Fancy a Michelin Meal Deal? Top chefs reinvent gourmet lunches for just £3
Two of London's top chefs have reinvented the traditional supermarket sandwich meal deal to make it fit for foodies.
Will Murray and Jack Croft, the duo behind Michelin Guide hotspots Fallow, FOWL and Roe, stepped up to the plate as new research revealed 65% of Brits eat lunch at their desks - and just 13% take a proper hour off.
The pair have teamed up with Uber Eats to produce a mouthwatering selection of midday treats including Coronation lobster roll, rotisserie chicken & ssamjang bun, cheese & honion focaccia plus a VLT sarnie.
Each sandwich is priced at £3 and comes with a complimentary serving of luxury crisps and a soft drink.

We wanted to honour it, put our own spin on it, and celebrate the art of lunch.
'We had a lot of fun creating these recipes, and we hope they bring a bit of joy to people who've powered through a long morning.'
Jack added: 'We've always believed that flavour shouldn't be confined to fine dining. Collaborating with Uber Eats to elevate the everyday lunch has been an exciting challenge and one that reflects how we like to eat, too.'
Uber Eats launches the new menu at an Uber Eats Sandwich Studio in Potters Field, London, on Tuesday, July 15. It will be open between 12.30 - 3pm, with Uber One customers benefitting from a further price drop at just £2.
The meal deals will also be available via the Uber Eats app in Manchester and Liverpool on Thursday, 17th July and Friday, 18th July, respectively.
Proceeds from every purchase will be donated to Uber Eats partner City Harvest, a food redistribution charity which rescues nutritious surplus food from farms, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, and delivers it for free to those facing food poverty.

In New York City's Times Square, tm:rw, a 20,000-square-foot tech retail space for 'founders, inventors, and visionaries who believe in shaping what's next,' is set to open in the historic Candler Building on Tuesday, July 29, with a futuristic take on the shopping experience. Designed in collaboration with Harry Nuriev, the space allows visitors to test out the most up-to-date tech through an ever-evolving lineup of activations and collaborations across several unique spaces. The shop, which features the world's largest 3D retail hologram by HYPERVSN, as well as one of only three Transparent 4K Smart TVs in the world, the LG OLED T, is divided into several sections. 'The Playhouse,' for instance, is a funhouse for e-sports, VR, and video game testing; 'The Studio' offers a living-room karaoke experience by Vizio MicMe; 'The Barber Shop' houses tech-forward mirrors and state-of-the-art grooming products, and 'The Sanctuary' features a best-in-class home audio experience with various speaker systems and music-related devices. The founders explained that the store is the culmination of almost ten years of reshaping retail stores worldwide, including those for Selfridges in London, KaDeWe in Berlin, and Rinascente in Rome. Their goal with the shop is to create a stage where 'concepts from emerging creators andiconic brands alike can be explored, shared, and brought to life.' 'We aim to inspire,' said Jordan Traxler, Global Head of Marketing. 'What sets tm:rw apart isn't just our carefully curated product offering, it's the elevated treatment of each customer and brand partner alike. tm:rw isn't about spectacle for its own sake; it's about making what's next feel personal, meaningful, and memorable. She made a promise to her dying husband. Now, Chizuko Kimura is the first female sushi chef to earn a Michelin star.
Before he died, sushi chef Shunei Kimura had one last wish for his wife. Sushi Shunei, his namesake Paris restaurant, had just earned a Michelin star three months prior. He wanted its legacy to live on. Chizuko Kimura had only begun cooking a year before, helping her husband in the kitchen as he underwent cancer treatment. But she honored his dying wish. Three years later, Kimura became the first woman to receive a Michelin star as a sushi chef. Kimura told Business Insider she "couldn't believe it" when she first heard the news. Now, she's sharing her story in the hopes it will show women that anything is possible. Love with a side of sushi Kimura grew up in Odawara, about an hour from Tokyo. The ocean was nearby, so fresh seafood was always on her family's dinner table. "I still remember the smell of soy sauce that always filled the kitchen, so familiar and comforting," Kimura said. "I wasn't cooking yet, but those memories stayed with me — in my nose and on my tongue." "I grew up in an environment where food had an important place," she added. "Even though I never imagined I would work in that field one day." Kimura moved to Paris to begin working as a travel agent. One fateful day in 2004, she went to a sushi restaurant and met her future husband, who was working at the counter. A year later, they were married. Shunei Kimura spent three decades working at sushi restaurants before he decided to open his own at the age of 63. "He ended up fulfilling his two dreams: to open an edomae sushi restaurant under his name in Paris, and to earn a Michelin star," Kimura said about her husband. A new career Sushi Shunei was scheduled to open in 2020, but was delayed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kimura had been a tour guide but lost her job when much of the world went into lockdown, so she helped her husband open the restaurant. "He never said to me, 'Learn how to make sushi,'" Kimura recalled. "But he showed me everything, and I observed everything. I learned to prepare the fish, to cook the rice, to follow every detail." It was a crash course for a craft that typically takes a decade or more to perfect. But Kimura's husband had been diagnosed with liver cancer in 2015 and was getting sicker. "Normally, it takes many years to become a sushi chef, but I had to do it because Shunei couldn't use his hands sometimes," Kimura said. "Every day by his side was a learning experience. Even while sick, he never stopped teaching." Sushi Shunei opened on June 9, 2021, on Montmartre's hill in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. Nine months later, the traditional sushiya received its first Michelin star in the 2022 Michelin Guide. "He never complained, and no customer ever knew he was sick," Kimura said. "He received that star at the age of 65, three months before his passing." One last promise Kimura told BI that before her husband died, he asked her to keep his legacy alive with the restaurant. "He said to me, 'Could you keep this restaurant forever?'" Kimura recalled. "I have to continue. It's my duty." She even kept the restaurant open on the day he died. "I continued, because I knew that's what he wanted," Kimura said. "It wasn't a matter of strength. It was for him." However, it wasn't an easy transition, and Sushi Shunei lost its Michelin star in 2023. "It was a shock. I felt as if I had lost Shunei a second time," Kimura said. "I thought there might be no chance of getting the star back, but I didn't give up." "I turned that pain into obsession," she added. "I had to get it back. Not for me — for him." A star is born Kimura hired sushi chef Takeshi Morooka to help as she continued to hone her skills, even training at Michelin-starred restaurants in Japan. "Every morning, I got up to work. I continued day after day, without pause, I never stopped," Kimura said. "I told myself, 'I must give it my all. I must go all the way.' There was no alternative." "The customers were a great support," she added. "Some came several times just to encourage me. They told me they believed in me. Those words gave me courage." All that hard work paid off. When the 2025 Michelin Guide came out in March, the star was next to Sushi Shunei's name once again. Kimura was now not only a Michelin-starred chef but also the first female sushi chef in the world to earn such a distinction. "I thought of him, of Shunei," Kimura said. "I felt, deep inside, that I had not betrayed his memory. For me, this is not a new star — it's Shunei's star that I managed to win back. I only continued what we had started together." Kimura is committed to keeping that star next to Sushi Shunei's name. She hopes it will inspire women and anyone who has been told "that it was too late, or impossible." "Talent has no gender — only work and courage," Kimura said. "Maybe it seemed unthinkable that at age 50, I would begin a career as a sushi chef without ever having cooked before. But what Shunei passed on to me is faith in work and in determination." "If you hold on, if you believe in what you're doing, anything becomes possible," she added. "That is the greatest lesson."

Derbyshire restaurant loved by Louis Theroux fending off some of the UK's fanciest in national competition
A fancy Peak District restaurant recently visited by Louis Theroux is well and truly putting little old Derbyshire on the map as it looks to fend off some of the biggest names in the restaurant scene. It comes after Deacon's Bank, a stunningly restored bank in Chapel-en-le-Frith, was named as a finalist for 'Restaurant of the Year' at the national British Restaurant Awards. It joins the famed Ritz in Mayfair, The Ledbury in Notting Hill, Azzurra in Chelsea and Happy Bar and Grill in Soho, as well as fellow Northerners at Moor Hall in Lancashire and the Three Chimneys on the Isle of Skye. It is the sixth edition of the awards and looks to shine a spotlight on the UK's best restaurants and food vendors across the UK, with categories including best new restaurant, best chef, best luxury restaurant and best hospitality team - among many more. Nestled on Market Street in Chapel-en-le-Frith, and just over an hour's drive from Derby, the restaurant is housed in a majestic Grade II-listed building that stood empty for four years before being transformed into Deacon's Bank. Although only opening in 2023, the restaurant quickly gained recognition, bagging two AA Rosettes and a mention in the coveted Michelin Guide within its first year. Patrons can indulge in dishes such as braised lamb shoulder, halibut, prosciutto wrapped pork fillet, After Eight mousse and white chocolate parfait. Renowned documentary maker Louis Theroux visited the Peak District restaurant earlier this year, with a spokesperson for the restaurant saying, "Had a special visitor for dinner last night. @officiallouistheroux popped in for a meal on this cold, snowy January weekend." The restaurant staff expressed their excitement online, posting: "Hope you all enjoyed your meal, we certainly enjoyed serving you. We have braved the snow and are open today if you fancy a lovely roast dinner or even just a few drinks." As you'd expect, Deacon's Bank has a catalogue of glowing reviews online, with a 4.9/5-star rating on Tripadvisor, from almost 100 reviews. One recent visitor, Alan G, called it a "wonderful experience", adding: "Being talked through the dishes and the preparation that goes into producing truly exceptional food made for a fabulous evening. "Simon, the chef, and the rest of the staff made our evening very special. We could have chatted for hours. "Good food is hard to come by, and a great dining experience is even harder. Don't miss this place, the food is simply amazing." User Rebbux, giving five stars, said: "Wonderful Sunday lunch, had three courses and all absolutely gorgeous. The parfait was so nice on a bed of tomatoes and herb reduction was the nicest starter I've had for ages. "The guys had roast cod with shellfish reduction which they said was fab and I had a great roast lamb dinner. My son had the caramel tart and said it's the best pudding he's ever had, and the cheeseboard was great too. Would recommend, service was friendly and smooth and the wines were good too." The restaurant will be flying the Derbyshire flag high at the British Restaurant Awards ceremony on Monday, August 18. A spokesperson for the awards said: "From Michelin-starred establishments to beloved local gems, the British Restaurant Awards shines a spotlight on the culinary talent shaping the future of food and dining culture. Join us as we honour excellence, taste the extraordinary, and network with leading voices in hospitality, media, and entertainment."
