Marlins top Giants 12-5 to complete series sweep
Kyle Stowers and Agustín Ramírez each homered and the Miami Marlins beat the San Francisco Giants 12-5 on Thursday to complete a three-game series sweep.
Xavier Edwards had a two-run double for Miami, which has won four straight overall, five of six, and six straight on the road.
Rafael Devers had three hits including a homer and a double for San Francisco, which has lost eight of its last 11.
Devers' homer was his 17th and his second in nine games since being acquired by San Francisco last week.
The Marlins broke a 5-5 tie in the fifth on Eric Wagaman's two-run double in a three-run inning.
Stowers hit a three-run homer in the first and Ramírez hit a two-run shot in the third — both off Giants starter Hayden Birdsong — to give Miami a 5-0 lead.
Devers hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third, and the Giants tied it in the fourth when June Hoo Lee's leadoff triple keyed a three-run inning.
Birdsong (3-2) allowed seven runs and four hits with four walks in four-plus innings.
Josh Simpson (1-0) got the last out of the fourth after Janson Junk allowed five runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Davion Mitchell staying in Miami on 2-year, $24 million deal, AP source says
MIAMI (AP) — Davion Mitchell is coming back to the Miami Heat on a two-year contract worth $24 million, a person familiar with the negotiations said Saturday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Saturday because the deal has not yet been signed and announced. Mitchell — who the Heat consider to be one of the best on-ball defenders in the league — was traded to Miami in February as part of the deal that sent Jimmy Butler to Golden State. Mitchell appeared in 30 regular-season games with the Heat, started 15 of them and averaged 10.7 points in those contests. He averaged 15 points in Miami's four playoff games this past season and indicated to the team that he was willing to return. He could have been a restricted free agent this summer. 'Being here, I kind of just fit right in,' Mitchell said when the Heat season ended. 'They needed someone who can be a defensive presence, who can get their teammates open, make my teammates lives a lot easier, and I think that's what I did.' The Heat are his third team, after stints in Sacramento and Toronto. On Saturday, Yoshida was shagging fly balls during batting practice in right field, ran the bases while others were hitting and took BP. Also, third baseman Alex Bregman, who has been sidelined since late May with a strained right quad, ran lightly in the infield, and took grounders at third, throwing across the diamond before the Red Sox took BP. 'He's just finishing taking ground balls,' Cora said. 'It was a good day for him and Masa.' When he was injured, Bregman was one of the club's most productive hitters, batting .299 with 11 homers and 35 RBIs in 51 games. Cora recently said the 31-year-old Bregman isn't expected to return until after the All-Star break. Boston entered Saturday on a season-high six game losing streak, its longest since September 2022. The Red Sox dropped the opener of a three-game series against Toronto, 9-0, on Friday night.
