MELAKA – A male social media influencer who dressed and behaved like a woman was detained by the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (Jaim) while doing a live broadcast on TikTok in Banda Hilir, here, early Monday morning.
Jaim director Datuk Md Azhan Samat said the 25-year-old man was arrested by the department's enforcement officers at about 1.30am following public complaints.
He said the man was wearing a purple blouse, a bun-styled wig, women's shoes and earrings during the inspection.
"The items were seized by the religious enforcement officers and will be used as evidence in the case," he said in a statement.
He added that the man was brought to Jaim's office for documentation process and further investigation.
Jaim conducted the raid following public complaints claiming that the man's actions were promoting and normalising the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community culture in the country, which made many people uncomfortable.
Azhan reminded Muslims not to adopt LGBT lifestyles as it is prohibited in Islam and may offend the sensitivities of Malaysians.
"This act is also against the law, which does not support any form of LGBT practices in Malaysia.
"The case is being investigated under Section 72 of the Syariah Offences Enactment (Melaka State) 1991 (which pertains to the offence of a man posing as a woman in a public place)," he said.
Those found guilty of the offence are liable to a fine of up to RM1,000, a jail term of up to six months or both.

Preacher under fire for allegedly defrauding dozens
Compiled by C. ARUNO, SHYAFIQ DZULKIFLI and R. ARAVINTHAN A self-proclaimed preacher is under investigation for allegedly defrauding dozens of victims through business dealings, Umrah travel packages and religious school funding, Harian Metro reported. The 39-year-old preacher, who is also embroiled in a sex video scandal allegedly featuring his four wives, is now accused of cheating individuals and companies out of more than RM500,000. One victim, Diyana, 40, claimed her company loaned RM60,000 to support a religious school run by the preacher and paid RM5,000 monthly for its electricity over two years. 'The truth started to emerge when he asked us to supply Umrah bags worth RM40,000. He promised to pay later but never did. After several months, he failed to settle the debt and could not be contacted. 'In April 2023, my husband and a friend confronted him, but instead of resolving the matter, he shouted at them.' Another victim, a 52-year-old civil servant, said he lost over RM9,000 after paying for a bogus Umrah package. 'Close to the departure date, I was told there were various issues. I grew suspicious and requested a cancellation and a refund,' he said. Despite providing a partial reimbursement of RM6,900, the remaining balance remains unpaid so far. Following multiple police reports, the preacher was remanded for four days and later released on bail. > Actor Keith Foo has hinted at embracing Islam next year as he prepares to tie the knot with actress Riena Diana, Kosmo! reported. The 42-year-old, whose real name is Foo Chuan Chin, revealed that his interest in religion, particularly Islam, began even before his relationship with Riena. Since dating the Kampung People star, he has sought her guidance in learning Islamic practices, including reciting daily prayers. Riena, 27, shared that Keith has also entrusted her with the honour of choosing his Islamic name, though the couple is not ready to make it public. 'I'm happy he wants to understand the religion first. We don't want people to think he's converting just for marriage,' Riena said, adding that Keith expressed his desire to learn about Islam even before proceeding with the wedding. The couple, however, is not rushing into marriage and has left the decision to their families. 'If possible, let the decision come from our families. If our families agree, we will proceed with the wedding. For now, both of us are busy with work. Please pray for us.' [Watch] Malaysian Cyclists Face Public Backlash After Confronting Bus Driver
Subscribe to our FREE A viral video showing a confrontation between cyclists and a Rapid bus driver has generated unexpected public reaction, with many expressing support for the driver. In the footage, the cycling group accused the driver of 'dangerously squeezing' them on the road and nearly causing an accident – their plan to garner public sympathy quickly unravelled. 'We were cycling on the left lane when this bus driver came driving dangerously close to us,' claimed one cyclist in the video. The group went further, posting the driver's full name, bus plate number, and employee ID online, apparently hoping to pressure Rapid's management into taking action. However, the video revealed something the cyclists may not have anticipated – they appeared to be riding side by side on the main road. This formation appeared to impede traffic flow, which viewers suggested may explain the bus driver's apparent frustration. Public Stands With Bus Driver Instead of the outrage they expected, the cyclists faced a torrent of criticism from Malaysians who watched the footage. 'Hundreds of comments flooded the post – and almost all of them criticised the cycling group, not the bus driver,' observed one social media user who watched the incident unfold online. The video showed the bus driver remaining remarkably calm throughout the confrontation. Despite being surrounded by a large group of cyclists, he stepped out of his vehicle alone to address the situation. Fortunately, Road Transport Department (JPJ) officers happened to pass by and helped defuse the tension. A Telling Comparison One comment particularly resonated with viewers: 'We always get angry at kids on basikal lajak for playing on roads and endangering themselves. But now, adults are setting the wrong example – cycling in groups, dominating main lanes and inconveniencing other road users.' The incident has led to broader discussions about road sharing and cycling etiquette in Malaysia. Many commenters expressed long-standing frustrations with some cycling groups whose road behaviour has drawn criticism. Rather than facing disciplinary action, some believe the bus driver deserves recognition for his professionalism under pressure. 'He represents the voice of the majority of road users who have long been fed up with the attitude of certain cycling groups who act as they please,' wrote one supporter. In Malaysia's social media landscape, public opinion doesn't always align with the original poster's intentions, and sometimes, the camera captures more than bargained for.
