Kelly Clarkson cancels Vegas residency opener just before showtime. Why?

Yahooa day ago
Kelly Clarkson was "devastated" as she canceled her Las Vegas residency opening night just before showtime.
The "Kelly Clarkson Show" host, 43, took to social media on Friday, July 4 to give fans an update on her vocal health.
"We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans," Clarkson in the statement. "I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow's opening" at Caeser's Palace.
The "Voice" coach said that "the prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y'all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve."
USA TODAY reached out to reps for Clarkson for comment.

She concluded the statement by telling fans that "the show is truly incredible" and "the musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can't wait to be back next weekend and show y'all what we've been working on."
In February, Clarkson announced a return to the Las Vegas Strip this summer with a new 18-show residency. "Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas Residency" at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was set to begin Friday, July 4 and run through Nov. 15.
"I'm so excited to be back in Vegas!" Clarkson said in a statement. "We're bringing the studio to the stage this time with 'Studio Sessions!' See y'all there!"
Where is Kelly Clarkson on her talk show? Inside her absence
The "Since U Been Gone" singer has also been gone this year, at times, from her popular daytime talk show. Clarkson's unexplained absences on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" have been the source of tabloid fodder surrounding the show, now in its sixth season.
Earlier this spring, action star and actor Simu Liu helmed the show while the "Catch My Breath" hitmaker was out.
"Kelly isn't able to make it today. We're sending her our very best," he said to the studio audience of the March 3 show. "I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived to promote my new movie 'Last Breath,'" adding, "I'm here now, and look, I'm not one to back down from a challenge."

Lena Dunham strives to showcase 'different voices' in TV work after 'Girls' criticism

Lena Dunham is not the voice of her generation, and that's OK. The actress and writer, best known for the 2010s comedy "Girls," opened up about criticism of the HBO series in an interview with The Independent published on July 5. "One of the profound issues around 'Girls' was that there was so little real estate for women in television that if you had a show called 'Girls,' which is such a monolithic name, it sounds like it's describing all the girls in all the places," Dunham told the British outlet. "And so, if it's not reflecting a multitude of experiences, I understand how that would be really disappointing to people." Lena Dunham speaks out: Actress makes rare public speech in support of transgender rights The coming-of-age dramedy revolved around four twentysomething women in New York — Hannah (Dunham), Marnie (Allison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke), and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) — as they navigated work, dating, and the harsh realization that they maybe shouldn't be friends after all. The show, which drew controversy for its frank portrayal of womanhood and predominantly white cast, ran for six seasons and picked up a pair of Primetime Emmy Awards. While recent reappraisals of "Girls" have recognized the series as a satire of millennial narcissism, Dunham said she "liked the conversation around 'Girls,'" including criticism of its racial diversity. Dunham has applied the feedback to her current work. The television mogul serves as writer, director, and executive producer on the Netflix series "Too Much," a romantic comedy starring Will Sharpe, Megan Stalter, and Aylin Scott. "The thing I have really come to believe is that one of the most important things is not just diversity in front of the camera, but it's diversity behind the camera," Dunham said. "As a producer, one of my goals is to bring a lot of different voices into a position where they can tell their story." Lena Dunham interview: 'Girls' star looks back on show criticism In a June 2024 interview with USA TODAY, Dunham reflected on the often-toxic discourse surrounding "Girls" and what it taught her as a creative. "The biggest lesson that I learned is that once your work is in the world, people are going to have the conversation they're going to have," Dunham said. "I try to hear when people have something valid to say, but also to disconnect from it enough that I can continue to make my work." Contributing: Patrick Ryan, USA TODAY

Ahead of the British Grand Prix, Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle had a funny exchange with Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson. During Brundle's signature grid walk, when he interviews celebrities and drivers on the grid ahead of a race, the former Formula 1 driver caught up with the two stars. Brundle asked Clarkson who the Top Gear star wanted to win the race, to which Clarkson gave an interesting answer: "Honestly, I don't think anyone could predict today. It's a wet start, probably won't rain afterwards. I mean they're so close, aren't they..... there's 20 drivers on the grid and I like 17 of them, so I don't really mind who wins," Clarkson told Brundle. Photo byClarkson hinted at not liking three drivers on the grid, which left Brundle quite perplexed and didn't press the reality TV star on who those drivers were. "I'm not going to ask [who are] the three you don't like," he said while laughing. This isn't the first time that Clarkson and Brundle have interacted over the race weekend. During Saturday's qualifying broadcast, Clarkson texted Brundle about the weather conditions for the session. "A bloke called Jeremy from Oxford told me 'there will be no rain,'" Brundle said on the Sky Sports broadcast. During the grid walk interview, Brundle thanked Clarkson for the weather update: "Thanks for the weather forecast yesterday, you sent in by WhatsApp," he said. "That was the best comic timing in television history," Clarkson responded. The weather did factor into both qualifying and the race - creating windy and wet conditions out on track over the weekend. What time does 'The Gilded Age' come out? Release date, cast, where to watch

Season 3 of "The Gilded Age" has just begun, but tea and drama are already brewing hot between characters. HBO's lavish period drama, created by "Downton Abbey's" Julian Fellowes, returned for its third season on June 22 to record-high viewership. About 2.7 million U.S. viewers tuned in across platforms within the first three days of the season premiere, HBO said. "The Gilded Age" follows high society and the battle between "old money" and "new money" in 1800s New York. In the new season, the old guard is losing its powerful grip following the Opera War, while the Russells "stand poised to take their place at the head of society," according to the season synopsis. "Bertha sets her sights on a prize that would elevate the family to unimaginable heights while George risks everything on a gambit that could revolutionize the railroad industry — if it doesn't ruin him first," the synopsis says, adding, "across the street, the Brook household is thrown into chaos as Agnes refuses to accept Ada's new position as lady of the house." "As all of New York hastens toward the future, their ambition may come at the cost of what they truly hold dear," it concludes.
