TTD to begin trial run for early VIP Break Darshan
The decision, made by TTD officials and temple authorities, aims to revert to the earlier 4:30 am or 5:00 am start time. Earlier during the previous YSRCP government, the then Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy introduced changes allowing VIP Break Darshan to start at 8 am or 10 am based on VIP demand and referral letters.
Initially, the VIP Break Darshan ticket numbers were capped below 1,000, even on peak days, but later surged to 2,300. Government orders during that period mandated the temple board to accept at least one referral letter per MLA/MP daily.
Later, it was increased to two, extending the same policy to Telangana MLAs and MPs.
This change led to a significant rise in VIP tickets, reaching 4,000 to 5,000 per day.
Following the election code, TTD temporarily halted the discretionary quota but resumed it post-government change, recently reinstating Telangana representatives' referral privileges.
New change may be a bane to commoners
Currently, Telangana MLAs and MPs can submit one letter for six people for VIP Break Darshan on Mondays and Sheeghra Darshan on Tuesdays, while Andhra Pradesh MLAs and MPs can submit letters from Wednesday to Saturday.
The daily VIP Break Darshan, including protocol, Srivani, and referral categories, accommodates over 5,000 tickets, with recent additions pushing the count above 7,000.
The proposed shift to early morning darshan has sparked concerns among temple officials.
The 5:00 am to 10:00 am slot is currently utilised to allow 7,500 to 23,000 common devotees, particularly on weekends, to have darshan without tickets or tokens.
An early VIP Break Darshan could force common pilgrims to wait in queue lines from midnight until 11:00 am. Despite these concerns, the TTD Trust Board has directed authorities to proceed with the trial run to assess the feasibility of the new timings.

'Foul Play' Twist In Case Of Man Allegedly Run Over By Jagan Reddy's Car
Hyderabad: The wife of the man who died last month - after he was run over by a car in ex- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy 's convoy - has spoken of 'foul play' by the ruling Telugu Desam Party in connection with her husband's death. The claim came shortly after a meeting with Mr Reddy, who has been named as an 'accused' in a culpable homicide police case filed over the man's death. "My husband suffered minor injuries to his shoulder and hands... why would he die because of that? What happened in the ambulance?" Lourdu Mary, 55-year-old Cheeli Singaiah 's wife, asked. She said members of Mr Reddy's YSR Congress Party had tried to shift Mr Singaiah to the hospital on their own, but were stopped and her husband had to wait for an ambulance. She also said 50 men - claiming to be from the 'Nara Lokesh camp', i.e., the son of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu - turned up at her home after her husband died and asked her to sign some papers. According to her, they claimed to be from the same Scheduled Caste as her late husband. "I felt scared... so I stayed silent and did as I was told," she declared. Her claim has drawn a strong reaction from Mr Naidu, who has accused the YSRCP of having 'pressured the wife (into) saving Jagan'. Mr Reddy - whose bulletproof Toyota Fortuner has been seized by the police and will be sent for forensic examination - earlier received some relief after the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The cops were restrained from taking coercive action. But that relief expired Tuesday. The investigation into Mr Singaiah's tragic death has seen several dramatic turns. Initially, police said he had been run over by a vehicle 50 metres ahead of that carrying Mr Reddy. But later, armed with drone footage, the cops said it was, in fact, the latter vehicle that killed Mr Singaiah, and named Mr Reddy as 'accused number 2' and modified the charges to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and abetment. The first accused is the driver of the vehicle. The YSRCP has said the driver had been provided by the state, i.e., Mr Naidu's administration. Meanwhile, Mr Reddy asked the High Court to quash the case against him. In that matter there was another headline-grabbing moment after Justice K Srinivas Reddy asked how cases could be registered against those in the car in a road accident, and drew parallels to accidents in large gatherings; the unfortunate example was January's Kumbh Mela stampede. Scrambling to defend itself, the YSRCP has blamed the police and the state for inadequate security arrangements during the roadshow that Mr Reddy was conducting when Mr Singaiah was killed. The argument was the large crowds the YSRCP chief drew were a factor in the incident. Mr Reddy's team also argued the charges were politically motivated.

YSRCP leaders launch offensive against NDA govt. in A.P.
The YSRCP convened a crucial meeting in Vijayawada on Tuesday (June 1), intensifying their attack on the ruling coalition government and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Addressing the gathering, Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, coordinator for Krishna, NTR, and Guntur districts, said all promises made during the YSRCP's previous term were fulfilled. He accused Naidu of duping voters with fake guarantees during the 2024 elections. He announced a statewide campaign from July 4 to 11 titled 'Chandrababu Suritee – Mosam Guarantee', aimed at 'exposing' the TDP chief's betrayals in every village and town. Devineneni Avinash, NTR district YSRCP president, said the coalition's deception continued for over a year. He criticised the TDP for not fulfilling even a single electoral promise and said Mr. Chandrababu Naidu has become the face of falsehoods. Avinash vowed that YSRCP leaders and cadre will stand by the people. Modugula Venu Gopal Reddy, observer for NTR parliamentary constituency, said people were openly calling Mr. Chandrababu Naidu a symbol of betrayal, while expressing a strong desire to see YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy back in power. 'Anyone wanting to meet Mr. Jagan must first go through waves of dedicated workers,' he added, highlighting the leader's enduring popularity. Former MLA Malladi Vishnu emphasised the need to expose Mr. Chandrababu Naidu's past governance failures, branding the coalition manifesto as a bundle of lies. He pointed out that none of the promises have been implemented so far. 'They increased electricity charges and imposed burdens worth thousands of crores,' he said. Former Minister Vellampalli Srinivas noted that one year has passed since the alliance took power, but Mr. Chandrababu Naidu has done nothing meaningful. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu unveils ₹4,800- crore action plan for development of Kuppam constituency
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday unveiled a ₹4,800-crore action plan for comprehensive development of the Kuppam constituency that he represents in the Legislative Assembly. 'This will transform Kuppam into a model town and a vibrant hub for solar energy, connectivity, and rural development,' Mr. Naidu said while addressing a public meeting as part of the 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu' programme, at Tummisi village, near Kuppam. Air connectivity Recalling his more than three decades of inseparable bond with the Kuppam region, Mr. Naidu said that plans were afoot to construct a new airport in Kuppam with an investment of ₹850 crore, which 'will contribute to the key growth of the region.' Rejecting the criticism of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) over land acquisition for the project, he reiterated that those who part with their lands would be provided suitable compensation. Road widening Mr. Naidu asserted that the modernisation of the Kuppam Railway Station and development of a four-lane highway from Palamaneru to Krishnagiri (in Tamil Nadu) would be expedited. 'The Kuppam-Hosur road widening will usher in phenomenal development of the Kuppam constituency with excellent connectivity to Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolar. Kuppam has already emerged as a center for inter-State connectivity,' Mr. Naidu said. Solar power Reiterating the government's move to give a big push to the solar energy sector, he said that under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, rooftop solar panels would be set at all the houses in Kuppam. The panels would be installed free of cost for the SC/ST households, while a 40% subsidy would be offered for the Backward Classes. 'Every household will be made power self-sufficient. Solar energy will also be provided to the agriculture sector,' he added. Mr. Naidu pledged continuous drinking water supply to Kuppam this year by completing the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) branch canal to the region at a cost of ₹85 crore, while the total investment on the project would be ₹3,980 crore. The Chief Minister also referred to the plans such as development of road and temples, promotion of dairy sector in Kuppam to take milk production to 10 lakh litres per day, and 'Brand Kuppam' initiative for local products.
