Singapore says cyber espionage group targeting critical infrastructure
SINGAPORE, July 18 (Reuters) - Singapore said on Friday that it was responding to cyberattacks on its critical infrastructure by an espionage group alleged by security experts to be linked to China. "UNC3886 poses a serious threat to us, and has the potential to undermine our national security,' Coordinating Minister for National Security K. Shanmugam said in a speech. "It is going after high value strategic threat targets, vital infrastructure that delivers essential services." He did not give details of the attacks, citing security risks, nor of any consequences. Google-owned cybersecurity firm Mandiant has described UNC3886 as a "China-nexus espionage group" that has attacked defense, technology and telecommunications organizations in the U.S. and Asia. Beijing routinely denies any allegations of cyberespionage, and says it opposes all forms of cyberattacks and is in fact a victim of such threats. The Chinese embassy did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent after office hours. Singapore's critical infrastructure sectors include energy, water, banking, finance, healthcare, transport, government, communication, media, as well as security and emergency services, according to the country's cyber agency. Reuters earlier this week reported that the Taiwanese semiconductor industry and investment analysts had been targeted by Chinese-linked hackers as part of a string of cyber espionage campaigns.

New SUPER-Viagra pill is stronger and could have fewer side effects, scientists find
SCIENTISTS are developing a new super-Viagra that is stronger than the little blue pill at just a tenth of the dose. Experimental drug simenafil was tested on 706 men by a team at the Peking University First Hospital in China. 1 Results showed that 12 weeks of treatment improved men's erectile function by an average of 12.3 per cent. The scientists said original Viagra, known as sildenafil, caused an approximately 11.8 per cent improvement in studies and other brands are less effective. The real catch is that the dose is tiny in comparison, they added – just 5mg compared to a standard 50mg dose of Viagra. This could make it cheaper or reduce the risk of side effects. The drugs are called PDE5 inhibitors and work by blocking an enzyme that restricts blood flow to the penis, causing it to relax and function normally for sex. Unwanted side effects might include headaches, sickness, hot flushes, indigestion, a stuffy nose or feeling dizzy. 'Effective at low doses' Writing in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, study author Dr Hui Jiang said: 'Owing to these adverse events, novel and alternative therapies are needed for patients with erectile dysfunction. 'The results so far show oral simenafil was effective and well-tolerated in male patients. 'Therefore, we believe that it will provide an additional reliable treatment option. 'Overall, the evaluation indicated that simenafil was as effective as other PDE5 inhibitors even at very low doses. 'It showed that intercourse satisfaction, orgasmic function, sexual desire and overall satisfaction increased.' Erectile dysfunction is common and becomes more likely with age, illness and weight gain. What is Erectile Dysfunction? At least half of men are expected to suffer once they get into middle and old age. NHS doctors last year prescribed record amounts of bedroom-boosting drugs like Viagra, dishing out 4.7million prescriptions at a cost of £17.6million.

Top Republican on China panel objects to resumption of Nvidia H20 chip shipments
WASHINGTON, July 18 (Reuters) - John Moolenaar, chairman of the House Select Committee on China, on Friday objected to the resumption of Nvidia H20 equivalent graphics processing unit sales to China in a letter to U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. "The Commerce Department made the right call in banning the H20," Moolenaar wrote. "We can't let the (Chinese Communist Party) use American chips to train AI models that will power its military, censor its people, and undercut American innovation." Shares of Nvidia (NVDA.O), opens new tab turned negative after the news regarding the artificial intelligence chip. Representatives of the Commerce Department and Nvidia did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
