Former Formula One driver Ralf Schumacher has alleged that a heated argument took place between Max Verstappen's father, Jos Verstappen, and former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner during the British Grand Prix weekend, ahead of Horner's Red Bull exit.
Schumacher claimed that he personally saw what looked like a debate between the two personalities. Just two days after the race at Silverstone, Red Bull announced the exit of Horner on Wednesday with immediate effect. Racing Bulls team principal Laurent Mekies has replaced him.
Horner and Jos's differences go back to the 2024 season opener in Bahrain, when Horner was accused of inappropriate behavior by a female colleague. Despite Max winning the race in Sakhir, Jos and Horner were reportedly involved in a heated exchange. The accusation followed an internal investigation by Red Bull.
Eventually, Horner was cleared of any wrongdoing, but reports of an internal power struggle at Red Bull appeared, involving Horner and the team's senior advisor, Helmut Marko.

Oracle Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner talks with Jos Verstappen in the Paddock prior to practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Bahrain at Bahrain International Circuit on February 29, 2024 in Bahrain, Bahrain. MoreSchumacher claims that the differences between Horner and Jos were never resolved completely. Speaking on the Boxengasse-podcast, as quoted and translated by The Sun, he said:
"There was another argument or a heated exchange, at least visually and verbally between Jos Verstappen, Christian Horner and the press officer.
"You could see that Jos was anything but happy with the situation."
Schumacher then addressed Horner. He said:
"But I understand it too. For me, Christian Horner is also a bit of a difficult person.
"I have to say that. He just failed to keep the team together well, which is not always easy, of course.
"But I also think his behaviour now, I can only refer to myself, but he can't really deal with criticism."
The former driver added that Horner doesn't talk to him or Sky Sports Germany. He said:
"We are, or I am, now, on a so-called black list, so he no longer talks to us or with me and such.
"It's actually a joke, because a man who has won so much should actually be able to discuss it in front of the camera."
Red Bull has not revealed the reason for Horner's ousting. Red Bull managing director Oliver Mintzlaff issued a statement announcing Horner's departure. It read:
"We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years.
"With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1.
"Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history."

Shane van Gisbergen extends winning streak with an intense NASCAR Cup victory at Sonoma

Shane van Gisbergen started Sunday's Cup race from Sonoma Raceway on pole position, and he stayed there for most of the day. SVG has now won the last three road/street courses on the schedule, securing Red Bull's first win as a primary sponsor in the Cup Series since the 2011 season. "Yeah, it was pretty tough stuff," said SVG, who led 97 of 110 laps. "We had an amazing car. Chase Briscoe, what a great racer and gave me respect. Jumped the last one a little bit and it was pretty tense, but amazing. So stoked for Red Bull, Trackhouse, Chevy. I believe we had a really fun weekend here, some great races, and I hope everyone enjoyed that." Advertisement Watch: Cabernet Shane! SVG chose to stay out on older tires, and 13 other drivers did the same. Chase Elliott led the way among the drivers who pitted for fresh rubber, but his forward progress was hindered by a series of cautions, burning up several laps. A crash from Noah Gragson and a spin into the tire barriers by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. both forced restarts, but in both situations, van Gisbergen remained in form control of the race. Advertisement Elliott got all the way up to third while Chase Briscoe finished exactly where he started -- second. Michael McDowell and Christopher Bell rounded out the top five with Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, William Byron, Joey Logano, and Kyle Busch filling out the rest of the top ten. Stage 1 and 2 Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota At the start of the race, things were mostly clean as SVG drove off with the lead. However, he and most of the field chose to flip the stage, short-pitting before the scheduled caution. His teammate Ross Chastain took another path, staying out and earning his first stage win of the year. Despite pitting, van Gisbergen still managed to end the stage in second place. Advertisement As the second stage got underway, there was some more contact throughout the pack, with A.J. Allmendinger and John Hunter Nemechek both going for a spin. SVG again chose to pit from the lead while Kyle Larson stayed out to try and win the stage. However, that didn't work out for him as van Gisbergen ran him down and passed him for the stage win. Stage 3 Ryan Blaney, Team Penske Ford Ryan Blaney, Team Penske Ford The final stage was the wildest of all as Ryan Blaney got sent into the dirt by Chris Buescher, getting stuck on a hill off-track and causing the first caution for an incident. At the same time, both Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin spun. And while tensions were rising on the track, it was also getting heated in the pit lane as the RFK Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing pit crews got into a small scuffle. Advertisement The final round of green-flag pit stops began with about 30 laps to go, but van Gisbergen waited until 26 laps to go to make his final stop. He continued to lead for the remainder of the race, despite multiple restarts where he had to fend off Briscoe. To read more articles visit our website.

Competitive golf built on scorecards and birdies is fun, but fans go even more wild when all their favorite athletes swap their regular arsenal with golf clubs. That spirit was front and center at the American Century Championship, where retired NHL star Joe Pavelski pulled off a bold win on Sunday. It was not an easy job. The 41-year-old outpaced golf lover Stephen Curry, John Smoltz, and Taylor Twellman, piling up 73 points in total, including 29 on Sunday alone. His showdown included five birdies and a roaring eagle on the 18th hole. JOE PAVELSKI. He finished second with 64 total points. Jake Owen followed in third with 62, and Taylor Twellman landed fourth at 61. Steph Curry, who won the event in 2023, was in contention until a costly double bogey on the final hole dropped him to fifth with 58 points. "It feels so good to finally get one," Pavelski said, holding the trophy. "Selfishly, I get to play a bunch of golf. It's a very competitive group out here and just an awesome setting." The 4-time NHL All-Star additionally took home a $150,000 paycheck from the tournament's $750,000 purse. He becomes the third NHL player to win the event, joining Dan Quinn and Mario Lemieux. "I got the text last night from Quinny, little pep talk. Pretty awesome to go get one for the hockey guys," Pavelski said. "We're a tight-knit group. I know they were cheering for me. It's special to get it done." The fans were out in full force, many waving Sharks and Stars jerseys, and Pavelski noticed. "It doesn't go unnoticed when I hear you guys shouting, cheering from behind the rope," he said. "The hockey side is special, and the connections I had with the fans in San Jose and Dallas mean the world to me." More Golf: Travis Kelce strikes fan in the neck at American Century Championship
