CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The driver of Shiv Sena's MP and former state minister Sandipan Bhumre and his MLA son, Vilas, is facing an inquiry by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) over the receipt of a three-acre prime land at Dawoodpura on Jalna Road in Sambhajinagar, valued at Rs150 crore as per the Ready Reckoner rate, in a 'Hibanama' (gift deed) from one of the descendants of the Salar Jung family in Hyderabad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city police said.
"The inquiry is based on a complaint lodged by a lawyer from Parbhani," Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar commissioner of police Pravin Pawar told TOI on Thursday.
The Salar Jung family was a prominent noble family, whose members served as prime ministers to the Nizams in the erstwhile Hyderabad estate.

Sambhaji Pawar, the EOW inspector, told TOI, "We have summoned the driver, Jawed Rasul Shaikh (38), for questioning and asked him to submit copies of his I-T returns, established sources of income, and to explain on what basis the gift deed has been signed in his name.
The family members, who executed the gift deed, have so far failed to turn up."
TOI on Thursday tried to contact the Salar Jung family members. However, these numbers were switched off. The Sena MP's son, Vilas Bhumre, who represents Paithan assembly constituency, told TOI, "The EOW officials asked me questions on this matter. I told them that we are in no way related to the land transaction. 'Hibanama' is a legally valid means of transaction of properties.

Though Jawed is our driver, we do not have control over everything he does.
"
Driver Jawed told TOI, "I have been cooperating with the inquiry and have submitted all details. I have been employed with the Bhumres for the last 12 to 13 years as a driver on their vehicles. The police asked me about information related to the land. I told them that I received it through Hibanama. I share good relations with the descendants of the family, and so they gifted the land to me."
The EOW is inquiring into the Hibanama signed by the Salar Jung descendants - Mir Mazhar Ali Khan and six of his kin.
Police said the gift deed states Salar Jung's private piece of land, measuring 12 acres, is situated in the Bagsherganj area, Dawoodpura. It states the family received 12,438.2 square metres as a share after a series of litigations at the land records office and the secretariat, before the minister of state for revenue, on Jan 30, 2023, upheld the superintendent of land record's decision passed in 2016, ruling it in their favour.
Police said around the same time, Salar Jung descendants signed a Hibanama in favour of Jawed.
Parbhani lawyer Mujahid Khan, who reported the matter to police, asked, "Why would Salar Jung's descendants give a gift deed to a driver in Sambhajinagar, and that too after the matter has been ruled in their favour. A Hibanama is legally valid only if done in blood relations. Here, the Salar Jung descendants and the driver are not only unrelated but also belong to two different sects of Islam."

Serbia protests: Students lead massive rally against Vucic, thousands demand elections, dozens arrested

Serbia protests: Students lead massive rally against Vucic, thousands demand elections, dozens arrested Dozens of anti‑government demonstrators were arrested in Serbia's capital on Saturday night after hours‑long clashes with riot police that followed one of the largest protests against President Aleksandar Vucic in recent years. 'We want elections!'- slogans were raised by protestors who overflowed Slavija Square and nearby streets during the student‑led rally, capping nearly eight months of near‑daily dissent that has shaken Vucic's decade‑long hold on power. Protesters hurled eggs, bottles and other objects while police deployed shields and pepper spray. Officers were seen handcuffing detainees on the pavement; the interior ministry later said 'dozens of hooligans' were in custody. Six policemen and an unspecified number of citizens were injured. 'Serbia always wins in the end,' Vucic wrote on Instagram even as tensions flared. The former ultranationalist, accused by critics of eroding democratic freedoms while courting Russia and China, has repeatedly rejected calls for snap polls. 'Elections are a clear way out of the social crisis,' one speaker declared. 'Today, on June 28, 2025, we declare the current authorities illegitimate.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Another student, Darko Kovacevic, told the crowd: 'We are mired in corruption.' Police estimated the turnout at 36,000; an independent monitor put it closer to 140,000. Interior minister Ivica Dacic accused protesters of attacking police and vowed all offenders would face justice. Serbia's next presidential and parliamentary elections are scheduled for 2027.

Abu Dhabi Police warns drivers misusing Darb Toll timing; reminds motorists of Dh500 fine for disrupting traffic

Abu Dhabi Police reminded motorists to refrain from stopping on road shoulders, especially near the 'Darb' toll gates, except in case of an emergency. This reminder came after instances of violations were detected through advanced smart surveillance systems. The concerned authorities asserted that the act of stopping illegally and blocking the flow of traffic can attract a fine of Dh500. This move comes after the Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police noticed that drivers are intentionally pulling over on the shoulder just before the toll gates, waiting for the toll-free period to start, according to Gulf News. This act increases the chances of endangering the lives of people on the road and disrupts traffic flow. Abu Dhabi Police shared a video on Friday, June 27, 2025, in which several drivers were caught stopping a few minutes before crossing the toll gate and only moving after the toll-free period began. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Join new Free to Play WWII MMO War Thunder War Thunder Play Now Undo — ADPoliceHQ (@ADPoliceHQ) The Darb toll gate system was implemented in January 2021 to minimise the traffic congestion in Abu Dhabi and to encourage the use of public transport. Bengaluru auto overcharging row: Transport Minister slams app-based 'loot', vows permit cancellations for 'daylight robbery'

Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has directed the Transport Commissioner to take strict action against autorickshaws in Bengaluru, including those operating via mobile apps, for charging passengers more than the government-fixed fares. He called the practice 'daylight robbery' in a letter dated June 28. The minister said that if any autorickshaw driver is found overcharging or cancelling rides when commuters refuse to pay extra, their permit should be cancelled and a police case should be registered immediately. Citing specific examples, Reddy referred to fare data from June 18. 'Rapido Auto App charged Rs 100.89 per km, while Auto O App charged Rs 184.19 for a 4 km ride,' he said, calling this 'unforgivable'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo As per government rules, the official meter fare in Karnataka is Rs 30 for the first 1.9 km and Rs 15 for each additional kilometre. However, complaints about overcharging and ride refusals have continued to flood in, the minister added. Reddy said that although the Transport Department has taken action earlier, tougher and more effective steps are now needed. He also attached commuter-provided screenshots as evidence and asked the department to create a detailed action plan. Live Events 'It has been directed to immediately prepare an effective action plan to protect the public and take stern action against auto drivers and owners found guilty,' he said. Inputs from TOI
