Ruru Madrid grateful for winning Best Supporting Actor for ‘Green Bones' at EDDYs 2025

Ruru Madrid is nothing short of grateful as he won another acting award for 'Green Bones.' The Kapuso actor won his third acting award for the film, this time from the Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards or the EDDYs. Ruru shared a message of gratitude on Instagram, saying, 'Pangatlong biyaya, pero sa bawat pagkilala, laging bago ang pasasalamat.' 'Hindi madaling pagsabayin ang pagiging critically acclaimed at tinangkilik ng masa. Pero ang pelikulang ito ay patunay na kapag totoo ang puso mo sa sining, mararamdaman ito ng bawat manonood.' Ruru also reflected on how nothing is impossible as long as one has perseverance, love for the craft, and chooses to be a good person in their career and life. Ruru thanked the EDDYs for the award, and said it was an honor to stand alongside influential artists. 'Mas lalo nitong pinatibay ang panata ko: Ako'y alagad ng sining—at habang naririto ako, patuloy kong ihahayag sa mundo ang galing, kwento, at talento ng Pilipino,' he said. 'Para sa lahat ng naniwala. Para sa lahat ng nagmahal sa pelikula. Para sa bayan,' Ruru added. 'Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino. Tuloy ang kwento.' 'Green Bones' won several at the EDDYs 2025, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Dennis Trillo, Best Director for Zig Dulay, and Best Cinematography for Neil Daza. Dennis and Ruru accepted the Box Office Hero award. It also bagged several awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024, such as Best Picture, Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Angeli Atienza), Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), Best Cinematography (Neil), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens). Moreover, it won First Best Picture, Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), and Best Director (Direk Zig) at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards. 'Green Bones' follows Domingo Zamora (Dennis), who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, the newly assigned prison guard (Ruru) takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what. The GMA Pictures film debuted on Netflix in June and immediately climbed to the top spot on the list of Top Movies in the Philippines on its debut week. —Nika Roque/CDC, GMA Integrated News

‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre': Adamus recovers his memories after demanding truth from Imaw

Adamus (Kelvin Miranda) has finally regained his lost memories. Friday's episode of 'Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre' showed Imaw confessing to Flamarra (Faith Da Silva) that Adamus was indeed alive and had been hidden away, his memories erased. He explained that he only did this to keep Adamus from acting on his growing desire to fight and ultimately to protect him from the clutches of Mitena (Rhian Ramos). The truth was also revealed to Adamus. Furious, he demanded that his memories be restored, and Imaw obliged. In the mortal world, Terra (Bianca Umali) continued to fend off her enemies, fighting strategically and using her ivictus (teleport) skill multiple times to outmaneuver her attackers. However, her battle turned personal when her beloved Lolo Javier (Boboy Garrovillo) was shot. In a gut-wrenching scene, she stayed by his side in the ambulance, urging him to fight for his life as he slipped in and out of consciousness. Later, as Lolo Javier was brought to the operating room, Terra promised to wait with her Nanay Mona (Manilyn Reynes), who had just regained consciousness. Terra, overwhelmed by the chaos around her, was visibly furious over what the bad guys had done to her family. "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre" airs weeknights on GMA Prime at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." You can also watch it on YouTube via the Kapuso Stream. —Carby Rose Basina/CDC, GMA Integrated News

Michelle Dee graces Autism Society Philippines' art exhibit opening as special guest

Michelle Dee graced the formal opening of Autism Society Philippines' (ASP) art exhibit as a special guest. According to Athena Imperial's report in "24 Oras" Friday, the Artismo art exhibit is ASP's cultural and arts platform that gives individuals on the autism spectrum the opportunity to showcase their artworks. "This is a lifelong mission for me. I'm truly inspired by every individual on the autism spectrum and I have two siblings of my own kaya napaka-importante po talaga na patuloy ko ipaglaban 'yung mga kinakailangan nila," the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and Sparkle star said. "Not just on the surface level, but really try to dial in on the solutions that we can offer them," she added. The opening of the art exhibit coincides with National Disability Rights Week, which is held annually from July 17 to 23. Through Artismo, individuals with autism are able to express themselves creatively. The ASP is also able to raise funds for its programs, while giving the artists the opportunity to earn money. Michelle has long been an advocate for autism awareness, even before she started her pageant journey. Back in 2019, prior to representing the Philippines at the Miss World pageant, she shared that her two siblings with autism were the ones who inspired her to pursue this advocacy. She also pushed for autism awareness, acceptance, and inclusivity when she vied for the Miss Universe crown in 2023. At the international pageant, she was among the contestants who won the Voice for Change award, which comes with a cash prize for their chosen charity. In 2024, she was honored with the Hans T. Sy Leadership Award by ASP for her advocacy in autism awareness. In the same year, she got to donate her Miss Universe Voice for Change award, worth P684,000, to ASP. Aside from her advocacy work, Michelle is also busy with her music and acting career. Per the "24 Oras" report, she is set to release a new single soon following the success of "Reyna." She will also grace the "Sang'gre Experience" fan event on Sunday, July 20, in Cubao, Quezon City, after starring in "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre" as Hara Cassandra. —CDC, GMA Integrated News
