Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu unveils ₹4,800- crore action plan for development of Kuppam constituency
'This will transform Kuppam into a model town and a vibrant hub for solar energy, connectivity, and rural development,' Mr. Naidu said while addressing a public meeting as part of the 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu' programme, at Tummisi village, near Kuppam.
Air connectivity
Recalling his more than three decades of inseparable bond with the Kuppam region, Mr. Naidu said that plans were afoot to construct a new airport in Kuppam with an investment of ₹850 crore, which 'will contribute to the key growth of the region.'
Rejecting the criticism of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) over land acquisition for the project, he reiterated that those who part with their lands would be provided suitable compensation.
Road widening
Mr. Naidu asserted that the modernisation of the Kuppam Railway Station and development of a four-lane highway from Palamaneru to Krishnagiri (in Tamil Nadu) would be expedited.
'The Kuppam-Hosur road widening will usher in phenomenal development of the Kuppam constituency with excellent connectivity to Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolar. Kuppam has already emerged as a center for inter-State connectivity,' Mr. Naidu said.
Solar power
Reiterating the government's move to give a big push to the solar energy sector, he said that under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, rooftop solar panels would be set at all the houses in Kuppam. The panels would be installed free of cost for the SC/ST households, while a 40% subsidy would be offered for the Backward Classes. 'Every household will be made power self-sufficient. Solar energy will also be provided to the agriculture sector,' he added.
Mr. Naidu pledged continuous drinking water supply to Kuppam this year by completing the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) branch canal to the region at a cost of ₹85 crore, while the total investment on the project would be ₹3,980 crore.
The Chief Minister also referred to the plans such as development of road and temples, promotion of dairy sector in Kuppam to take milk production to 10 lakh litres per day, and 'Brand Kuppam' initiative for local products.

Naidu flags off statewide campaign to showcase NDA achievements
Vijayawada: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu asserted that the NDA govt is spending twice as much on welfare compared to the previous YSRCP regime, while also accelerating development across the state. Launching the month-long outreach campaign titled "First Step in Good Governance" at Kuppam on Wednesday, Naidu said the initiative aims to connect with every household in Andhra Pradesh and highlight the government's achievements over the past year. All MLAs have been directed to visit their constituencies and explain the various welfare and development programmes implemented by the NDA govtt. While Naidu began a two-day tour of his Kuppam constituency, his son and minister Nara Lokesh launched the campaign in Mangalagiri. Ministers and legislators across the state kicked off the programme in their respective regions. During his Kuppam visit, Naidu inaugurated development projects worth 1,293 crore and signed MoUs with four companies for skill development initiatives involving an investment of 1,617 crore. He also unveiled Vision Swarna Kuppam – 2029, outlining a roadmap for transforming the constituency he has represented for nine consecutive terms. Addressing a public meeting in Shantipuram, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh is recovering from the "destruction" caused by the previous government. He announced that the Handri-Neeva project would be completed within a year, with 3,890 crore allocated to ensure irrigation for every acre of farmland. Naidu also announced plans to promote "Brand Kuppam" by improving market access for local products. He revealed that an airport would soon be built in Kuppam with an investment of 850 crore. Appealing to locals not to oppose land acquisition, he promised fair compensation on par with Amaravati farmers. He urged residents to take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar scheme by installing solar panels to reduce electricity costs. Naidu also highlighted plans to modernise the railway station and improve road connectivity. Criticising the YSRCP, Naidu said only those who can deliver development have the right to speak about welfare. He argued that borrowing for welfare while ignoring development is not good governance. "To spend on welfare, wealth must be created first—and that's what the NDA govt is doing," he said. Naidu also distributed pensions to new beneficiaries, tricycles to differently-abled persons, and e-cycles to 400 DWACRA women. He visited households in Timmarajupalle to interact with beneficiaries and understand their concerns.

Wadettiwar: Farmers are ending life, but Maha stalling farm loan waiver
Nagpur: Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar questioned the govt's priorities on Tuesday, highlighting the increasing number of farmer suicides in Maharashtra. He accused the govt of neglecting agrarian crisis while approving Rs20,000 crore for Shaktipeeth highway project. "Money is available for massive infrastructure projects, but where is the budget for farm loan waivers as promised by the BJP before last year's assembly polls to the farmers?" Wadettiwar asked while moving an adjournment motion in the Legislative Assembly. He cited official data showing that between January and March 2025 alone, 767 farmers took their lives in the state. Of these, 200 cases were declared ineligible for compensation and inquiries in 194 cases remained pending. The Congress leader attacked the govt for forming committees instead of acting on its earlier pre-poll promise to waive farm loans. "Before elections, they said they would write off all farm debt. Now they're hiding behind committees. This is unacceptable," he said. Referring to an incident in Latur, Wadettiwar pointed to the desperation among cultivators. "A 65-year-old farmer, Ambadas Pawar, yoked himself to the plough as he couldn't afford bulls. That is a glaring example of the state's indifference," he said. The Bramhapuri MLA also criticised agriculture minister Manikrao Kokate for allegedly calling farmers 'beggars' and took exception to former minister Babanrao Lonikar's derogatory remarks. "This govt has not even ensured remunerative prices for cotton and soybean. Even the minimum support price promises remain unfulfilled," he said. With assembly Speaker rejecting the adjournment motion, opposition members staged a walkout in protest. "The govt is insensitive. It refuses to even discuss farm crisis," Wadettiwar said while leading the boycott.
