Haryana to install tracking devices in all public transport vehicles
The Haryana government on Monday decided to equip all public transport vehicles with vehicle location tracking devices (VLTDs), an official statement said.
The decision, expected to strengthen the safety of women and children in the state, was taken during a state transport department meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
He emphasised that department- or district-wise targets should be set to ensure timely completion and directed the officers to integrate this system with the emergency response service '112'.
This initiative is expected to be a milestone in establishing a safe transport system for women in the state, the statement said.
The VLTD system, developed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways under the Nirbhaya framework, offers real-time location data and emergency alert features.
Expressing concern over road accidents, the CM directed the officials to conduct A thorough investigation of each accident so that the shortcomings can be addressed to prevent such incidents in the future.
CM also gave specific directions to monitor the fitness of school transport vehicles.
He stated that all school buses must undergo regular inspections, with attention paid to their technical condition.
Non-compliance with rules and guidelines should result in challans and vehicle seizure, he said, while adding, "safety of children is our responsibility".
He also directed that Haryana Roadways drivers be required to submit medical certificates at regular intervals.
To address the challenge of revenue deficit in the transport sector, Saini directed officers to explore various innovations and commercial possibilities, including evaluating alternatives such as advertising on buses.
While reviewing the city bus service, the Chief Minister directed an increase in the number of electric buses, along with the establishment of charging stations.
It was informed in the meeting that the procurement process for 375 electric buses under the City Bus Service scheme is underway.
Additionally, under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, action is being expedited for the purchase of 250 more electric buses.

Delhi: Female patient sexually assaulted by co-patient, dies during treatment at GTB Hospital
New Delhi [India], June 26 (ANI): A female patient, allegedly sexually assaulted by a co-patient inside Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital in Delhi, passed away during her treatment at the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital on Wednesday. Information regarding sexual assault against a female patient in JPC hospital was received at the New Usmanpur Police Station on Monday. During the enquiry, it came to light that she was admitted to the hospital on June 21. During treatment, when she went out of the ward, an alleged incident of molestation with her was reported, following which legal action has been taken under appropriate sections of law by PS New Usmanpur. She was subsequently referred to GTB Hospital for specialised treatment. As per her medico-legal case (MLC), no visible external injuries were noted at the time of examination. On Wednesday, GTB Hospital informed that the patient passed away during the course of treatment. In this regard, a case has already been registered, and further legal action will be initiated on the basis of PME reports. Earlier on Monday, as the police received the information regarding the alleged sexual assault, they said, 'On reaching the spot, the police team found that a female patient admitted in the hospital had been sexually assaulted by another patient, identified as Mohd. Faiz, a resident of Kachchi Khajuri, aged 23 years.' They added that a case under relevant sections has been registered at PS New Usmanpur, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is in progress. In a separate case, earlier this month, a minor girl died due to injuries on her face at a hospital after she was allegedly sexaully assaulted in the National Capital, Delhi Police said in a statement. Police said they received a call regarding the sexual assault of a minor on June 7 at 8:41 pm at Dayalpur police station. The girl was brought to JPC Hospital by her father in an unconscious state, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Medical staff observed visible injuries on her face and suspected sexual assault, police said. A case was registered under sections 103(1), 66, and 13(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. (ANI)

Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday assured that his government is committed to maintaining law and order in the state and ensuring a fearless environment for traders. He was speaking at a press conference after a state-level event 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' held to observe 50 years of Emergency at the auditorium of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital in Karnal. The state government has held multiple meetings to review law and order following violent incidents targeting liquor contractors. Despite a reduction in reserve prices and assurances of security from police, over 200 liquor zones across the state remain unsold. The chief minister's remarks also followed a high-profile police encounter on Tuesday, in which gangster Romil Vohra—accused in several murders linked to the liquor trade—was shot dead. Vohra had been wanted in connection with the killings of a liquor contractor in Kurukshetra, three traders in Yamunanagar, and a recent shooting outside liquor vends in the region. 'Bids are coming; it is an ongoing process' When asked about the police encounter and unsold liquor zones, Saini said, 'Bids are coming; it is an ongoing process. But it is the government's responsibility to ensure that law and order is in place. Every person should be able to work without fear. There is no problem for anyone. Cyber cells bust WFH job scams, 3 held in separate cases
New Delhi: The north district's cyber cell has arrested two individuals for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing work-from-home jobs and high returns on their investment. The victim, a 43-year-old resident of north Delhi, said in his complaint that he had received a message and was subsequently added to a Telegram group, where he was asked to rate restaurants in exchange for money. He was then asked to make a pre-payment of Rs 84,400, which, he was promised, would lead to high profits. The complainant made the transfer through UPI, but did not receive any profit, following which he filed a complaint of cyber fraud on the national cyber crime reporting portal. A case was registered. "The money trail of bank accounts linked with the UPI ID was analysed and the location of the accused was identified," said DCP (north) Raja Banthia. A few days ago, police arrested Saini, in whose bank account the amount was deposited. The accused told police that the account was opened by co-accused Nehra, who was also caught. According to Saini, Nehra introduced him to a money-making "scheme" that involved using Saini's IDs to create a bank account in exchange of Rs 2,000 per deposit. They also revealed the role of one Yuvraj, whom police are trying to locate. In another similar case, the cyber cell of Shahdara district arrested a man for allegedly defrauding people on the pretext of giving them WFH jobs. DCP Prashant Gautam said Rahul, a resident of Haryana, created an app, Job Hai, to lure people. "The incident came to light when a 19-year-old resident of Shahdara encountered the fraudulent advertisement and downloaded the app, through which he applied for a cashier's position. When the complainant refused any further payments, he was allegedly blocked with no future details.
