PSG are through to the semifinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after a dramatic win over Bayern Munich on Saturday in Atlanta. The first half was a cagey affair that ended without a goal, but things opened up late in the second.
Désiré Doué broke the deadlock in the 78th minute, giving PSG a crucial lead. Chaos soon followed, though, as the French side went down to nine men after receiving two red cards. Despite the setback, they held firm—and even managed to add a second goal to seal the result.

Ousmane Dembélé delivered that decisive strike with his very first touch, capping off a stunning run by Achraf Hakimi. The right-back weaved through Bayern's defense before setting up Dembélé with a pinpoint cutback.
Later in the day, Real Madrid edged Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in a hard-fought contest. The Spanish side ultimately got the job done, but not without a few nervy moments.
Xabi Alonso comments on PSG clashWith the two teams advancing to the semifinals, it sets up for a reunion between Kylian Mbappé and PSG. After Real Madrid's win, manager Xabi Alonso spoke about whether he intends to start the Frenchman against his former club on Wednesday.

'I don't know how I'm going to handle the situation,' Alonso said (h/t Mundo Deportivo). 'I have no idea. Starting this Sunday, I'll begin to think it all through… I've never faced PSG, but it's clear they're riding the momentum from how they finished the season. That's going to be the challenge. So far, we've done well, we've competed, and now we'll try to take the next step because we want to reach the final.'

Kyogo Furuhashi completes €9m switch to Birmingham City

Kyogo Furuhashi (30) has completed a permanent move to Birmingham City. He leaves Stade Rennais after just six months at the club. Furuhashi was a target for Jorge Sampaoli, but the Argentine head coach was eventually dismissed a couple of days after the centre-forward joined on a two-and-a-half-year contract. His successor in the Roazhon Park dugout, Habib Beye, barely fielded Furuhashi. The Japanese international never scored for Les Rouge et Noir, and just six months after making the move to the Breton club, he was one of several players that they were looking to offload during the current transfer window. Advertisement Whilst the fee has not been disclosed, L'Équipe understands that Rennes will earn a little over €9m for Furuhashi. There are also bonuses included in the deal worth a little under €1m. The Japanese international has signed a three-year deal with Birmingham City, who will play in the EFL Championship next season. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Robin Risser completes move from Strasbourg to Lens

Robin Risser (20) has completed a move from RC Strasbourg Alsace to RC Lens. The France youth international has signed a five-year deal with the side. Lens have already lost two goalkeepers this summer. Hervé Koffi has left to join SCO Angers on a loan deal, whilst Mathew Ryan departed following the expiry of his short-term deal with the club. He was brought in to compensate for the departure of Brice Samba, who left Les Sang et Or to join Stade Rennais in January. Advertisement There has now been further change between the sticks, although this arrival is one made with the long term in mind. Risser, a France U21 international, impressed while on loan with Red Star in Ligue 2 last season. He has now joined Lens. The deal is thought to be worth €3m, plus another €2m in bonuses. BlueCo-owned Strasbourg have retained a 25% sell-on percentage on the goalkeeper. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Auxerre open talks to sign Bologna's Oussama El Azzouzi

AJ Auxerre have opened talks to sign Bologna midfielder Oussama El Azzouzi (24), according to a report from Fabrizio Romano. El Azzouzi, who was born in the Netherlands but now represents the Morocco national team, joined Bologna for a fee of just over €2m back in 2023. In his first season, he made 20 appearances in all competitions, including 18 appearances in Serie A. In that time, he netted two goals and registered two assists. Advertisement However, El Azzouzi featured much less prominently last season, making just three appearances in all competitions, accumulating a mere 25 minutes of playing time. His absence was due to a knee injury suffered at the start of the campaign. Despite returning at the turn of the year, he could not force his way back into the Bologna side. Auxerre are now in talks to bring the defensive midfielder to Ligue 1 ahead of next season. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
