As part of the project, the public works department (PWD) will construct a second flyover at Savitri Cinema junction parallel to the existing structure, which is likely to provide hassle-free movement in areas between Greater Kailash and Nehru Place.
"In addition to that, the plan is to connect the Modi Mill flyover with the Kalkaji flyover by removing a red light intersection near Okhla Mandi. Currently, Nehru Place and traffic towards Nehru Place are getting mixed with local traffic near Savitri Cinema.
"Nehru Place-bound traffic immediately after landing from the Chirag Delhi flyover is split into three parts -- towards Nehru Place, U-turn, and right turn. This causes a slowdown," an official said.

As the project has approvals from the UTTIPEC and the DUAC, the government is actively considering implementing the decongestion plans near Savitri Cinema crossing and Modi Mill intersection, officials added.
The Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure (UTTIPEC) approves the design of all the major infrastructure projects in the city. The construction cost of the entire street network and corridor improvement between Modi Mill flyover and Savitri Cinema flyover is estimated to cost Rs 411.97 crore.
This stretch on Outer Ring Road provides connectivity to areas like Greater Kailash 2, Sukhdev Vihar, Chittaranjan Park, Kalkaji Temple, Nehru Place, Pamposh Enclave, and adjoining areas.
The existing Savitri Cinema flyover was constructed in 2001 with only a single carriageway providing a route from Nehru Place towards IIT Delhi.
The PWD also constructed a flyover in a similar manner near Sarai Kale Khan ISBT to decongest traffic last year.

Peshawar, Jul 27 (PTI) Unknown gunmen fired at a gathering protesting against counter-terrorism operations in Pakistan's northwestern province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, leaving three dead and many injured, a top official said. A day earlier, a mortar strike claimed the life of a girl in the Zakha Khel area of the Khyber District, sparking the Sunday demonstration, during which locals placed the girl's body in front of the Momand Ghuz security checkpoint. Negi accuses BJP of insulting national flag
Shimla, Jul 27(UNI) Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi has strongly criticized BJP leaders and a few local businessmen in Thunag for allegedly insulting the national flag during a protest against the government's decision to shift the Horticulture College from Thunag to a safer location. Negi defended the Congress government's move to relocate the college, citing the recent flash floods and the risk to students' lives. "It is wrong to run a college in a disaster-prone area just to protect business interests of a few people," he said, adding that students living in rented homes in Thunag had themselves requested relocation due to repeated disasters in 2023 and 2024. The Minister said that BJP workers and a handful of shopkeepers tried to block the state government's decision and even created a scene during his visit to the area. 'They surrounded my vehicle, threw black cloths and a slipper-like object at it, and disrespected the tricolour mounted on the car,' he alleged. 'This act amounts to treason,' he added. Negi also questioned the BJP's silence over the incomplete infrastructure of the college. "Out of the total Rs 270 crore sanctioned, only Rs 10 crore was spent when BJP was in power," he claimed. He said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is personally monitoring the situation and relief work is going on without any resistance from the common people. 'Only some BJP leaders and businessmen are trying to politicize the issue,' Negi said. Kolkata: national general secretary is expected to reach Delhi this week as the party intensifies its stir in Parliament, demanding an assurance from the Centre "on the floor of the House" that the special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar will be discussed. The party has said SIR requirements mirror Section 3 of the Citizenship Act, 1955, which makes the exercise "NRC in disguise." Trinamool's leader in Lok Sabha Sudip Bandyopadhyay and senior MP Saugata Roy are not in Delhi due to health reasons. The party's chief whip in Lok Sabha, Kalyan Banerjee, is representing Bengal govt in cases and shuttling between Supreme Court and Calcutta High Court. On Friday, the party's deputy Lok Sabha leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar attended the all-party meeting convened by Speaker Om Birla. Banerjee is likely to remain in Delhi and work on party strategy.
