Hollyoaks anniversary scripts rewritten as ideas scrapped and 'surprises' ahead
More than one Hollyoaks star told us bosses had made a number of changes to plans for the Channel 4 soap's 30th anniversary episodes, with scripts redone and storylines altered
Cast of Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks have been kept in the dark about most of the soap's 30th anniversary plans, with many of the ideas apparently "rewritten" as the show goes all out for the big event.
According to more than one star of the soap, bosses have "gone back to the drawing board" and made a few changes to original plans. The show celebrates 30 years on air in October, with planning underway for an unmissable set of episodes.
While one star of the show promised "shocking twists" and "big" scenes ahead, another cast member spilled that plans had been changed a couple of times, with bosses wanting to go all out to make the 30th a huge one for fans. According to the star, scripts have been edited, with the suggestion that ideas had been scrapped to make way for bigger and better twists and turns ahead.
Another cast member backed the changes to the plans originally laid out, claiming she'd been told that the plans for the anniversary had "changed a few times". But it seems the plans are now all, if not mostly, set in stone with cast soon to find out exactly what is in store for them in the coming months.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Mercedes McQueen actress Jennifer Metcalfe was the first star to admit there'd been some changes where the 30th plans were concerned. She told us that she'd heard behind the scenes how plans had been changed more than once.
She teased: "I say don't tell me cos I am a blabbermouth so I say don't tell me the storylines. But I don't know yet what's happening with it, I've heard they've changed their minds a few times but that's all they are telling us."
Rex Gallagher actor Jonny Labey also said about the script and plan changes, telling us: "For the 30th it was announced there would be some fan involvement! To be honest we have had a lot of script editing and it's been back to the drawing board with some of the ideas.
"But it's all solidified now, the ideas are in place. We have got some time until October. The next couple of months we will start knowing a bit more and preparing for the 30th.
"They are always gonna go big and the way the storylines are going at the moment, they are really powerful stuff, beautiful stuff, and amazing work from everyone, so it's on good trajectory. The 30th is a big year!"
Myra McQueen actress Nicole Barber-Lane didn't know too much, but she's thrilled to be back with the show and for the soap to still be on air 30 years on from the launch. She said: "I don't know what is gonna be happening, but it is important to celebrate how long we have been here.
"Sometimes we put so much pressure on stuff but it doesn't need it. I don't know details but I know Hannah [Cheers, Hollyoaks' Executive Producer] has some big stuff lined up." We also got some big spoilers from Lucas Hay actor Oscar Curtis and Dillon Ray actor Nathaniel Dass about what fans can expect.
Oscar spilled: "We can't say what happens but we can say it's gonna be exciting." Nate then told us: "Listen, we hear things in and around the building. We hear some amazing stuff, and there is some really amazing stuff in store for Hollyoaks fans.
"I think something that happens is gonna actually be quite shocking. It is something to do with the show itself and to do with the characters. There is some really exciting stuff coming up, but we can't say what.
"I can promise you there's gonna be some big surprises." Oscar added: "It's the 30th... you know what I mean?" Nate then teased: "I know for a fact the top dogs have some amazing stuff planned."
Tom Cunningham actor Ellis Hollins shared his surprise with us that his return storyline is linked to an upcoming storyline before the 30th, and not the big event itself like he thought. He explained: "When I got the call I was assuming it was something to do with the 30th, but it's still quite premature.
"So I'm hoping there's gonna be something related to it but maybe on the sidelines, like reacting to certain people and not being in a crash!"

Shy of just one year since he left the village, Hollyoaks legend Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins) is back – and let's just say that his return story might take you by surprise. Last August, Tom – with half-sister Cindy (Stephanie Waring) in tow – made a swift escape after learning that Dave Williams (Dominic Power) was none other fearsome gangster Blue. With a one-year time jump employed afterwards, it's been two years since he last set foot in the eponymous village but, with the Channel 4 soap's 30th anniversary rapidly approaching, it's safe to say that bringing him back for the occasion was a must . What's more, with his sworn nemesis Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) back from the dead after 12 years, having Tom miss out on a reunion with the scheme queen would have been a missed opportunity to say the least. But just what has Tom been up to and what brings him back? Well, this is where things get interesting because the former market owner, who is known for his insistence on doing everything by the book and following instructions down to a T, is in prison. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Upcoming scenes will see Tom get in touch with Donny Clark (Louis Emerick) – who is investigating the death of DI Banks (Drew Cain) – to offer him some information on Clare. Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey), meanwhile, is pressured by Clare to murder Tom! More Trending It seems we're in for yet another chapter of this thrilling Tom and Clare rivalry. The question is: just who will come out victorious? That remains to be seen but it seems that Clare – or should I say Rex – is the one with the upper hand as, towards the end of next week, the gangster spots Tom alone and friendless in the prison yard and decides to make his move. Coronation Street's Todd and James' sinister fate 'unveiled' in dark Theo scene
Coronation Street fans have been left fearing for Todd Grimshaw as they fear his relationship with Theo may take a sinister turn after he was seen getting close to James Coronation Street fans fear Todd Grimshaw and James Bailey could be in danger. Todd's partner, Theo Silverton, showed some concerning behaviours in tonight's episode, after James made a pass at Todd. It's been a tough time for the pair, with arguments left, right and centre. Theo's daughter Millie is currently staying with the duo, and is secretly plotting to get her father Theo back with her mum Danielle back together. She's even gone as far as faking a pregnancy. However, things got messy in tonight's Coronation Street when she lied and told her dad, Theo, that Todd had taken her to go and get an abortion, although it became clear she was lying. Following the drama, Todd caught up with James in the pub and they later carried on the drinking back at home. The two then got closer as James gave him a free PT session, but things took a turn when he tried to kiss Todd, who quickly backed away. "I'm sorry, I can't. I love Theo," he said, as James profusely apologised. He then comforted James with a hug when he told him he'd find someone "a million times better than Danny," but it was in that moment that Theo walked in. James quickly scarpered as Theo later apologised to Todd for earlier, before asking him what James was doing at the house. He then admitted James had made a pass at him, which didn't go down too well with Theo. "How about we make a deal, I'll keep Millie away from you and you keep your distance from James," he said, as Todd agreed. However, Theo wasn't keeping his distance from James at all as he warned him to stay away. "If I ever catch you sniffing round him again, we'll be exchanging more than just words," he said. After watching the scenes, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter to predict things taking a darker turn in Todd and Theo's relationship, as one wrote: "Yeahhhh they're totally going down the controlling route with Theo and Todd!" A second agreed: "This Theo storyline is driving me mad. The way he treats Todd is awful. I'm sensing the insecure, controlling behaviour coming to play. He'll be seen talking to James again and go all 'masculinity' and beat him up." "Haven't watched #Corrie today, but I've said all along that the Todd and Theo storyline is heading the same way as Brendan and Ste in Hollyoaks. Because if it was just about giving Todd a boyfriend they could have just got him with James this feels a lot more than that!" said a third, while another agreed: "Todd & James so good. Very nearly happened. Sensing weird How will things play out for Todd and James?

Liam Gallagher issues update on soundcheck singing at Cardiff's Principality Stadium
Liam Gallagher issues update on soundcheck singing at Cardiff's Principality Stadium Some fans and locals believed they heard Liam Gallagher rehearsing at the Principality Stadium As Cardiff gears up to host the first Oasis reunion concerts many have heard soundchecks coming from the Principality Stadium. Now Liam appears to have jokingly confirmed the soundchecks are not actually the famous brothers – but then with Liam you never do know. Soundchecks could be heard, with the song Cigarettes and Alcohol playing, on Monday, June 30. Many believed this was Liam and Noel back together in the stadium for the first time in over 10 years. Now, replying to a video of the soundchecks, Liam said on X: "Mmm I'm not sure about the vocals there too aggressive he really needs to take a chill pill man he's just so angry all the time I don't know who he thinks he is as far as I'm concerned he's just a bigmouth from up north". A fan then asked Liam to "confirm or deny" if it was him rehearsing. Liam replied: "I've been in my pool all day doing under water farts so it's defo a recording from rehearsals unless there's 2 of me which I'm absolutely 1 million per cent here for well there for as well". Content cannot be displayed without consent As always with Liam he could be joking with fans, so maybe the brothers are in Cardiff after all, but this points to the duo not yet being in the Welsh capital. Follow live updates as Cardiff gets ready for the reunion here. Set-up at the Principality is already well under way, as seen in a seven-days-to-go video released last week, and a full soundcheck will be held later in the week. The Mirror has reported that Liam and Noel, plus new drummer Joey Waronker and guitarists Andy Bell, Gem Archer, and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, will take the opportunity to make sure their performance is tip-top ahead of Friday and Saturday. A source close to the band told the Mirror: "With a new line-up and it being such a huge first show the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. "Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again but there is no time for that and also Liam and Noel want every night to be massive. "This is such a huge comeback show and they are taking it very seriously. It all points to it being an incredible comeback tour."
