EOW issues fresh summons to Salar Jung kin, Sena MP's driver in Rs150 crore land gift case
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The economic offences wing of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city police on Friday issued fresh summons to the descendants of the Salar Jung family from Hyderabad and Jawed Rasul Shaikh, driver of Shiv Sena MP Sandipan Bhumre and his MLA son Vilas. Police are probing the legality of a gift deed or hibanama under which the Jung family transferred a three-acre plot valued at more than Rs150 crore in the driver's name. Mir Mehmud Ali Khan, one of the descendants of Salar Jung, and his kin, along with Shaikh, failed to respond to the earlier summons. "After they did not turn up to record their statements the first time, fresh notices have been issued asking them to remain present before EOW," EOW inspector Sambhaji Pawar said. On Thursday, Vilas Bhumre, MLA from Paithan, distanced himself and his father from the transaction. "Though Jawed is our driver, we are in no way connected to the land deal," he said, adding that he was also questioned by EOW in this case. The land in question, located in Dawoodpura on Jalna Road, is part of a 12-acre parcel claimed by the Salar Jung family. According to the gift deed, 12,438.2 square metres (around three acres) were transferred to Jawed after a 2023 revenue department ruling upheld the family's claim to the land following a prolonged legal battle. The inquiry was initiated after a police complaint by Parbhani-based lawyer Mujahid Khan, who raised questions about the propriety of such a high-value land gift to a driver, unrelated by blood and belonging to a different sect of Islam. As per Islamic law, hibanamas or gift deeds are generally considered valid among blood relatives. Jawed, who has been working with the Bhumre family for more than a decade, earlier told TOI that he shared good relations with the Salar Jung family and received the land as a gift. EOW continues to scrutinise the documents submitted by the complainant and is awaiting the appearance of all parties concerned for ascertaining facts.

Hyderabad royals 'gift' Rs 150 crore land to Shiv Sena MP's driver, cops smell a rat
A shocking gift deed has raised eyebrows in Maharashtra: a three-acre land plot, worth nearly Rs 150 crore, was reportedly gifted by members of the royal Salar Jung family from Hyderabad to a driver working for Shiv Sena MP Sandipanrao Bhumre. This unusual transfer has now sparked a full investigation. What happened? Jawed Rasul Shaikh, who has worked as a driver for MP Bhumre and his MLA son Vilas for 13 years, suddenly became the legal owner of prime land on Jalna Road in Dawoodpura, Sambhajinagar. According to the gift deed (called hibanama), the land was given by Mir Mazhar Ali Khan and six relatives, descendants of the famous Salar Jung family, once prime ministers under the Nizam of Hyderabad. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police is probing how such a valuable piece of land was gifted to someone with no known ties to the family. Jawed told TOI that he had shared a good relationship with the Salar Jung descendants, which is why they gave him the land. He added that he's cooperating fully with the investigation and has already submitted all documents requested by the police. Police take on the case Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar said the probe began after a lawyer from Parbhani filed a complaint. Inspector Sambhaji Pawar from the EOW team said, 'We're reviewing Jawed's income, tax returns, and possible sources of wealth. He needs to clearly explain why such a valuable gift was given to him.' Live Events The EOW has also sent notices to the Salar Jung family members involved in the deed, but they haven't responded yet. Politicians react Vilas Bhumre, MLA from Paithan, said that while Jawed is their driver, they don't control his personal decisions. 'The police also questioned me, but a hibanama is a legally valid document. If Jawed received land through it, that's his matter,' he said. Legal and religious questions raised Lawyer Mujahid Khan, who filed the complaint, said what caught his eye was that Jawed has no family link to the Salar Jung descendants. He also pointed out that a hibanama is typically valid only between blood relatives. 'Jawed and the Hyderabad royals not only belong to different families but also follow different sects of Islam,' Khan added. Calls to the Salar Jung family members have gone unanswered, adding further mystery to the already strange land gift. Inputs from TOI

‘Hibanama': Shiv Sena MP Sandipanrao Bhumre's driver gets Rs 150 crore land as ‘gift' from descendants of Hyderabad's Salar Jung kin; EOW questions deal
Representative image CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The driver of Shiv Sena's MP and former state minister Sandipan Bhumre and his MLA son, Vilas, is facing an inquiry by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) over the receipt of a three-acre prime land at Dawoodpura on Jalna Road in Sambhajinagar, valued at Rs150 crore as per the Ready Reckoner rate, in a 'Hibanama' (gift deed) from one of the descendants of the Salar Jung family in Hyderabad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city police said. "The inquiry is based on a complaint lodged by a lawyer from Parbhani," Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar commissioner of police Pravin Pawar told TOI on Thursday. The Salar Jung family was a prominent noble family, whose members served as prime ministers to the Nizams in the erstwhile Hyderabad estate. Cop lens on MP's driver for gift land Sambhaji Pawar, the EOW inspector, told TOI, "We have summoned the driver, Jawed Rasul Shaikh (38), for questioning and asked him to submit copies of his I-T returns, established sources of income, and to explain on what basis the gift deed has been signed in his name. The family members, who executed the gift deed, have so far failed to turn up." TOI on Thursday tried to contact the Salar Jung family members. However, these numbers were switched off. The Sena MP's son, Vilas Bhumre, who represents Paithan assembly constituency, told TOI, "The EOW officials asked me questions on this matter. I told them that we are in no way related to the land transaction. 'Hibanama' is a legally valid means of transaction of properties. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trending in in 2025: Local network access control [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo Though Jawed is our driver, we do not have control over everything he does. " Driver Jawed told TOI, "I have been cooperating with the inquiry and have submitted all details. I have been employed with the Bhumres for the last 12 to 13 years as a driver on their vehicles. The police asked me about information related to the land. I told them that I received it through Hibanama. I share good relations with the descendants of the family, and so they gifted the land to me." The EOW is inquiring into the Hibanama signed by the Salar Jung descendants - Mir Mazhar Ali Khan and six of his kin. Police said the gift deed states Salar Jung's private piece of land, measuring 12 acres, is situated in the Bagsherganj area, Dawoodpura. It states the family received 12,438.2 square metres as a share after a series of litigations at the land records office and the secretariat, before the minister of state for revenue, on Jan 30, 2023, upheld the superintendent of land record's decision passed in 2016, ruling it in their favour. Police said around the same time, Salar Jung descendants signed a Hibanama in favour of Jawed. Parbhani lawyer Mujahid Khan, who reported the matter to police, asked, "Why would Salar Jung's descendants give a gift deed to a driver in Sambhajinagar, and that too after the matter has been ruled in their favour. A Hibanama is legally valid only if done in blood relations. Here, the Salar Jung descendants and the driver are not only unrelated but also belong to two different sects of Islam."

Shiv Sena MP's driver gets Rs 150 crore land as 'gift' from Salar Jung kin
CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: A mysterious gift deed transferring ownership of a three-acre parcel of land in Maharashtra, valued at around Rs 150 crore, from descendants of Hyderabad's famous Salar Jung family to Shiv Sena MP Sandipanrao Bhumre's driver has triggered more than just incredulous surprise at his sudden turn of fortune. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police is investigating how Jawed Rasul Shaikh, who has been driving around the MP and his MLA son Vilas Bhumre for 13 years, is linked to the estate of the erstwhile Diwan of Hyderabad, Salar Jung. Jawed told TOI that he was cooperating with the inquiry and had already submitted the details investigators had asked for. "I share good relations with the descendants of the Salar Jung family, so they gifted the land to me," he said. Police commissioner Pravin Pawar said Thursday that Jawed was summoned based on a complaint by a lawyer from Parbhani, flagging the "hibanama" (gift deed) in his name for what is regarded as "prime land" at Dawoodpura along Jalna Road in Sambhajinagar. "We will scan Jawed's income tax returns and details of any other source of income. He needs to explain why anyone from the Salar Jung family would make a gift deed in his name, giving away three acres in a prime location," inspector Sambhaji Pawar, part of the EOW team probing the land transfer, told TOI. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trending in in 2025: Local network access control [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo Members of the Salar Jung family who signed the deed - Mir Mazhar Ali Khan and six of his relatives - are still to respond to EOW's notice to have their statements recorded, the officer said. Vilas, who represents Paithan constituency, protested against police allegedly dragging him and his father into the controversy over a land transfer deed in Jawed's name. "EOW officials questioned me, too. Although Jawed is our driver, we don't have control over everything he does. In any case, hibanama is a legally valid process of gifting assets," he said. Several members of the Salar Jung family served as prime ministers to the erstwhile Nizams of Hyderabad. The gift deed executed by Mazhar Ali and six others states that they received their share of three out of 12 acres belonging to the clan at Bagsherganj in Dawoodpura after a prolonged litigation lasting till Jan 30, 2023. Police have found out that the gift deed in favour of Jawed was executed around the same time. Lawyer Mujahid Khan, whose complaint led EOW to initiate the probe, said his curiosity was piqued by the fact that Jawed wasn't even remotely related to the Salar Jung clan. "Why would the descendants of Salar Jung from Hyderabad give a gift deed to a person working as a driver in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and that too after winning a legal battle for the same property. Also, a hibanama is legally valid only between blood relatives. The Salar Jung descendants and the driver are not only unrelated, they belong to two different sects of Islam." Repeated calls to numbers belonging to members of the Salar Jung family went unanswered.

YOUTUBE'S first-ever video was uploaded 20 years ago today: a 19-second clip with more than 355 million views. The snippet of footage dates back to YouTube's April 23, 2005 launch. 4 YouTube's first-ever clip is now 20 years old – and takes place at San Diego Zoo in California Credit: YouTube/Jawed 4 The clip has earned over 335 million views, and was posted by one of YouTube's three co-founders Credit: YouTube/Jawed It's called "Me at the zoo" and it was uploaded by YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim. These days, YouTube is a household name, and is owned by tech giant Google. But in 2005, it was just a hopeful project dreamed up by three former PayPal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Karim (who uploaded that first clip). Google eventually backed down on the decision, and ultimately killed off Google+ in 2019.
