Gazza gives friends update on his health in message from hospital
Paul Gascoigne has sent a message to his friends and family from hospital today following his collapse at home. He told a pal: "I'm fine" after he was rushed into intensive care at the weekend.
The 58-year-old was discovered semi-conscious at home on Friday evening. He was taken to a hospital near his home in Poole, Dorset after his collapse. But Gazza has now told pals that he is feeling better. He was expected to remain in hospital for treatment for several days but may be allowed to leave earlier than expected. "He has told friends that he is fine and was going to give an update later today," said a source close to the star. "He has been doing well recently so this was an unexpected setback. He had a full three months without alcohol over the summer while he was doing various speaking engagements and looked really well."
In an interview with the Mirror last year, Gazza spoke openly of his long running battle with the booze and admitted that he 'fell off the wagon' at times.
The Friday drama ensued after Gazza's pal Steve Foster, known as 'Fozzie', found him in a bad way at home. Mr Foster, who is also Gazza's driver and personal assistant, rushed the star to hospital in his car after coming across the former footballer his bedroom.
He said last night: "Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now."
Gazza's reality star stepdaughter Bianca, his two sisters Lindsay and Anna and ex-footballer pals Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Paul Merson and Vinnie Jones are understood to be keeping tabs on his condition.
England legend Gascoigne is seen as one of the greatest playmakers of his generation, and is a firm favourite with fans.
He was capped 57 times and scored ten goals for his country between 1988 and 1998.
After coming through the youth ranks at local club Newcastle United, he made his debut for the Magpies in April 1985. He scored 25 times in 104 games for the Toon before moving to Spurs.
In north London, he helped Tottenham to the FA Cup in 1991 and spent four years with the club before moving to Lazio. He later represented Rangers, Middlesbrough, Everton and Burnley.
But it was with England that Gazza captured the nation's heart. He made his debut in September 1988 under Bobby Robson and would go on to be a key part of the Three Lions' run to the semi-finals at Italia 90.
His tears as England crashed out of the 1990 World Cup in the semi-final against Germany touched fans and he scored an unforgettable wonder goal at Euro 96 against Scotland.
He was controversially overlooked for the 1998 World Cup in France by Glenn Hoddle, ending his international career with 10 goals in 57 appearances.
Gazza's latest health scare comes after his company was shut down at the start of July when it failed to file records on time. Companies House announced the firm has been struck off and dissolved. Gazza was represented for years by booking agent Katie Davies.
It is believed that she has now stepped back from involvement in his day-to-day life. She was not available for comment today.

Alan Shearer accuses Newcastle of lying as Liverpool target Alexander Isak
Alan Shearer says it's 'disappointing' and 'ridiculous' that Newcastle expect fans to believe their statement suggesting Alexander Isak pulled out of their pre-season tour due to an injury. Eddie Howe named his 30-man party for the Toon's trip to Asia on Thursday and Isak's absence was, unsurprisingly, the headline news, with the striker supposedly struggling with a muscle issue. But it appears most Newcastle fans, Shearer included, simply aren't buying the club's explanation and are convinced Isak's withdrawal is more than likely linked to rumblings of an impending transfer. Isak's future has been the subject of intense speculation throughout the summer and the sought-after 25-year-old has reportedly told the Magpies of his desire to explore a move away from St James' Park. Liverpool have been alerted to a potential deal having renewed discussions with Newcastle to gauge the Swede's availability earlier this month. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. The Premier League champions would be prepared to splash out as much as £120million for the ex-Real Sociedad forward, despite already bringing in Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike this week. 'It's ridiculous what Newcastle put out this morning to say he wasn't on the trip because of a slight thigh injury,' legendary ex-Newcastle and England striker Shearer told Betfair. 'If they thought people wouldn't see through that, it's disappointing . They should've just told the truth straight away. I understand it's a very difficult situation for them but it is what it is. 'Eddie Howe has to use all his persuasive powers to do what he can and try to make him stay at least one more year. If that can't happen then it is what it is. 'You have to get the very best deal for the football club and if someone is prepared to pay north of £150m, and if he really, really wants to go, you can't step in his way.' Shearer believes Newcastle have no other option but to sign a replacement and 'build for the future' if Isak is adamant that he wants to move on. He added: 'Isak has been brilliant for Newcastle, helped us achieve our dream of winning a trophy and, if there's no way whatsoever that he can be persuaded to stay at Newcastle, then they have to get the best deal possible. 'If someone's prepared to pay what they want, you have to say thank you and build for the future. 'There's no individual bigger than the football club.' According to Shearer, the Premier League's all-time top scorer, there is no doubt that the Toon would be losing a truly 'world-class player' should Isak up sticks and leave. 'It sounds like Isak is going to leave. The news came out very strongly this morning and when that happens it seems to be a reality, he continued. 'Player's leave football clubs all the time and get replaced. If that's the case here, it's disappointing but you have to say thank you and move on. 'If Eddie can persuade him to stay, it'll be great but if he can't, it'll be very disappointing because Newcastle would be losing a world-class player.' Isak's possible departure has forced Newcastle to turn to the transfer market for a potential long-term successor up front. Yoane Wissa has been heavily linked and Shearer is an admirer of the Brentford forward, who 19 goals in the Premier League last term. However, he feels his former club may still need 'another two or three' high-quality signings so as not to leave Howe short ahead of the new season. More Trending 'For Newcastle, it's been a bit slow in terms of getting players that Eddie Howe wants so he can work with them,' Shearer went on. 'But Anthony Elanga is a good signing, a really good one, and if they're able to get Yoane Wissa then that's another very good signing. 'Elanga and Wissa would be two very good signings, and we've already got one of them but if, and it's a big if, Newcastle sign Wissa, I still feel as if they need another two or three in there. 'I know it sounds as if they're strongly in for James Trafford, although so may Manchester City be, but I'd think Eddie Howe would still want another two or three players on top of Wissa if they get him.' Woody Johnson completes purchase of Crystal Palace shares
Crystal Palace have confirmed that Woody Johnson's purchase of Eagle Football's shareholding in the club has been completed. American businessman Johnson – who is co-owner of the New York Jets – joins chairman Steve Parish, Josh Harris and David Blitzer as a partner and director of the Eagles, and has also signed the Premier League's Owners' Charter. 'I am honoured and privileged to be joining the ownership group of Crystal Palace Football Club,' Johnson told the Eagles website. 'It is an organisation with a proud history, tradition, and deep roots in English football in South London, which I came to admire during my time as US Ambassador to the United Kingdom. 'Eagles fans have demonstrated extraordinary loyalty, passion, and unwavering dedication and I am excited to meet and get to know them. 'I have great respect for Steve Parish and the leadership he has provided over the years. 'I look forward to working with him and the entire ownership group to build on the club's recent successes and help shape an exciting future for Crystal Palace. 'This is more than an investment – it's a commitment to realising the vision for the club, the community, and the culture around Selhurst Park.' Johnson's arrival at Palace comes with the club in dispute with UEFA over which European competition they will play in next season after winning the FA Cup in May. The Eagles were demoted from the Europa League to the Conference League after falling foul of UEFA's rules governing multi-club ownership, but have submitted an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. UEFA determined that as of March 1, American businessman John Textor had control or influence in Palace and French club Lyon. Textor said he had agreed to sell his stake in Palace to Johnson, but the move came too late to satisfy UEFA. Parish said: 'At this exciting time for Crystal Palace, we are delighted to be welcoming Woody to the ownership of the football club, and we very much look forward to working alongside him to build on our historic recent success moving forwards.'

Hulk Hogan's intense feud with ex-wife and daughter at the time of his death
Hulk Hogan seemed to take a jab at the painful family feud between his ex-wife Linda and daughter Brooke shortly before passing away at 71 Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan appeared to have taken a swipe at his family's ongoing feud shortly before his death. The WWE star passed away at the age of 71, with reports indicating cardiac arrest as the cause. In the period leading up to his passing, Hulk was estranged from his family, with daughter Brooke Hogan reportedly cutting ties with both her parents. The emotional fallout was recently brought to light by his ex-wife Linda in an emotional video. In March, Linda posted a tearful video on her social media, where she spoke about the ongoing family rift. She said: "I'm okay with most things, but today, something hit. It's been 15 - or longer - years since I left Hulk Hogan and my family is in the worst mess. "Brooke doesn't talk to us. She's had twins. She got married, she didn't tell us... She had a huge fight with Terry. I don't know how that reflected onto me, but she cut me out too." Despite the tension, Linda claimed that Hulk remained unfazed, stating: "I have to be honest about what I went through in my marriage with Terry as Hulk Hogan and what it entailed, and what it has caused over the years.." "He marches on, like, 'Oh, I'm promoting my own beer, real American beer. Yeah, look at me.' He's such a hero, right? Not. I've given him more opportunities to come back and makeup the family. It's been 20 years and I'm still this sad. Somebody please explain that." Responding to her mother's emotional video, Brooke released a sharp statement, asserting that she has "completely separate reasons" for cutting off contact with both of her parents, the Mirror reports. "There was a recent video posted by my Mother that was concerning enough for people to send to me, that has made me feel the need to address the tip of a very large iceberg that is my immediate family," Brooke said at the time. "What little I am addressing does not even scratch the surface of what l've dealt with my entire life. I will start by saying this video is mild compared to behaviour I have witnessed for the greater portion of my life. This also comes in addition to false claims that she's previously posted, then deleted," she continued. "That being said, she has been through A LOT of trauma and pain, my heart breaks for her. You can't control how others treat you, but you can control how you treat others and cope with things." She continued: "I have completely separate reasons for going no contact with each of my parents. This decision was made based purely on how they have each dealt with me directly my entire life." Although Hulk did not directly address the statements from Linda or Brooke, he posted a video of himself and his new wife, Sky, eating popcorn and staring wide-eyed at the camera. Along with the caption: "Getting ready for the new HH TV show coming soon!" However, some followers criticised the post amid the ongoing drama, calling it "poor taste," while another commented: "This is why no one likes Hogan. A real man would try and heal, not mock his family."
