factor at just nine years old, singing Dido's White Flag, wide-eyed and captivated, then admired her evolution into actor and social media firecracker, with no idea our paths would cross in this way.
But, in what feels like cosmic fate, we're co-presenting Metro's brand new relationships podcast: Just Between Us.
Each week, we'll take a listener call where you have the opportunity to share your stories, questions, and concerns.
What do I bring to the table? Well, it may not be a list of certified pop bangers, but as Metro's dedicated sex and relationships reporter I do know my stuff.
With so much misinformation out there on love and sex, I aim to bring you informed, impartial insights based on my years of work in this area.

And Diana? She'll be using those talented vocal chords to counsel you as a best friend or big sister, giving her signature hot takes and spilling her juiciest dating stories from over the years.
The first episode drops July 1, with a call from Hannah, 23, who's never had a boyfriend but desperately wants to lose her virginity.
'Every time I get close to it, I get nervous and freak out,' she tells us. 'I feel ready to have sex but it's getting frustrating. Both my siblings are in their first serious relationships – I'm getting impatient.'
Hannah speaks about her time at an all girls' school and how that may have hindered her in the boy department, as well as her fear and anxiety that builds up when an opportunity to have sex presents itself.
'Honestly, my brain never learned how to be friends with males who are my age, who are attractive – I even get nervous talking to male colleagues,' she says.
'It's the thought of going back to someone's house, to a whole new environment and getting naked with someone who I don't necessarily know.'
We also share our own stories of losing our V-cards, and while you'll have to listen to the podcast for the full story of my first time, the words 'it didn't work' were used. And for Diana an unwelcome interruption made things awkward.
Throughout the 12 episodes of season one, you'll learn that Diana and I have had very different relationships with love and sex. Those of you who had positive sexual encounters in your early lives will find comfort in Diana's stories.

Her Instagram bio states: 'UK actress based in Sydney.' It comes after an iconic EastEnders star looks unrecognisable four decades on from her soap debut. Mary 'the Punk' Smith, played by Linda Davidson, featured in the serial drama's original cast when it first aired back in 1985. She was a single mother to her daughter Annie and viewers saw the complicated character struggle to raise her child and earn money all while sporting her distinctive style. From becoming a prostitute to various failed romances, Mary had several controversial storylines before she left the show in 1988. Linda reprised the role in 2019 when she attended the funeral of fellow original cast member Dr Harold Legg and again in 2022 for Dot Cotton's funeral.

Fergie's a return hit! As the Duchess of York makes her first appearance at Wimbledon in 25 years, how the royal sat courtside with Princess Diana - before returning to watch Venus and Serena
Sarah Ferguson had made her first Wimbledon appearance in more than two decades, yesterday. The Duchess of York was spotted at the first day of the renowned tennis competition in the royal box with her daughter Princess Beatrice. Sarah, 65, affectionately known as Fergie by royal fans, looked stylish in a bright green paisley print dress complete with an emerald Van Cleef & Arpels motif bracelet. It's the first time the ex-wife of Prince Andrew has been seen at the prestigious tennis tournament since 2000, when she watched Venus and Serena Williams during the semi finals of the women's singles. However during the tournament the duchess wasn't seated in the Royal Box, which she had often graced alongside Princess Diana between the 1980s and 1990s. In fact the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, has not sat in Wimbledon's Royal Box for 35 years, her last time being in 1990 alongside Princess Diana. Fergie, who married Prince Andrew in 1986 and divorced him a decade later, donned a polka dot navy gown as she beamed and chatted to Diana throughout the event. In 1990, the pair attended the tournament together again and a photograph capturing Diana planting a kiss on Fergie's cheek became emblematic of their vivacious friendship. The courtside Royal Box has served as a VIP area since 1922 and includes access to a private clubhouse for lunch, along with a 'smart' dress code. Sarah and Princess Diana met long before they were both members of the royal family. They actually knew each other as teenagers because their mothers were friends, and they moved in similar aristocratic circles. Their friendship grew even closer when they both married into the royal family. Diana married Prince Charles in 1981, and it was actually Diana who helped set up Sarah with Prince Andrew, who later married in 1986. Once both were duchesses, Diana and Fergie became close confidantes, often seen laughing together at royal events. They were known for their rebellious streaks and shared frustration with royal protocols. They reportedly had a falling out in the early 1990s but Fergie addressed the rumours in a 2021 interview with People. She said: 'We promised each other we would always be together – there was never any daylight between us. 'But everybody wanted that because we were so strong together. People want to break something so strong.' She added they were 'best friends' and that she called the Princess of Wales 'Duch'. 'She taught me so much of public life. She was so brave. We used to have the most incredible time together.' Fast forward to today, and Fergie appeared radiant, seated beside her daughter, Princess Beatrice at Wimbledon, yesterday. The mother-daughter duo were seen beaming as they arrived to take their seats and were seen greeting Hannah Bagshawe and Eddie Redmayne, who were also seated inside the Royal Box. Princess Beatrice, 36, looked effortlessly chic as she stepped out in a £445 blue and white striped shirt and skirt embroidered with large white flowers from Sandro Paris. She accessorised her look with a grey crocodile-print clutch bag and wore her signature wavy auburn tresses down in a bouncy blow-dry. Sarah had all eyes on her as she opted to wear a bright green paisley print dress complete with an emerald Van Cleef & Arpels motif bracelet - similar to one seen on Queen Camilla's wrist on royal outings. Prince Andrew's ex-wife styled her bold and vibrant look with a simple brown box bag and simple diamond hoop earrings. She wore her fiery locks down in a half up, half down hairstyle and chose to wear natural makeup with a hint of eyeliner and mascara. As ever, the pair were seen watching the match unfold between Carlos Alcaraz and Fabio Fognini through their stylish sunglasses.

Netflix just made all 3 seasons of 'addictive' period drama available to stream
Fancy a feminist take on 18th century sex work that blends history and fiction for a smutty romp? Netflix now has you covered. The ITV period drama Harlots has a Vincent Van Gogh category of TV reputation, as a show never properly appreciated in its time, but held in tremendously high esteem by those that did tune in. Starring Lesley Manville, Liv Tyler and Samantha Morton, the show is set on the streets and in the brothels of Georgian England in the 1760s, as two warring madams battle it out. It's an age-old tale of David and Goliath, with the upstart Margaret Wells (Morton) jostling for custom against the established Lydia Quigley (Manville). Yet nobody is covered in glory on the sex-for-sale scene. Quigley doesn't care whether her girls live or die if she can curry aristocratic favour, while Wells is prepared to sell her daughters' virginities to the highest bidder. Manville has chalked up the show's struggle to gain traction to being squirreled away in the schedules (via RadioTimes). The BBC then picked up Harlots in 2020, treating the existing seasons to the primetime slot they deserved in order to fill the schedule amid a TV shortage during the pandemic. Manville has said she would be very much up for a fourth season of the show, after its untimely conclusion. 'I'd always be interested – obviously I'd be interested,' she said during a press event. 'I had nothing but a pleasurable time doing all three series, and it was one of those blissful jobs. 'I'd definitely [give] that a lot of consideration but it's certainly not something that's been talked about.' More Trending The show's three seasons – which are now all available on Netflix –currently hold a 97% rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with a set of glowing reviews from critics and audiences alike. A review in Black Girl Nerds described the show as 'an addictive and binge worthy' watch, while a write-up in Time magazine said: 'Come for the strong female-driven storylines and stay for the truly memorable costumes.'
