We found out in May that newcomer Dominic McLaughlin would be playing the new Harry Potter for HBO's upcoming reboot series, and now we have our first look at McLaughlin as the iconic character. You can see McLaughlin as the Boy Who Lived below.

Production has begun at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K. where the shot above was taken.

Along with the first look image of McLaughlin as Harry Potter, HBO has confirmed more names added to the cast of its upcoming series. Rory Wilmot will play Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson is playing Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey will play Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser will play Garrick Ollivander.
Back when McLaughlin was revealed as the new Harry Potter back in May, he wasn't alone. Also announced were the other two members of the series' famous trio: Arabella Stanton was cast as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout takes on the role of Ron Weasley.
At the time, "Harry Potter" showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod released an official press statement which said, "After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron."
"The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It's been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there."
McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout were reportedly cast only after over 32,000 auditions.
In the films Harry, Hermione, and Ron were played respectively by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
The three newcomers join an impressive cast for the upcoming reboot series, including Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Just as most of the movies covered the events of a single "Harry Potter" book, most individual seasons of the new "Harry Potter" TV series are meant to cover the events of a single novel of creator J.K. Rowling's.
The first season will focus on the events of Rowling's first "Harry Potter" novel, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone."

"It has been such a delight from start to finish. I will miss working with these people everyday SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other's lives. Get ready for a lot more carousels in the weeks to come! And don't miss these last few episodes: surprises in store!" Showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed that the series will be ending on August 14 following the two-part finale to series three and explained that the team "held off" announcing the news as they didn't want to "overshadow the fun" for audiences watching the final season. He said: "And just like that... the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That... season three, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.
