Report: Goalkeeper on United radar as Newcastle make strategic approach

Nick Pope on Man United's Radar as Ramsdale Eyes Newcastle Move Ramsdale's Rebuild Under Howe According to talkSPORT, Newcastle United are actively pursuing goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in a bid to reunite him with Eddie Howe, who managed the shot-stopper at Bournemouth. Ramsdale is believed to be keen on a Premier League No.1 role to strengthen his claim for a spot in England's squad for the 2026 World Cup. This prospective move could have significant consequences at St James' Park. Should Ramsdale arrive, it would cast serious doubt over Nick Pope's future as Newcastle's first-choice goalkeeper. Man United's Goalkeeping Dilemma The uncertainty surrounding Pope has reportedly caught the attention of Manchester United. With Ruben Amorim still seeking a reliable alternative or challenger to Andre Onana, Pope's experience and profile are seen as an ideal fit. The 33-year-old, whose contract is set to expire next summer, could become a smart and cost-effective option. Photo IMAGO talkSPORT state: 'Nick Pope could emerge as a target for Manchester United if Newcastle sign Aaron Ramsdale.' This domino effect could see one England international replace another at two of the Premier League's top clubs. Leeds Interest Fades as Perri Signs Earlier this summer, Leeds United were also credited with an interest in Pope, though they have since turned to Lucas Perri from Lyon to fill their goalkeeping vacancy. This likely leaves Manchester United and possibly other top-flight sides as potential destinations should Pope seek pastures new. Goalkeeper Carousel Could Define Season Ahead This transfer chain could see Ramsdale move for more minutes, Pope seek redemption at another top club, and United recalibrate their options after another Onana rocky campaign. It's a rare moment where multiple Premier League clubs could benefit from one bold move — if each piece of the puzzle falls into place. Our View – EPL Index Analysis From a Manchester United supporter's perspective, this report presents both opportunity and intrigue. Nick Pope might not be the most glamorous name linked with Old Trafford, but he represents consistency, maturity and Premier League experience — qualities sorely missed during Andre Onana's erratic time England. While Onana did improve after his disastrous start, there's still a lingering sense among fans that he lacks the authoritative presence that United keepers like van der Sar or De Gea once brought. Pope's possible arrival would not necessarily spell the end for Onana but would provide genuine competition — something many believe is crucial in elite squads. Also, from a fan's standpoint, the idea of acquiring a current or former England international — especially one with something to prove — aligns with the mentality Ruben Amorim is trying to instil. Pope's professionalism and quiet leadership might be just what the dressing room needs.

How to watch Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur live: Stream link, TV channel, team news, prediction

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are set to continue preseason preparations on Thursday (7:30 am ET), when the north London rivals meet outside the UK for the first time in derby history — in a so-called friendly — in Hong Kong. MORE — Premier League preseason schedules for all 20 teams The newly-minted Kai Tak Sports Park may have evaded the hurricanes and thunderstorms that were previously forecast for this week, heavy rain and wind are still expected. For live updates and highlights throughout Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur, check out PST's live blog coverage below. How to watch Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur live, stream link and start time Kick off time: 7:30am ET Thursday (July 31)Venue: Kai Tak Sports Park — Hong KongStreaming: Paramount+ Arsenal team news, focus The Gunners started their preseason tour with a pair of wins, over AC Milan and Newcastle, last week — at the same that brand new summer signing, striker Viktor Gyokeres, was unveiled in front of the fans in Singapore. Gyokeres is the $74-million solution to Arsenal's biggest problem last season: They didn't score enough goals (69) to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title, even with having the league's best defensive record (34 conceded) by seven goals. Noni Madueke, who won't join the squad until after they return from Asia, should also go some way toward helping that cause, after joining from Chelsea for $55 million this summer. Tottenham Hotspur team news, focus Spurs are only on game 1 of their Asian tour after drawing League One sides Wycombe Wanderers (2-2) and Luton Town (0-0) on the same day, as new head coach Thomas Frank wanted 22 players with playing time before leaving London. As seemingly easy as Arsenal have made their transfer business look, dealings have proved rather difficult for Spurs (again). Mohammed Kudus has come in for $75 million, but Spurs' $80-million move for Morgan Gibbs-White was scuppered when Nottingham Forest threatened legal action for breach of confidentiality relating to the release clause in his contract and signed Gibbs-White to a new contract instead. Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction The Gunners are simply much further along in their progression this preseason. The squad is settled, the system is familiar as can be, and they need a fast start to the season. Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur.
