Indisciplined in party will face stick, warns TG BJP president

Hans India3 days ago
Hyderabad: BJP Telangana chief N Ramchander Rao stated that if anyone in the party is indisciplined, disciplinary action will be taken and emphasized that there is no distinction between old and new members, claiming that such differences are narratives created by some individuals.
Addressing the media in the national capital on Monday, he affirmed that any leader who harms the party or violates discipline will face consequences. As state president, he aims to resolve any minor issues that arise within the party. He also mentioned that if there are problems concerning leaders and workers, the national leadership will address them.
In his first visit to Delhi after assuming office as BJP Telangana State President, he addressed the media, expressing his desire to seek blessings and guidance from the party's central leadership to strengthen the party in the state. During his visit, he met with Sunil Bansal, Arvind Menon, and Nitin Gadkari. He noted that he would meet BJP National President JP Nadda and Union Home & Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in Parliament the following day.
Rao criticized Congress party leaders for misleading the people of the country and Telangana, pointing out that while significant issues were being discussed in Parliament, the main opposition leader was absent, making their criticisms of the BJP seem unreasonable. He highlighted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had visited Delhi 46 times in the last 19 months. Yet key Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, did not grant him an appointment; on the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers did.
He said that preventing Rahul Gandhi from meeting with Telangana Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, is an insult to the people of Telangana. Rao also criticized the Congress government for blaming the central government regarding the 42% reservation for backward classes (BCs).
A bill was introduced in the Assembly to provide 42% reservation in local body elections, which the BJP fully supported. However, Rao expressed concern about a conspiracy to implement 10% reservation for Muslim minorities even before the ordinance is finalized, stating that the BJP opposes religious and political reservations.
Congress leaders have proposed that to grant 42% reservation to Backward Classes (BCs), it should be included in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution. Rao questioned whether legal advice had been obtained during the Cabinet discussions, emphasizing that granting a 42% reservation would exceed the 50% cap imposed by the Supreme Court.
He stated that for the increase in BC reservation percentages, amending Section 285 of the Panchayati Raj Act is necessary. Despite this, Rao pointed out that the Congress government is now considering bringing an ordinance on BC reservations without a clear understanding of the 9th Schedule process.
He reminded that in 1973, the Supreme Court clarified in the Kesavananda Bharati case that even if a law is included in the 9th Schedule, it is still subject to judicial review. He cited the ongoing pending case regarding the reservation law, included in the 9th Schedule in Tamil Nadu by Jayalalithaa, emphasizing that the final decision has yet to be made.
Rao accused the Congress government of misleading the people regarding the 42% BC reservation and asserted that Congress should apologize for deceiving the BC community. He criticized Congress leaders for being aware of the Supreme Court verdict and the need to amend Section 285 but still not engaging in substantive discussions.
He advised that the Congress party, instead of blaming the central government, focus on implementing the promised 42% reservation. The BJP, he reiterated, remains against religious reservations.

Kishan Reddy slams Telangana caste survey, backs Centre's census for ‘real justice' to BCs

The proposed caste census to be taken up by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre will be as per the Constitution to provide 'real justice' to the Backward Classes (BC) unlike the 'useless' caste socio-economic survey taken up by the Congress government in Telangana which seeks to 'cheat' them by including Muslims in the BCc quota, said Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Friday. 'Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy should explain how the BCs can benefit when his government survey has reduced the numbers to 46% of the population and cutting down the quota benefit further by seeking to include 10% Muslims who will anyway get benefit from the 10% EWS — economically weaker sections quota,' he told a press conference in New Delhi. The High Court had struck down the 4% quota for Muslims when they were included in BC-E category by the then Congress government led by Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy but it is being implemented with the existing stay order in the Supreme Court. The current government intends to increase the same to 10% depriving the BCs of their rights as their quota gets reduced to 32%, he maintained. Mr. Kishan Reddy's contention is that 10% quota to Muslims benefits the Majlis Party and Congress leaders more. In this context, he referred to the GHMC elections where most of the BC reserved divisions were bagged by the Majlis Party in the last elections. The BJP leader said it was unbecoming of the Chief Minister to speak sarcastically about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's caste as 'converted caste' and has pointed out that inclusion of castes into SC/ST/BC has been a continuous process. Mr. Modi's caste was included by the then Congress governments based on the Mandal Commission report. The Congress has never made a BC as either PM or CM in its history plus did not bother to take up caste census or provide quota to BCs when in power. The Minister said the Congress government should follow the High Court order and conduct the local body polls within September and also implement the promised 42% quota for BCs even while 'genuine' BCs get the benefit.

BRS flays CM for half-hearted attempts to implement 42% BC quota

HYDERABAD The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is continuously deceiving backward classes in Telangana as the efforts of the State government to implement 42% reservation to BCs have been half-hearted so far and its 'drama' in New Delhi for the last two days has been giving rise to suspicion over the quota implementation. Stating that caste census conducted by the Revanth Reddy government was not a role model for the country as claimed by the Chief Minister himself, BRS legislators K.P. Vivekanand and Shambipur Raju and party leader Kyama Mallesh said here on Friday that it was an utter flop model as it had pruned the BC population numbers than their actual strength. They sought to know whether implementing the 42% quota for BCs was possible by subverting the due procedure. They reminded the Chief Minister that he had told the Assembly while passing the BC reservation Bills with all parties' support that he would lead an all-party delegation to Delhi to pursue with the Centre for its support to get the President's assent for the Bills. But he did not keep his word. The BRS leaders also criticised the Chief Minister for making insulting comments on BRS MLC D. Sravan, Congress MLA K. Shankaraiah and Minister V. Srihari. Unlike Mr. Revanth Reddy, the three had risen to the present positions with their hard work and not by carrying cash bags for others. Mr. Sravan had played a role in the Statehood movement and as a teacher had moulded several students. Alleging that insulting BCs had become routine for the Chief Minister, the BRS leader demanded an apology from the Chief Minister to the three leaders. They also suggested to find ways to achieve enhanced reservation for BCs in a scientific manner and before that fulfil the promises made in the BC Declaration.

Phones of all MLAs, MPs of Telangana tapped by private hackers at CM's behest, allege BRS leaders

HYDERABAD The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is getting the phones of 118 MLAs, 40 MLCs and 23 MPs and other leaders of the State as also the celebrities in different fields tapped with the help of private hackers with ulterior motives. Even the phones of those who had come to participate in the Miss World Pageant were tapped, BRS MLAs MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Dr. K. Sanjay said, addressing a press conference here on Friday. Stating that Mr. Revanth Reddy himself had said in an informal chat with newspersons in New Delhi on Thursday that phone tapping would be done by the police officials, they said he had also admitted before his Cabinet colleagues that phone tapping was being done as it was required to know what was going on as the head of the government. Demanding CBI and ED inquiries into phone tapping being done at the behest of the Chief Minister, the BRS leaders sought to know why Mr. Revanth Reddy had been indulging in mudslinging in the name of phone tapping on KCR (former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao), KTR (K.T. Rama Rao) and T. Harish Rao, who had never indulged in phone tapping. Mr. Kaushik Reddy alleged that he had complained to the police on December 5 last that his and his wife's phones were being tapped, but no case had been registered so far.
