Delhi man kills neighbour's Husky pup by flinging from staircase of apartment
According to the police, the incident took place on the night of April 19, when the pup's owner, Jitender Nagpal, was away at work in Loni. The golden and black Husky named Cherry ran out of the house when Nagpal's son opened the door for the laundry worker. Cherry ran upstairs while Nagpal's son collected the clothes and paid the man.
'The laundry man told my son that Cherry was on the third floor where my tenant Ravi Gupta lives with his family,' recalled Nagpal.
According to the First Information Report, Gupta violently flung the pup out of the building from the staircase landing's balcony when Nagpal's son ascended to the third floor to take Cherry back.
Cherry was unconscious when Nagpal's son reached her, the FIR stated.
The police booked Gupta under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 11 of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
'They took him in for questioning, and he told the police that Cherry had bitten his newborn son. How could she have done that? She didn't even have time to enter his house,' said Nagpal. Nagpal alleged that Gupta had taken Cherry to play with his daughter a few days back and had faced no issues then.
Nagpal, who adopted Cherry in early March from an acquaintance, said, his children have been unable to get over their grief and trauma. 'My children have been crying since the incident. Cherry was closest to them. They couldn't eat or sleep all night after she died,' said Nagpal.
Nagpal said not much action could be taken against Gupta as the laws he's been booked under are bailable offences. 'He (Gupta) was also let go by the police after a few hours. Cherry was like my daughter.'
'My children are my life. If they're happy, I'm happy. Hence, I agreed to their request to buy a pet dog,' Nagpal recalled.
Despite Gupta being his tenant, Nagpal said he was unable to evict Gupta from their house because Gupta's family has been living at their in-laws' house in Burari for quite some time.

Madras High Court orders CBI probe into former BJP Yuva Morcha functionary's murder in Puducherry
The Madras High Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of former Yuva Morcha (youth wing) leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Puducherry unit, K. Uma Shankar. He was brutally hacked to death near Paris Mahal in Lawspet, Puducherry, on April 26, 2025. Justice P. Velmurugan directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, Puducherry, to hand over the investigation to the Deputy Director of the CBI forthwith. The judge mandated that the CBI conduct a free and fair investigation into the murder and file a final report within six months. The orders were passed on a petition filed by Ezhumalai alias V.C. Kasilingam, the father of the deceased on whose complaint the local police had registered a First Information Report (FIR). The petitioner said he had lost faith in the police and alleged they were attempting to shield the real offenders. His counsel R. Sankarasubbu told the court the murder had taken place due to a land-grabbing dispute in Kuil Thoppu, involving two Members of the Legislative Assembly. Though the names of the suspects were well known, the police had filed the FIR without naming them in the report, he said. The counsel accused the local police of attempting to let the real suspects escape from prosecution due to political pressure. On the other hand, Puducherry Public Prosecutor K.S. Mohandass denied the allegations and said, the investigation was almost complete and a final report would be filed soon. After hearing both sides, the judge wrote: 'Considering the facts and circumstances and taking note of the submissions, this court is of view that since the prime accused, who are involved in the alleged crime, have not been named as accused in the FIR, if the second respondent police is allowed to continue the investigation, the real culprits will escape from the clutches of law.' Therefore, he directed the local police to hand over the investigaiton to the CBI forthwith.

The remarks in question were allegedly made in response to Dimple Yadav's recent visit to a mosque, where the cleric reportedly commented inappropriately on her attire. The complaint accused Rashidi of making statements that were not only derogatory and misogynistic, but also "highly provocative and aimed at inciting religious disharmony and communal tension," according to the FIR.
