Chinese military chiefs develop killer bird-drone powered by flapping wings
CHINESE military chiefs have developed a killer bird drone powered by flapping wings, The Sun on Sunday can reveal. The new weapon - known as an 'ornithopter' - has been built to resemble Eurasian tree sparrow and was revealed during a recent demonstration by Chinese special forces. The drone replicates the wing-flapping motion of a sparrow in flight, making it virtually indistinguishable from real birds at a distance, according to the latest edition of Soldier Magazine. A video of the occasion shows an officer with the Peoples' Liberation Army Sea Commandos releasing the sparrow-like drone as he resurfaced from the water. The drone then circled in the sky for a few minutes while flapping its wings like a real bird. Another clip shows a commando operating a larger drone, which is similar in size to a raven or hawk. Details of how the bird-drone is powered and flies remain secret but defence sources believe drones of this size would normally use small advanced sensors allowing the operator to spy on enemy troops. Defence sources have also claimed that this new generation of drones can also be armed with micro-warheads to strike enemy assets, especially those in cover. The drones could also be used to assassinate enemy VIPs such as senior military commanders. But small drones often have a limited range and endurance, making them suitable only for short-range reconnaissance. Colonel Phil Ingram, a former Army intelligence officer told The Sun on Sunday: 'These drones could revolutionise reconnaissance operations on the battlefield. 'It's just a matter of time before we see these being used in war zones such as Ukraine and there is quite a strong likelihood that they could already be part of Russia's drone armoury. Incredible moment wounded Ukrainian soldier is delivered e-bike by drone so he can escape while surrounded by Russians 'They will be used to conduct short term spying missions and if they can be fitted with a small warhead or weapon they could be used to take out individual battlefield commanders.' In 2021, the South China Morning Post uploaded a video of what it called a 'robo-fish' wagging its tail underwater. The device was not a real fish, but a drone with the potential for underwater surveillance. 1

Hulk Hogan's divided family reveal how they plan to heal from estranged WWE icon's death at 71
The estranged family of WWE icon Hulk Hogan have revealed how they plan to heal after his tragic death. The wrestling legend died at the age of 71 last month after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida - with tributes quickly pouring in for the WWE icon. One of those tributes included a candid statement from his daughter Brooke, who opened up on her troubled relationship with the WWE icon in the wake of his death. By the time Hogan died, he had gone years without speaking to Brooke, 37, and, according to her partner, had 'no interest' in meeting his daughter's twins. Despite the fractured relationship, the passing of the WWE icon hit hard for Hogan's estranged family and now they have revealed how they plan to deal with his death. Brooke's husband, Steven Oleksy, told People: 'We believe family is created, and through these trying times, great people have come into our life or come back into our life, and it's brought us some great relationships and a great support system that we look at as family'. In January, the couple welcomed their twins, Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene, whom Oleksy has called 'absolute bundles of joy.' He continued: 'I'm looking forward to getting back and shifting our focus on our own family, and just taking the lessons that we've learned through these situations and just incorporating them into our own family and making sure that our son and daughter feel the love that we have for them each and every day'. In the days that followed Hogan's death, Oleksy revealed that he did in fact try to resolve their feud but that attempt was rebuffed by the WWE icon. According to People, Oleksy said: 'I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest.' 'She [Brooke] was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. 'No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife,' he said. Meanwhile, according to Us Weekly back in April, Oleksy had been 'proactively trying to foster peace for years'. The outlet claims that he had requested a 'man-to-man conversation' with Hogan but his efforts were rebuffed by the wrestling icon. The report quotes a source close to Oleksy and Brooke who claimed that the couple's 'hurt is very, very heavy'. Oleksy offered a public defense of his wife at the time, saying he wouldn't 'stand by and allow anyone to continue to hurt' Brooke. Hulk welcomed Brooke as well as son Nick, 35, with ex-wife Linda - whom he was married to from 1983 to 2009. He later tied the knot with Jennifer McDaniel in 2010 until their divorce in 2021. Two years later, the WWE legend said 'I do' to Sky Daily and the pair were married up until his death on Thursday. Brooke and her father last spoke nearly two years ago in September 2023 only weeks before he married his third wife Sky. On that call, Brooke expressed love and concern for her father - telling him that he shouldn't be working so hard due to his declining health. Despite her pleas for him to enjoy more of his life, those requests fell on deaf ears. The pair didn't speak again. Despite their fractured relationship, Brooke was recently left frustrated after being snubbed of an invite from the WWE as they paid tribute to her late father. 'For those of you giving me c*** for not attending my Dad's tributes, @WWE did not extend an invite,' she wrote on her Instagram story Wednesday. Daily Mail has contacted WWE for comment. Meanwhile, her brother Nick honored his 'best friend' and father in a heartbreaking statement as he joined the WWE's poignant tribute ahead of Monday Night Raw. He looked visibly emotional as he stood alongside WWE stars past and present for a 10-bell salute to his father. His wife Tana Lea was also seen wiping away tears after joining her husband on stage for the event in Detroit.

Four savvy summer mealtime tactics to stop your youngsters swerving vegetables
SCHOOL'S out and fussy kids are home. If you have youngsters who like to swerve vegetables, it is time to be more cunning. 7 Camouflage carrots and conceal courgettes with these stealth summer mealtime tactics. RETURN OF THE MAC: Mac and cheese is a family favourite, but usually lacks any vitamin-packed vegetables. Give it a goodness upgrade by stirring cooked, pureed cauliflower into the cheese sauce. Invisible and ingenious, it makes the sauce even creamier. If you really want to push your luck, you could mash some roasted, pureed butternut squash into the cheese sauce, with or without the cauliflower. SOUPER IDEA: A lovely soup with a sweet edge can swing even the strongest anti-veg eaters. It is also a great way to use up leftover bits in the fridge. Cook up chunks of almost any vegetable including carrots, cabbage, tomatoes and peppers and add them to a saucepan of vegetable stock with two chopped potatoes and a can of sweetcorn. Once the veg is soft, whizz it up in a food mixer until smooth. Sieve it if you need to eliminate any last lumps. Add it back to the pan with a spoonful of cream or cream cheese. PASS THE PASTA: It is easy to hide a whole pile of vegetables in a pasta sauce. But greens, such as broccoli and spinach, will turn a tomato sauce brown so stick to red peppers, carrots and celery for stealth goodness. Add them when cooking the sauce, then puree at the end to make a delicious smooth topping. Make double to also use on sliced muffins topped with cheese as mini pizzas. MEAT AND FOUR VEG: Meaty sauces make it even easier for veggies to appear incognito. Whizz up carrot, pepper, celery, onion and garlic in a food mixer to make tiny pieces. Add them to a meaty bolognese sauce, made with mince and chopped tomatoes. Then add a tin of green lentils to the mixture. Everyone will gobble it up.
