The body of a cyclist who was killed when he landed on his head after his bike came off a high kerb was ignored by several passing motorists as he lay in the road.
The victim was cycling home from work when he tried to jump down and seemed to misjudge the height as his front wheel hit the road. The bicycle ended up practically vertical, throwing the man from it. In horror scenes captured on CCTV too graphic to show, he lands directly on top of his head and finally crumples to the ground. Horrifically, the footage showed several cars driving past him as he lay ignored on the road.

One car seemed to veer around him after the horror accident in Três Corações, north-east of São Paulo, Brazil, last Sunday.
According to reports, a passing paramedic eventually pulled over to attend to the injured cyclist. They said the young man had cracked his skull and was haemorrhaging blood.
The victim was taken to the nearby São Sebastião Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He was heading to his home in the Flora neighbourhood when he suffered the fatal accident.

Earlier this year it was reported a cyclist was on the brink of death after crashing into a cattle trailer. Jon Hill, a 62-year-old project manager from Macclesfield, was on his "favourite route" when the accident happened in August 2022.

Luckily, passing motorists spotted him and called 999 - since then, he has become friends with the strangers who rescued him and even celebrated the one-year anniversary of the accident with them. When Jon arrived at the hospital, doctors found he had broken his collarbones and ribs, and punctured his kidney.
Looking back, Jon only has fleeting memories of seeing people at his bedside and can barely remember the crash itself. With the help of physiotherapy, Jon slowly began to recover.
The near-death experience made him reassess his life, leading him to work part-time and volunteer at the North West Air Ambulance Charity to give something back.
Jon said: "I was pretty poorly. I had various fractures and a broken collarbone and broken ribs. My broken ribs punctured my kidney so when I was in hospital, they did a procedure called embolisation so they actually cut off the blood supply to the kidneys.

"So the kidney is still there, but I'm told it would just shrivel up and do nothing. I think that together with the lacerated liver was the reason why I had the problem that I had at the scene, which if without the intervention from doctors I probably wouldn't have made it I don't think I was very far from death."

Police are hunting for a woman who allegedly sexually assaulted a male train worker as he walked through a carriage late at night. At the time of the assault, the railway employee had been passing through a carriage as it travelled between Sutton Parkway and Shirebrook in northern Nottinghamshire. The attack is said to have occurred at around 9pm on Saturday, May 31. Now, the British Transport Police have issued an urgent appeal for the public's assistance and are hoping to speak to a woman captured on CCTV on the day of the incident. Officers believe that she could hold vital information that could help aid their investigation. Anyone who recognises the woman has been asked to contact British Transport Police. A spokesperson for the force said: 'Police investigating a sexual assault on a rail staff member in Nottinghamshire have released this image in connection. 'At around 9pm on Saturday 31 May, a member of staff was on a train between Sutton Parkway and Shirebrook. 'As he walked down the carriage, a woman sexually assaulted him. 'Officers would like to speak to the woman pictured as they believe she may have information that could assist their enquiries.' Any individuals with relevant information or able to identify the woman pictured have been asked to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 682 of 31 May. Information can also be reported anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. It come after a Great Western Railway train manager was jailed for seven years in February after he sexually assaulted an 18-year-old passenger when asking to check her ticket. Nicholas McMurray, 38, approached the victim and asked to see her ticket, and adjusted the woman's dress, British Transport Police said. The 18-year-old had been standing and chatting on the phone in the vestibule shortly before it arrived in Swansea when McMurray sexually assaulted her on June 22, 2024. He continued to hold the victim until the train pulled into the station and made sexually explicit comments to her before touching her again as she got off the train. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, bravely reported the incident to officers at the station. Police found the 38-year-old standing by the stationary train when he was arrested. Predator McMurray was 'immediately removed from duty as train manager for GWR' and no longer works there. He was been found guilty of sexual assault and assault by penetration as Swansea Crown Court on February 5. Last year he was sentenced to seven years in prison and put on the sex offenders register for life. Anyone who is a victim or a witness to a sexual offence on a railway has been urged to report it by texting 61016. A GWR spokesperson said: 'We are committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and trust for our customers and employees. 'As soon as we became aware of the incident, we took immediate action to remove the individual from duty and he no longer works for the business.'

TfL's bus shelter CCTV trial to be expanded across London
A trial of CCTV at bus stops across the capital has made women feel safe and will be expanded, Transport for London (TfL) has trialled at five bus shelters in March 2024, 15 more cameras were installed at bus stops in Brent, Croydon, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hillingdon, Lambeth, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest and said 80% of 1,000 women surveyed said CCTV made them feel safe and 73% stated they would be more likely to travel by at a City Hall meeting with TfL's board on Monday, transport commissioner Andy Lord said: "This is a really important initiative for us, particularly in reducing violence against women and girls." The cameras, which are integrated into the shelters themselves, retain recordings for 31 days to support police investigations. Claire Mann, chief operating officer for TfL, said four of the 20 bus shelters already analysed showed the trial had had "a very, very positive impact".She said: "We're going to analyse the remaining 16 shelters and it's quite clear that rolling out CCTV at bus shelters is definitely the way forward."We need to obviously ensure we have the funding to do so but it sounds like we're going to be rolling that out further now."

A man who pursued and raped two drunken men and a woman on nights out before stealing their mobile phones and credit cards has been Ali Djelid targeted his victims in Manchester's China Town and Canal Street areasThe 39-year-old, of Gatcombe Square, Manchester, was convicted of five counts of rape in the city centre following a five-week trial at Manchester Crown Court. Djelid, who initially gave a false name to police and the courts, will be sentenced on 6 October. A Crown Prosecution Service spokeswoman said the case began with Djelid first appearing as Mourad Malki, 38, which was the name he gave the police and the name used in several court hearings. She added: "It seems at some stage during proceedings; the court determined his true identity."Greater Manchester Police said in the first of his three rapes CCTV footage showed Djelid leading a female victim down a "secluded back street" near China Town before raping her and stealing her phone early on 18 February phone was tracked to Cheetham Hill, very close to his home at the raped his second victim, who was visiting Manchester for work, four months later on 12 spoke to the man outside a bar on Canal Street before walking him to a remote area near Richmond Street, raping him and stealing his phone, his watch and a necklace. 'Good Samaritan' A final attack saw him raping and robbing a tourist on 18 said Djelid offered to help the man back to his hotel and acted as a "concerned Good Samaritan but his intentions were anything but sincere".He led the victim to a secluded area near Jutland Street before assaulting him and stealing his mobile phone and then used a stolen bank card at a service station in Cheetham Hill before attempting to make a further transaction which was declined. Rebekah Tomlinson, district crown prosecutor in the north, said Djelid was a serial sex offender who posed a serious danger to men and women carrying out "horrifying crimes in one of the most celebrated and historic nightlife hotspots in the country".She added: "Canal Street holds a special place in the heritage of Manchester and the LGBT community, and those on a night out have the right to enjoy themselves free from the fear of abuse and attack."Det Insp Paul Davies said: "Being drunk is not a crime. Everybody who visits the city centre should feel safe in the knowledge that they can go and enjoy themselves without fear of being attacked."He said what made his "horrific" sexual attacks "particularly heinous" was their "deliberate and premeditated nature" by seeking intoxicated people and posing as an "upstanding member of the public".Djelid previously admitted four counts of theft at an earlier hearing.
