Al Harthy finishes 10th in Brazil race

• Oman's Ahmad al Harthy back in the points in Rolex 6 Hours of Sao Paolo
• Team WRT racer and team-mates Rossi and van der Linde drive faultlessly
• Top 10 finish achieved after generally challenging FIA WEC event in Brazil
High determination and an immense amount of effort from Ahmad al Harthy, Valentino Rossi and Kelvin van der Linde resulted in a very hard-fought top 10 finish in the Rolex 6 Hours of Sao Paolo on Sunday, July 13, as the second half of the FIA World Endurance Championship got underway. Contesting an uphill battle all weekend at the famous Brazilian track, the Team WRT trio and the squad itself maximised the performance available to them with the No.46 BMW M4 LMGT3 after overcoming a difficult qualifying on Saturday, July 12. Never giving in, fantastic teamwork and consistency of performance meant the squad did manage to come away from round five of the FIA WEC season inside the points-paying top 10, a result Al Harthy says was the most which could realistically be achieved this time around at Interlagos.
Qualifying, normally such a strong suit for Al Harthy and the Team WRT squad, didn't work out as planned and so the team had to settle for 14th on the grid. The session was incredibly close though, with Al Harthy only missing out on the top 10 cut-off for the Hyperpole session by 0.2 seconds.
Al Harthy took the start of the race but after maintaining position initially, he was elbowed down to 17th place. Battling back with strong focus, he was back inside the top 15 with less than 20 minutes of the race elapsed and close behind the sister BMW. Both WRT cars gained two spots each shortly after and Al Harthy then made his first pit-stop from 13th before the end of hour one.
Van der Linde took over and when the action settled he was in 12th position, as the team's strategy began to unfold. Climbing through to fifth with one hour and 45 minutes completed, before the end of hour two OQ Group, Sohar International, Omantel, Oman LNG, BMW Oman, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY), and Experience Oman supported Al Harthy returned to the driving seat.
Holding sixth position initially, and driving well around the 4.3-kilometre counterclockwise Interlagos track, he concluded his second run nicely inside the top eight as the differing strategies of the teams played out. Van der Linde took over later in hour three with the car in 10th place when he emerged, and the South African reeled off a series of great passes.
With three hours and 45 minutes in the book van der Linde had moved up into third and at the next stop Rossi climbed into the BMW for his first miles of the race. When the race order settled once more he held sixth place and after the team's fifth pit-stop, with just under 90 minutes to go, Rossi remained behind the wheel and emerged eighth in LMGT3.
Climbing into the top six as the strategies again mixed the order, van der Linde returned to the No.46 car with just half an hour remaining and ultimately finished in 10th position, the highest placed of the BMW entries and a deserved championship point.
'I think it was a very strong race for us, we managed to make up so many positions throughout the six hours and to finish with a championship point makes all of the effort worth it. We know we're not the most competitive car at the moment but hopefully things can change quickly for Austin. We executed a perfect race, I would say one of the best executed in terms of teams, so that's a very proud thing for us and we all drove perfectly as well. Now we have a bit of time to analyse all of the data and hopefully have a more competitive car when we arrive at the Circuit of the Americas for the next round of the championship.' Al Harthy said
From South America, the FIA World Endurance Championship will head north next to the United States of America for round six of the season, the Lone Star Le Mans at COTA in Austin, Texas, over the weekend September 6-7.

Al Manar Racing's Al Zubair and Klingmann look to bounce back in France

Muscat – Al Manar Racing by Team WRT's Al Faisal Al Zubair and Jens Klingmann will be hoping to get their 2025 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Series challenge back on track at the Magny-Cours circuit in France this weekend. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO duo suffered a minor setback to their title challenge when they sustained an accident and then a fourth-place finish in the two sprint races at Misano recently. The Omani and his German teammate now hold fifth place in the Gold Cup's Drivers' and Teams' Championships with 49 points, but a strong showing in France would catapult the duo back into title contention. Emil Frey Racing's Chris Lulham and Thierry Vermeulen lead the way on 77.5 points from Saintéloc Racing (63.5pts) and Tresor Attempto Racing (54pts). The Garage 59 Team are fourth on 51.5 points. Oman-based Al Zubair said: 'Really looking forward to Magny-Cours. It's actually a track I've never raced on before. It will definitely not be an easy track for us. We tested there in March so, hopefully, that plays into our hands a little. With the experience we have got with the car, we should hopefully aim for a positive weekend. 'As always, we aim for a podium. We know it won't be easy. But we need to secure some good points for the championship. Misano was a bit difficult after the first race to not score any points. Now we must focus on scoring points this weekend.' The Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours is located in central France, near the towns of Magny-Cours and Nevers. It staged the Formula One French Grand Prix between 1991 and 2008 and also hosts the Superbike World Championship. A 40-car field of GT World Challenge Europe competitors will share the 4.411km circuit this weekend with entrants in the FFSA French GT Championship, FFSA French Touring Car Championship and FFSA F4, the Alpine Elf Cup series and the Clio Cup series. Seeb top Al Nasr, Dhofar down Al Shabab

MUSCAT, JULY 30 The 2025 Khareef Club Tournament heated up as the second round kicked off, bringing plenty of excitement and competitiveness. Dhofar secured a hard-fought victory over Al Shabab with a narrow 1–0 win, while Seeb confirmed their readiness to compete for the title with an important 2–1 triumph over Al Nasr. In the first match, tactical caution dominated the first half between Dhofar and Al Shabab, with both sides closing down spaces and playing disciplined defence, leaving few chances to break the deadlock. The first real threat came in the 21st minute when Brazilian forward Gioulison Lima fired a shot that failed to trouble Dhofar goalkeeper Mazin al Kasbi. Dhofar responded with a dangerous attack led by Abdullah Zahir in the 27th minute, but Al Shabab keeper Abdulmalik al Badri was alert to the danger. The first half ended goalless, with fans eagerly anticipating a different scenario in the second half. Early in the second half, Dhofar capitalised on a defensive lapse from Al Shabab. A long ball found Abdullah Zahir, who controlled it well, weaved through the defence, and fired a powerful shot into the net in the 51st minute to put his team ahead. Al Shabab thought they had equalised in the 73rd minute, but their goal was overturned after a VAR review for offside. Despite late pressure from Al Shabab, Dhofar's defence and goalkeeper held firm until the final whistle. In the second match, Seeb dominated Al Nasr with attacking intent from the start. Zahir al Aghbari opened the scoring in the 20th minute after a precise pass inside the penalty area. Al Nasr's situation worsened when Abdullah al Musharafi was sent off in the 39th minute. However, they quickly found an equaliser just two minutes later when Molhem al Sunaidy exploited the goalkeeper's advanced position, lobbing the ball into the net to level the score before halftime. In the second half, Al Seeb made full use of Al Nasr's numerical disadvantage, piling on sustained attacking pressure. Al Aghbari struck again in the 65th minute, finishing off a well-timed pass from Abdulaziz al Maqbali to restore the lead. Despite Al Nasr's efforts to equalise, Seeb's organised defence preserved their advantage until the final whistle. DECISIVE CLASHES This evening will see two decisive clashes that will determine the finalists. The Oman Olympic team faces Seeb in a crucial battle for the top spot in Group B, while Al Nahda take on Al Shabab in Group A in a do-or-die encounter, with both teams eyeing a place in the final. In Group B, the Olympic team heads into their match against Seeb with high concentration. Coach Badr al Maimani relies on gradual build-up play and exploiting wing speed, a tactic that was evident in their comfortable win over Al Nasr in the opening match. However, the clash against Seeb will be a bigger test for the team's defensive resilience, especially against Seeb's dangerous attacking duo led by Zahir al Aghbari, who netted both goals in the previous round. The Olympic team will need to control the game tempo and limit space for Seeb's key playmakers. As for Seeb, coached by Romanian Valeriu Tita, the objective is clear: secure qualification. The team has shown great efficiency in converting half-chances and benefits from the experience of its players in high-stake matches. Seeb is expected to apply high pressure in the opening quarter to seek an early goal that could disrupt the Olympic team's plans. In Group A, the Al Nahda-Al Shabab clash promises to be a tactical battle. Al Nahda will aim to continue their winning run after defeating Dhofar in the opening round. They are known for their defensive discipline and quick counter-attacks, making use of their pace in transitions. Al Shabab, on the other hand, will play under pressure as they need a win to bounce back from their defeat to Dhofar in the second round. The team is well-organised in midfield but needs greater attacking efficiency in front of goal.
