Apple's foldable iPhone may already be taking shape inside Samsung's factory

Phone Arena2 days ago
Concept image of a foldable iPhone . | Image credit – Apple Insider The foldable iPhone rumors are heating up again and this time, it's looking a lot more real.
A new report (translated source) says Samsung Display is now gearing up to supply Apple with foldable OLED panels, which basically means: yeah, a foldable iPhone might actually be coming next year. According to industry sources, Samsung Display is building out a dedicated production line just for Apple at its A3 plant in Asan, South Korea. Work reportedly started in the second half of last year and is now close to wrapping up. Once everything's up and running, Samsung Display might be able to pump out around 15 million foldable panels a year – or about 1.25 million a month – based on 7-inch foldable OLEDs.That production figure is interesting because it lines up with earlier rumors that Apple wants to ship somewhere between 15 and 20 million foldables down the road. But here's the twist: the latest report claims Apple's 2026 target is actually much more modest – only 6 to 8 million foldable iPhones to start. So Samsung's building for the future here, getting ready for when (or if) Apple decides to go all in.
Although the exact design of a future foldable iPhone remains unknown, there are plenty of concepts available. | Image credit – Apple Insider And for now, Samsung is said to have secured an exclusive deal to supply Apple with these foldable OLEDs – at least for the next couple of years. While Apple usually prefers having multiple suppliers (just in case something goes wrong), Samsung's experience in foldables gives it a major edge. Let's not forget, Samsung's been in this game since 2019 and is already on its seventh generation of foldables.
Speaking of which, yep, Samsung just launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 – and yeah, they're thinner, lighter and more refined than ever. The Z Fold 7 , in particular, is Samsung's slimmest book-style foldable to date. Sure, it dropped S Pen support to get there, but still, it's a big leap forward from the previous model.
So yeah, it's pretty wild to think that Samsung will not only be making its own foldables but also be helping Apple finally enter the category – and then directly competing with it. That situation speaks volumes about how far Samsung's foldable tech has matured. Apple reportedly wants to launch something polished and reliable right out of the gate, and I think choosing Samsung as its display partner just proves how trusted that tech has become.
That said, I believe the arrival of a foldable iPhone won't necessarily hurt Samsung all that much – at least not in the short term. While Apple entering the foldable scene will challenge Samsung's lead in the market, Apple's foldable is probably going to be aimed at iOS fans who are already deep in the ecosystem. I mean, it's not likely to lure too many Android users away from Samsung or anyone else just yet.
Still, this is a major turning point. Apple's entry into the space could help grow the foldable market overall, which is still pretty niche right now. If the rumors are true, the foldable iPhone might drop alongside the iPhone 18 lineup in 2026 – but hey, with Apple, you never really know until the big reveal. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 in for review

Hey there, Galaxy Z Flip7! Samsung's latest flip-foldable may fly under the radar that is the Galaxy Z Fold7, but we're willing to bet that this one is going to be more popular. Nothing's changed with the retail package - you get the phone, a SIM tool, and a USB-C cable. The Flip7 comes in two versions - 12/256GB and 12/512GB. You get a choice of Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and the online exclusive Mint. The biggest upgrade with this generation of Galaxy Z Flip is the cover screen. It now stretches from end to end to reach 4.1 inches - a big jump from 3.4 inches. Samsung shrunk the bezels and made the phone ever-so-slightly wider and taller to accommodate the new screen. Still, the Galaxy Z Flip7 measures 13.7mm closed, and 6.5mm when opened, compared to 14.9mm/6.9mm on its predecessor. The inner display also got a notable jump in size - from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. It's noticeable. Back to the cover screen. It's smarter, too. By default, the Z Flip7's cover screen is like a big Galaxy Watch - you get widgets and not fully-featured apps. But you can force the phone to let you use all your apps on the screen - go to Samsung Labs, enable all apps on the cover screen, and then download a Galaxy Store app called MultiStar. Non-optimized apps don't use the entire cover screen, but it's worth it just to have them available! Still, Samsung lags behind Motorola in terms of cover screen functionality - The razr 60 Ultra can allow any app on its outer screen, no hacking needed! Anyway, we're trying our best to give you reviews of all the phones we have at the office but it will take some time! Kindly, be patient! Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7

iPhone 17 colorways leak too

Yesterday the upcoming iPhone 17 Air's colorways leaked, and today it's time for the 'vanilla' iPhone 17 to get the same treatment. And while it will be offered in more colors than its thinner cousin, unfortunately this leak doesn't come with full-on renders depicting each hue. We do however have what seem to be replacement camera rings for it, which showcase the five colors in which the iPhone 17 will allegedly arrive: blue, silver, black, green, and purple. The transparent ring isn't meant for a transparent iPhone 17, that's not happening, it's just another option for those who'd like the transparent look on their device. While these are said to be the iPhone 17's launch colors, it's possible that Apple may release an additional one or two down the line. For comparison, note that the iPhone 16 comes in black, white, pink, teal, and "Ultramarine". So it's still five colorways, just different ones (aside from black). The iPhone 17 will be by far the lowest-end of the four models launching in September, with the A19 non-Pro chip, and possibly stuck at 8GB of RAM like its predecessor despite all three other models coming with the A19 Pro and 12GB of RAM. It will however have one more camera compared to the iPhone 17 Air, and a bigger battery. Apple iPhone 16 Source (in Korean)

Leak: Samsung Galaxy S25 FE to have an LTPO display and a bigger battery with 45W charging

There is still no word on when Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S25 FE, but leaks have painted a fairly complete picture – the new FE will be a mix of flagship and some not-so-high-end features. It will have largely the same design as last year, though a switch to Armor Aluminum will enable a slimmer and lighter design – 7.4mm thick and weighing 190g, compared to 8.0mm and 213g on last year's model. The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE will get some premium features like an LTPO panel for its 6.7' display with a variable refresh rate of 1Hz to 120Hz. It will still be a 1080p+ panel with Gorilla Glass Victus+, though, unlike the S25+, which has a 6.7' 1440p+ display with Victus 2. Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, photo by WPC The new FE will get a 200mAh bump in battery capacity for a total of 4,900mAh. More importantly, it will gain support for 45W charging, which is gradually spreading to new Galaxy models (though many are still on 25W). Wireless charging is not explicitly mentioned, so it should be the standard 15W that premium Samsungs usually get. Interestingly, Samsung will use the Exynos 2400 chipset for the S25 FE – not the 2400e that we saw on the S24 FE. It's basically the same silicon, though the non-e version runs at higher clock speeds, so we can expect a slight improvement in performance but no more. Benchmarks have shown 8GB of RAM, a 12GB option seems unlikely. Storage will come in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities. Like its predecessor, the S25 FE will have software support for 7 years after launch, matching the premium S-series models. Samsung Galaxy S25 FE speculative renders (image credit) The only camera to get an upgrade may be the selfie one, which is expected to have a 12MP sensor (up from 10MP last year). If this is the same hardware that is used in the S25, it would bring an autofocus lens. As for the rear cameras, they sound the same as last year: a 50MP main, 8MP 3x telephoto and 12MP ultra-wide cameras. The last two Galaxy S FE models launched in early October, so that's the most likely time frame for the Galaxy S25 FE. Source (in Greek)
