Last month, a special screening of the film was held in Delhi, where Congress MP Shashi Tharoor joined Aamir. After watching the film, Tharoor praised it for its emotional depth and strong message.
Tharoor said, 'It is an emotional and heartwarming movie. It teaches a lot. All of Aamir's performances are great, so I expected nothing less. His acting was first-class in the movie... I liked the story as well. It was well-written. Anyone who watches this movie will not only enjoy it but also learn a lot.'
He added, 'Many ambassadors who attended the screening expressed their happiness at being there to watch the film... A Lok Sabha staff member was here with his physically challenged daughter. Looking at her smile while watching the movie made him (Aamir Khan) tear up.'
Talking about Sitaare Zameen Par, it is a sequel to the blockbuster movie 'Taare Zameen Par'. In the sports drama, Aamir plays the role of a basketball coach who is tasked with training a group of neurodivergent children. The film, directed by Prasanna, hit theatres on June 20. (ANI)

"Will have to cross that bridge when we come to it": Jaishankar on Lindsey Graham's Russian sanctions bill
Washington, DC [US], July 3 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Wednesday (local time) that the Indian embassy and ambassador have been in touch with US Senator Lindsey Graham regarding the bill on Russia and India will have to cross that bridge if it comes to it. While addressing a press conference, Jaishankar stated that India's concerns and interests on energy, security have been made conversant to Graham. When asked about US plans to impose 500 per cent tariffs on the import of Russian Oil, Jaishankar said, 'Regarding Senator Lindsey Graham's bill, any development which is happening in the US Congress is of interest to us if it impacts our interest or could impact our interest. So, we have been in touch with Senator Graham. The embassy, ambassador have been in touch. Our concerns and our interests on energy, security have been made conversant to him. So, we'll then have to cross that bridge when we come to it, if we come to it.' Graham's sanctions bill on Russia would impose a 500 per cent tariff on imports from any nation that purchases Russian oil, gas, uranium and other products, The Hill reported. The bill has over 80 co-sponsors in the Senate, potentially making it veto-proof. After the war erupted between Russia and Ukraine, the US and Western nations imposed sanctions on Moscow. However, India has continued to purchase Russian oil. Earlier in May, Lindsey Graham said he is in touch with US President Donald Trump regarding the bill. Republican lawmakers have indicated they are worried about moving the bill but are waiting for approval from Trump before bringing the legislation to the floor. When asked whether Trump is giving instructions on when the bill will come to the floor, Graham stated, 'We are separate entities coordinating with each other,' The Hill reported. Graham is proposing a carveout for his Russian sanctions bill to exclude nations that help Ukraine's defence, protecting them from a 500 per cent tariff for trading with Russia. (ANI)

Hubbali (Karnataka) [India], July 3 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Mahesh Tenginkai slammed Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge over his recent statement to ban the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that the Congress does not even deserve to sit in the 'opposition' and that Kharge should think before making such a statement. The BJP MLA stated that his party will remain in power for the next 20 years and that no attention will be given to Priyank Kharge's statement. 'Priyank Kharge should think once. BJP is PM Narendra Modi's party, which will stay in power for 20 more years. Your party (Congress) will not be in power. It doesn't even deserve to be in is no need to give more attention to his statement', the BJP MLA said. Following Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge's statement of imposing a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the BJP has hit back at the Congress leader, stating that the minister is 'threatening bans' as he feels that the situation in the country is like the year 1975. The Karnataka unit of the BJP slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge through an 'X' post. Stating that Kalaburagi, which has been 'ruled' by Kharge for more than 50 years, remains one of the most 'underdeveloped' parts of Karnataka. 'Priyank Kharge, a minister only because of his father's influence, is now threatening bans like it's 1975 all over again. Furthermore, the BJP stated that the both Priyank and Mallikarjun Kharge had so much to contribute towards the development of the state, but they spent their time 'chasing fantasies' like banning RSS. The 'X' post said that Priyank Kharge feels that he can distract the attention of Karnataka people by making such statements, but he has 'failed' in his attempt. 'Mini Kharge, along with his father, had so much to contribute but spent their time chasing fantasies like banning the RSS. And if he thinks making such statements will distract Kannadigas from the Multi Crore Housing Committee scam, he has failed. Just like he did in first PUC', the 'X' post said. Priyank Kharge on Tuesday slammed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over their General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's statement demanding reconsideration of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Alleging that the RSS wants to 'alter' the Indian Constitution, Kharge said that these are the same people who 'staged a protest when the constituent assembly debates were going on and burned the constitution'. Responding to recent remarks made by Hosabale, the Karnataka Minister said, 'Very clearly, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in his last speech has defined anti-nationals as those who create animosity by bringing in caste, and those people who are going to impede the social, political and economic progress of the country are the real anti-national. Those people who sow the seeds of communal hatred in society are anti-national. So who's doing that right now?...'. (ANI)
