Panthers LS JJ Jansen seems pretty stoked about his Madden NFL 26 rating
On Thursday, EA Sports revealed the top ten Madden NFL 26 ratings for the league's long snappers. And Jansen, who is now in his 17th season with the Panthers, found himself all the way up at No. 5 . . .
As Jansen alludes to, the game has previously listed him as a tight end—and a pretty bad one, at that. He was given a dreadful overall rating of 36 in both Madden NFL 24 and Madden NFL 25.
But this year, EA Sports has decided to properly identify Jansen and his fellow long snappers in creating a more realistic simulation.
Oh, and Jansen wasn't the only Panther to receive a top-ten rating at his position. He's joined by Derrick Brown, whose 95 mark is good enough for the third overall spot amongst all defensive linemen.

Panthers rookie has sensational performance at Tuesday's practice
A hidden gem of the Carolina Panthers' 2025 draft class may not be hidden for much longer. Safety Lathan Ransom put his stamp all over Tuesday's rainy outing of training camp. The rookie defensive back not only picked off starting quarterback Bryce Young, but also punctuated the workout with a sack of third-stringer Jack Plummer on the last play of 11-on-11 drills. Head coach Dave Canales talked about Ransom's sparkling performance after the final whistle. "Just being where he's supposed to be," Canales said of Ransom, whom the Panthers selected in the fourth round of the 2025 draft. "I think one thing that I'm noticing about him is he always seems to be in great position to make a play. And that comes with study, that comes with being disciplined about owning your leverage, analyzing the formation, run-pass and then putting yourselves in an athletic position to make plays. And I couldn't be happier with where he's at and where he's headed." Ransom showed that discipline and preparation during his impressive collegiate career at Ohio State University. There, as a three-year starter and national champion, the six-foot, 206-pounder amassed 227 combined tackles, three interceptions, 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. Reporters also got a chance to talk to Ransom this afternoon, and he credited his standout session to the vibes from his teammates. "Yeah, I think the [defensive backs] brought a lot of energy today—between Jaycee [Horn], Mike [Jackson], Demani [Richardson], Tre [Swilling], all them, Nick [Scott]," Ransom said. "Lettin' us know that it don't matter if it's raining or snowing, we gotta go out there and show up." The 23-year-old is in the mix for the starting job next to fellow safety Tre'von Moehrig, who signed a three-year, $51 million deal out of free article originally appeared on Panthers Wire: Panthers S Lathan Ransom has sensational outing at Tuesday's practice

Detroit Lions draft pick threatening to take struggling veteran's role
Detroit Lions draft pick threatening to take struggling veteran's role originally appeared on The Sporting News Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa might go from surprise draft pick to starter in his first season in the NFL. TeSlaa wasn't on anyone's radar when the Lions traded up to draft him in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft, but general manager Brad Holmes has never been someone who goes with the flow and it's clear the Lions think highly of him. That has become more evident as the offseason progresses, and especially lately. TeSlaa has reportedly worked his way into first-team reps. Meanwhile, veteran Tim Patrick, who is expected to be Detroit's WR3 behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, has struggled. 'Don't look now, but Isaac TeSlaa is starting to get sprinkled in with the first-team offense," Justin Rogers of the Detroit Football Network reported. "With Patrick battling inconsistency, and TeSlaa exceeding early expectations, the Lions are exploring what the rookie can do against higher-caliber defenders.' On top of flashing in practice, TeSlaa impressed in his preseason debut, also, when he reeled in two catches for a team-high 46 yards, with those receptions going for 24 and 22 yards. TeSlaa also showed he can make an impact on special teams after a strong gunner rep on one of the Lions' punts in the contest. Patrick was a solid contributor for the Lions last season, with his 394 receiving yards ranking fifth on the team, and third among wide receivers. However, as we've seen over the years, head coach Dan Campbell doesn't just hand big roles to players, so don't rule out TeSlaa passing Patrick on the depth chart if the veteran can't find his footing moving forward. Panthers HC Dave Canales provides injury update on WR Hunter Renfrow
One of the early stars of Carolina Panthers training camp remained sidelined on Tuesday. Wide receiver Hutner Renfrow, who continues to deal with a hamstring injury, missed a third straight practice this morning. Head coach Dave Canales was asked about the 29-year-old veteran's status following what was a particularly rainy outing. "He is doin' great," Canales replied. "He's in return-to-play right now with our training department. He's running, he's cutting. I think it's just the load of practice that we're just trying to be smart on, and just get him completely healthy so we can really see him in these games. And I feel really strongly that he's there, but I think it's more of a capacity thing." After missing the entire 2024 campaign due to ulcerative colitis, Renfrow returned to the NFL this past spring on a one-year deal with the Panthers. The former Pro Bowler has shined throughout offseason workouts, and has made quite a bid for the team's initial 53-man roster. Canales was then asked if Renfrow will be available to play in the team's first exhibition game later this week. "We have not made the decision," he stated. "We need to have this practice tomorrow so that we can kind of regroup and see where our group is at, on both sides." The other side was without rookie outside linebacker Nic Scourton, who has also been nursing a mild hamstring injury. Canales said the 2025 second-round pick is in the "same boat" as Renfrow in terms of availability and recovery.
