The comprehensive plan, backed by a budget of Rs 9,000 crore, is targeted for completion by next year, a senior official confirmed.
The campaign aims to provide the capital with clean water and a pollution-free Yamuna. Chief Minister Gupta is personally leading the efforts to rejuvenate the river, with close monitoring also being conducted by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma.
The budget for the mission is worth Rs 9,000 crore and is targeted for completion by next year, a senior official said.

A total of 67 locations have been identified for pollution monitoring in the Yamuna River. A survey will be conducted by July and the report will be submitted to the Delhi Jal Board.
The Delhi government is also installing 32 real-time water Monitoring Stations to clean the river Yamuna. Out of these 32, 10 will be set up on the Yamuna river and 22 on major drains, said a senior official.
The Delhi government plans to clean the Yamuna River within its first tenure.

DMK govt ‘running on commission, collection and corruption', says EPS

KALLAKURICHI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday alleged that the DMK government is 'running on commission, collection, and corruption'. Speaking at a welfare assistance distribution event in Ulundurpet, Palaniswami said, 'Corruption has worsened under the DMK regime. Every department is affected. No land registration happens without bribes. Even at Tasmac, a bribe of Rs 10 is collected per bottle. Law and order has also deteriorated. Movement of banned substances has increased.' Palaniswami said no one can take over the AIADMK. 'MK Stalin is unable to tolerate our alliance with the BJP. He says the AIADMK is finished, but he is daydreaming. Look at the gathering here, everyone should work for the victory of AIADMK and alliance candidates. Youth and women should work to ensure our victory in all five Assembly constituencies of Kallakurichi district.' Palaniswami said even after MGR's death, DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi could not destroy the AIADMK. After Jayalalithaa's demise, Stalin tried to topple the AIADMK but failed. 'In 2026 election, the AIADMK will win and form the government with a clear majority,' Palaniswami asserted. Responding to Stalin's repeated remarks that AIADMK lost 10 elections under his leadership, Palaniswami said, 'How many times did the DMK lose from 2011 to 2021? In 2011, the DMK couldn't even sit in the opposition benches. The DMK came to power with false promises. The DMK has failed to fulfil its poll promises of getting NEET exemption, increasing working days under 100-day job scheme, education loan waiver and restoration of old pension scheme.'

Tamil Nadu approves rates for land acquisition in Parandur

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has approved land acquisition rates for the second Chennai airport proposed at Parandur in Kancheepuram district. The rates have been fixed from Rs 35 lakh to Rs 2.57 crore per acre based on the Guideline Value (GLV), sale value and private negotiations held at the district- and state-levels to arrive at a 'fair' price. A Government Order was issued by V Arun Roy, secretary of the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, on June 25. However, residents protesting against the project — since July 2022 — alleged that the state government, in its G.O., has 'misleadingly' shown the GLV and sale value to be the same in a majority of cases in order to 'deceive people'. Women getting pensions under four schemes can avail KMUT The G.O. stated that eligible female family members of women receiving monthly pensions under four other schemes — the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, Destitute Widow Pension Scheme, Destitute/Deserted Wives Pension Scheme and the Pension Scheme for Unmarried Poor Incapacitated Women Aged 50 and Above — will also be allowed to apply for the KMUT scheme. 'Only after receiving the applications will we know how many female family members of beneficiaries under the four social security schemes will benefit from these relaxations. The beneficiaries themselves are not eligible to apply for KMUT,' said an official from the revenue department.

Tamil Nadu relaxes norms for Rs 1K women honorarium scheme

CHENNAI: In a major policy move aimed at supporting thousands of women from economically weaker sections, the Tamil Nadu government has relaxed the eligibility criteria for receiving the Rs 1,000 monthly honorarium under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (KMUT) scheme. This decision will enable hundreds of eligible woman family members of the 13.23 lakh beneficiaries receiving pensions under four other social security schemes to qualify for the monthly honorarium. Currently, 1.14 crore woman family heads benefit from the KMUT scheme. Applications for new enrolment open on July 15. The Government Order to this effect was issued on Friday. Disparity in relief packages an attempt to divide Ekanapuram residents: Protester The government had issued administrative sanction for acquisition of 3,774.1 acres of patta land under the provisions of the TN Acquisition of Lands for Industries Purposes Act of 1997, and alienation of 1,972.17 acres of government land to develop a greenfield airport at Parandur. The project has been facing severe opposition from the residents of 13 surrounding villages as well as from environmentalists. The government's compensation package, according to the G.O, is well above the GLV/market price. While the G.O. doesn't specify the total burden on the state's exchequer, rough estimates peg the cost at Rs 1,591 crore.
