Edmonton weather: Cooler air settles in for a few days

After a pair of days near 30 C in Edmonton, daytime highs will settle in around 20 C for today, tomorrow and Sunday. Saturday will be slightly warmer.
We hit 28 C on Tuesday and 32 C on Wednesday in the city and managed to avoid Wednesday's severe storms.
Those storms produced a tornado west of Drayton Valley around 5 p.m. and there were numerous reports of large hail and damaging wind gusts from storms in central and northwestern Alberta.
The closest storm to the city hit the Stony Plain area around 7 p.m.
The primary severe storm risk will be in southern Alberta today.
For the Edmonton region and surrounding areas, there's a chance of some showers this afternoon (possibly early in the afternoon).
While there is a slight chance of a thunderstorm in the Edmonton-Red Deer area, anything that develops should be non-severe.
We're also looking at some rain and possible thunderstorms across the far northern portions of Alberta with the potential for some significant rainfall totals.
Aside from that 30-per cent chance of a shower this afternoon, it should be a fairly pleasant (but breezy) day.
Sun this morning, then partly cloudy with wind 20 km/h gusting to 30 km/h this afternoon and a high near 21 C.
Sunshine and a high near 21 C on Friday in Edmonton, with a drier day on tap for the entire province.
We're watching the weekend, as a new feature has developed in the modelling.
It's looking like we may have a system develop in western Alberta Saturday night and then get blocked in place over Alberta on Sunday.
If that does pan out, we could get some showers/thunderstorms in the west Saturday night and then some showers or steadier periods of rain over parts of central/north-central Alberta through the day Sunday.
For now...I'm adding some showers to the forecast for Sunday (particularly through the morning).
But, just be aware as you're looking at the weekend forecast (whether it's mine or from a different source) - there's low confidence in that outlook as of right now.
I'm a lot more confident that we'll see some heat returning for next week as daytime highs jump back into the mid to upper 20s with highs near 30 C on a couple of days (especially Tuesday/Wednesday).
