Penn State's Abdul Carter posts Lawrence Taylor photo on Giants NFL draft visit

Fox Sports11-04-2025
Penn State star defensive end Abdul Carter may very well be selected by the New York Giants with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft — and such an outcome appears to enthuse the Nittany Lions star.
In the building for a Top-30 visit, Carter posted a photo of Giants legend Lawrence Taylor to X on Friday morning, which includes a quote from late owner Wellington Mara on the bottom, "Once a Giant, always a Giant."
Carter also reportedly had breakfast with Giants head coach Brian Daboll earlier this month.
Taylor, an eight-time All-Pro and the 1986 NFL MVP, spent his entire 13-year career with the Giants (1981-93), for whom he's first in team history with 142 career sacks and regarded as the best player in franchise history.
Carter, who played three seasons at Penn State after redshirting his freshman year, totaled 12 sacks, a Big Ten-high 24 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, four passes defended and 68 combined tackles last season, helping him earn Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors. He played through a shoulder injury in the College Football Playoff, and it was revealed he had a stress reaction in his foot at the NFL Scouting Combine. Regarding the latter, Carter isn't expected to have surgery, according to ESPN.
Carter would join a Giants defense that was 24th in the NFL in total yards surrendered (346.8 per game) and 21st in points surrendered (24.4 per game) last season in what was a 3-14 campaign. That said, they were tied for eighth with 45 sacks on the season.
At first glance, Carter and the Giants aren't a "perfect match," as the franchise acquired and signed outside linebacker and two-time Pro Bowler Brian Burns to a five-year, $141 million deal last offseason and selected outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux with the No. 5 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Oregon. Historically, though, New York has placed an emphasis on pass rushers, with it most recently sporting the combination of Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora in its Super Bowl XLVI season and Michael Strahan, Tuck and Umenyiora, among others, in its Super Bowl XLII season.
As for the draft, the Tennessee Titans are expected to select Miami quarterback and 2024 Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick, with the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 being the team that likely decides whether Carter falls to the Giants; the Browns could select Colorado two-way superstar Travis Hunter or Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
This offseason, the Giants have signed quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year deal, fellow quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year deal, defensive backs Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland to three-year deals and re-signed Darius Slayton to a three-year deal, among other moves.

Former Broncos Tight End Greg Dulcich Predicted to Be Cut by Giants

Former Broncos Tight End Greg Dulcich Predicted to Be Cut by Giants originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Broncos' post-Super Bowl 50 era is littered with misfires, but few sting like cutting Greg Dulcich. The former UCLA star, drafted in 2022, flashed brilliance as a rookie tight end. Now, he's fighting for his NFL life with the New York Giants. Advertisement Dulcich burst onto the scene in 2022, snagging a 39-yard touchdown in his debut against the Los Angeles Chargers. He racked up 33 catches for 411 yards in 10 games, shining brightest in a London win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hopes soared for a dynamic playmaker. Injuries, however, derailed Dulcich's promise. Hamstring issues limited him to two games in 2023, and despite a healthy 2024 start, he dropped passes and missed blocks, leading to his release before the trade deadline. The Broncos' offense never recovered its spark. Now, he competes with Theo Johnson, Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz, and rookie Thomas Fidone for a roster spot. At 24, Dulcich risks becoming a journeyman. Wilson, now on a one-year, $10.5 million guaranteed deal with the Giants, faces his own make-or-break season. Their Denver dreams fizzled, but can they reignite in New York? The 2025 season looms large, with the Giants facing the Broncos in a must-watch clash. Will Dulcich and Wilson salvage their careers, or fade into NFL obscurity? Giants TE Eager To Bounce Back In Year Two

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Giants tight end Theo Johnson was putting together a solid rookie campaign before suffering a foot injury that prematurely ended his season. "I felt it coming on the more comfortable I got," Johnson said on the Giants Huddle podcast. "Just feeling what it's like to be in my groove, like now having an idea, like I've got this many games under my belt, this is what it's gotta look like. Just as it was like, man, I could really finish on a high note this year, the injury happened, which was super discouraging. But encouraging at the same time, because it was like, now I know I'm going to have a full offseason to kind of prepare and figure things out. I definitely felt like I was catching on at the right time. Unfortunately, the injury kind of put a hold on that." Johnson, a 2024 fourth-round pick, got off to a slow start last season but looked comfortable down the stretch. He eclipsed 35+ receiving yards in each of his last five games before injury, promising production given the QB instability in New York. While preparing to make a bigger impact in his sophomore season, Johnson is applying the lessons he learned from last year. "Huge, huge difference," he said when asked to describe the difference between Year 1 and Year 2. "I know what it's like to be a professional football player now. I was learning as I went week by week [as a rookie]." "The big thing for me this year is I want to play 17 games. That's the number one priority. I've been taking my recovery and my health, what I'm putting in my body and everything, more serious than I ever have. I think that's the biggest goal for me is prioritizing my health and wellness and making sure that I'm available and consistent throughout 17 games." Consistency is a key factor in the development of young players, and Johnson is looking forward to getting more work as a pass-catcher. "I think there's a good opportunity for me to do a lot more in the option game this year," Johnson said. "Different things on third downs. All stuff as a tight end you get super excited about, the different concepts and things that really complement my skill set and play style. I think it's gonna be a good mixture of running seams and stuff but working in more intermediate option-type routes, as well." The Giants' tight end room curerntly consists of Theo Johnson, Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz, and Greg Dulcich.

Former Georgia star RB James Cook named in the NFL top 100

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has been named as a top 100 player in the NFL. Cook finished the 2024 season with 1,009 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. He was also a receiving threat and finished the year with 32 receptions, which was third on the team. Cook has been steadily improving since he was selected in the 2022 NFL draft and he has proven he can take on a huge workload for a Super Bowl contender like the Bills. "He might not look as fast as he is moving but he is moving extremely fast," Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins. Cook's 4.4 speed was on display throughout the year. He had four games with a rush for over 40 yards. The young Georgia Bulldogs product is poised for a fantastic NFL career and could easily climb higher in future rankings with another great season. Cook is the bell cow and reliable target for quarterback Josh Allen. Cook is the Bills' No. 1 option in their running game and showcased the ability to generate separation and create explosive plays for the Bills dynamic offense. Cook really showed his value for Buffalo in the postseason. He posted over 300 total yards and three touchdowns as he helped the Bills advance to the AFC championship game. Cook's NFL peers voted him as the No. 89 player on the NFL 100 list. He joins Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey as the two Bulldogs to make the top 100 so far.
