‘Soulmate's probably stuck in Marathahalli traffic': Bengaluru man's dating struggles go viral

Hindustan Times2 days ago
A Reddit post by a recent Bengaluru migrant is going viral for hilariously capturing the struggles of navigating the dating scene in India's tech hub. The user, who recently moved to Bengaluru after graduating, shared a long and candid rant titled 'Bangalore Dating Scene".
The user, who recently moved to Bengaluru after graduating, shared a long and candid rant titled 'Bangalore Dating Scene = Fully Dead' describing his failed attempts to find love using popular dating apps like Bumble and Happn.
'I moved to Bangalore full of hopes and dreams, thought I'd get a job, explore the city, maybe meet my LML (love of my life). I downloaded Bumble and Happn with main character energy. Big mistake,' he wrote.

Complaining of 'ZERO matches', the Redditor joked that not even accidental swipes came his way. He took aim at Happn, the app that shows users people they cross paths with, saying, 'I live in Hongasandra, I cross paths with 500 people a day just trying to get to Silk Board and survive. Yet the app says I crossed paths with Riya three days ago. Where, bro?? I only crossed paths with autos and existential dread.'
Dating apps didn't fare better in his post. Describing profile bios as overly generic and non-committal, 'Traveler | Foodie | Plant mom | Here for friends only', he quipped, 'Ma'am I'm not here to expand my LinkedIn network, I just want to fall in love and eat tacos in Indiranagar with someone.'
He described himself as an average, well-groomed guy with no 'shady bios' or 'weird flexes,' but added that dating apps were treating him like he was 'invisible in 4K.'
The punchline that sealed the post's virality? 'Honestly, at this point I think my soulmate is stuck in Marathahalli traffic, and that's why she hasn't reached me yet.' Reddit reacts
Responses to the post were mixed. Some users pushed back at the dramatic generalisation. 'Dude, those apps are not a representation of Bangalore's dating scene, that's a stupid extrapolation to make,' one commenter said bluntly.
Others offered genuine advice, urging the original poster to work on profile curation, 'Go to the gym, get sharp-looking pictures in formals, maybe one with animals, food, or from a scenic place.'
Despite the differing opinions, the post has opened up a broader conversation on Reddit about loneliness, dating fatigue, and the gap between expectations and reality in India's fast-paced urban hubs.

If you are one among them, then today's sporty illusion test is not to be missed. The not-so-simple but quick challenge for the day is surely going to keep your brain and eyes engaged. On Reddit, one page by the name r/FindTheSniper recently posted a photograph and asked others to "find the golf ball" among a sea of rocks and pebbles. These are in different shapes, sizes, and colours, such as grey, white, and beige. The only task here is to look for the golf ball among the pebbles. Look easy? The user has asked to do this in less than 10 seconds. This Reddit group is quite popular among the community, asking users to identify "well-camouflaged objects hiding in plain sight," with images featuring different things. A test like this is a brilliant way to check your IQ and peripheral awareness. Need help? Experts usually advise following a methodical approach, as this works best in finding the answers quickly. Also, such games tell a lot about your inner personality, with those who solve it fast having strong attention to detail. In the comments section, several Redditors found the challenge easy to crack, with one person stating that it took four seconds to do it. Another individual, who identified himself as a golfer, stated that he had a "keen eye to spot a ball." Those who were unable to find the golf ball within 10 seconds should not feel disappointed, as there are many others like you. It is cleverly located about halfway down the photograph on the left-hand side next to the green. Now, do consider sharing this with your family and friends to check whether they have strong eyesight or not. People need to find the golf ball in the sea of rocks and pebbles in under 10 seconds. It is placed halfway down the image on the left-hand side, next to the green. No. These help in training the brain and boosting concentration.

‘Porta-Potty' Parties: How Women Are Lured Into Degrading Sex Acts In Dubai's Elite Circles

Last Updated: "Porta-Potty" parties in Dubai: Colombian influencer Laura Sánchez warns young women on TikTok to beware of 'luxury offers' hiding abuse and exploitation in Dubai. Several influencers, models and women who frequent the same spaces of a certain section of Dubai's ultra-rich have come forward online to speak up about the abuse they faced in 'Porta-Potty' parties. These 'Porta-Potty' parties are parties where the city's ultra-rich lure in and bring models, female actors, fitness influencers and beautiful women and force them to perform degrading sex acts. The term 'porta-potty" originally refers to a portable toilet, the kind seen at construction sites, festivals or outdoor events. It's a self-contained, movable toilet unit that doesn't require plumbing. However, in the context of 'Porta-Potty parties", the term has taken on a dark, euphemistic meaning. It originates from online exposés about wealthy men, especially in places like Dubai, allegedly paying young models or influencers large sums of money to attend private parties where they are made to perform extreme acts involving bodily fluids, especially feces (hence the link to a 'portable toilet"). A blogpost by the organisation DetainedInDubai cited model Saint Mullan's video where she said she was approached by a man inviting her to a yacht party in Dubai. She further narrates in the video that she was offered £16,000 to fly to Dubai to allegedly fulfil a prince's bizarre fetishes, which included urinating on her. The content creator and fitness trainer told The Mirror that she never intended to travel to Dubai, but continued the conversation out of curiosity in a bid to see how far the man would go. In screenshots she shared, the unidentified individual claimed a 'prince" was hosting a private yacht party and had personally invited her, saying the prince 'loves beautiful women" and found her 'very attractive." The prince, reportedly worth £321 million, was allegedly willing to pay her £16,000 to join him and a friend, offering a sum that amounts to less than one percent of his net worth. The reports regarding these parties have been making rounds on social media since 2022. Ghanaian news aggregator @SIKAOFFICIAL1 in 2022 posted a viral thread which cited a Reddit post where an anonymous person said that she was raped, forced into degrading sex acts where she was forced to have sex with a dog, where older men rubbed her face on their feet, urinated and excreted on her. Women lured to these parties could end up facing criminal charges, even if they were brought in against their will. Radha Stirling, who heads Detained in Dubai, warned that the presence of married men could expose them to cases of adultery or indecency. 'Sex outside marriage may technically be legal now in Dubai," Stirling said, 'but organisers are twisting that reality. These women think they're going to a private party, instead, they're thrown into violent, humiliating situations with serious legal risk hanging over them". La modelo colombiana Laura Sánchez denunció en TikTok ofertas laborales engañosas en Dubái, advirtiendo sobre las llamadas 'Dubai Porta Potty Parties", que presentan lujos pero esconden abusos y situaciones degradantes. Alertó especialmente a modelos, influencers y jóvenes. — Bmor (@bmormedellin) May 19, 2025 Colombian model Laura Sánchez has warned young women to steer clear of shady job offers in Dubai, calling out the so-called 'Porta Potty Parties" in a viral TikTok. Behind promises of luxury, she said, lie abusive and degrading situations. Her message was aimed especially at models, influencers and young people chasing quick fame or money. Model Beaten Left For Dead Maria Kovalchuk, a 20-year-old Ukrainian adult model, was reportedly left for dead after attending one of Dubai's infamous 'Porta-Potty" parties. She disappeared after telling her mother she'd been invited to spend the night with two men posing as modelling agents. She never boarded her flight to Thailand. Ten days later, on March 19, Maria was found dumped on the side of a Dubai road with a shattered spine, broken limbs and internal injuries. She has since undergone multiple surgeries and remains in recovery, while her family stays by her side demanding answers. Dubai Police confirmed she is receiving medical care but claimed Maria had entered a restricted construction site and fallen from a height. It was a version that many find hard to believe, given the secrecy surrounding these elite parties. Russian lawyer Katya Gordon, who has tracked the case, alleged that Maria was left to die after being abused at one such party. She claimed Maria may have been forced into degrading sex acts involving human faeces, a theme allegedly central to these gatherings. Maria's mother told Ukrainian media that her daughter had no ID, phone or belongings when found. 'She's had three operations. She can't speak. We were told she went to a party, but the promoter says he never saw her. We're terrified of what really happened." Spider-Man director was forced to change Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's intros after reading a Reddit thread

Director Jon Watts, known for helming Spider-Man: No Way Home, recently reflected on one of the film's biggest creative pivots — the reveal of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as alternate Spider-Men. During a conversation at the Mediterrane Film Festival, Jon explained how early plans to introduce the iconic web-slingers during a tragic moment were completely reworked after he came across eerily accurate fan predictions online. Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire Speaking to Collider, Jon shared how the initial plan was to introduce the older Peter Parkers during a crucial emotional scene — right after Aunt May's death. The moment was imagined as a somber one, where 'Peter's going to be sad because Aunt May has just died, and that the portals are going to open, and the two Spider-Men are going to step out.' He noted that 'there had been rumors that Tobey and Andrew were going to be in the movie,' even while the team was still filming and finalizing the script. At the time, Jon had only a rough vision for the setting of this team-up. 'It's probably a rooftop somewhere. It's all sort of hazy. You're still trying to figure it out,' he said. But that vague vision quickly hit a roadblock when he stumbled upon fan theories and concept art online. 'Then I was on Reddit, and I was looking at people who had already made fan art of, 'This is probably what it's going to be like when the two Spider-Men get revealed,'' he said. 'It was on a rooftop. It was sad, two Doctor Strange portals were open and two Spider-Men are stepping out. I was like, 'Well, we can't do that. If that's exactly what everyone thinks we're going to do, we absolutely can't do that',' he added. That realisation led to a dramatic shift in how the reveal played out onscreen. Instead of emerging together on a rooftop, the alternate Spider-Men are brought into the story through Ned Leeds, who inadvertently summons them using Doctor Strange's sling ring — inside his family home. 'I was like, 'What does no one expect that we're going to do? What's something that no one's going to see coming?'' Jon recalled. 'I was like, 'Probably having the two Spider-Men appear at Ned's Filipino grandma's house in Queens. I don't think anyone was doing fan art of that on Reddit',' he added. Jon credited the inclusion of Ned's grandmother, played by Mary Rivera, as the unexpected twist that gave the scene its charm. 'It was the middle of the pandemic, so we had to find a lady and fly her from Hawaii to Atlanta to shoot all of this,' he said. Changing the setting, he added, allowed him to subvert fan expectations in the most satisfying way. 'So, as soon as you put her in that scene and change the location, now I feel like I've double-crossed the audience in the best way, where they're seeing everything that they were hoping that they would see in a way that they were never expecting they were going to,' he concluded.
