Hibs confirm coach and former player Darren McGregor involved in road crash
An Edinburgh Hibs coach is recovering after a road crash on Friday evening, June 20.
The team confirmed Darren McGregor is unable to play his testimonial match against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, July 20, after the incident.
The nature of the crash or the location is not known at this time.
The Scottish Cup-winning defender underwent surgery at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
The football club and Darren's testimonial wished him a speedy recovery. Darren will still be in attendance at the game to commemorate his career.
A statement from Hibernian FC reads: "It's with sadness that we can confirm that Darren McGregor won't be able to play in his testimonial match against Bolton Wanderers next month.
"McGregor was involved in a vehicle collision on Friday evening (20 June, 2025) and is now recovering after undergoing surgery at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Everyone associated with the Football Club and Darren McGregor's testimonial wishes him a speedy recovery.

"Whilst 'Daz' can't feature in the match, he will still be able to attend with the game commemorating his fantastic career.
"McGregor will meet supporters inside Easter Road Stadium, and in the hospitality suites, alongside walking out onto the pitch for an interview to thanks Hibs fans for their support.
"Tickets for the game against Bolton are still on sale, with tickets priced at just £12 for adults. Darren McGregor's Testimonial Committee will also be hosting various hospitality packages for the match versus Bolton Wanderers.
"As he can't play, 'Daz' will be walking around the hospitality suites and speaking to supporters both before the match, at half-time, and at full-time."
Darren's service to Hibernian FC will be commemorated at Easter Road. He was seen as an integral part of the Club's Scottish Cup triumph in 2016 playing in all seven matches.
After he hung up his boots, 'Daz' was appointed as Head Coach for the Under-18s side, who recently won the CAS Elite League title under his stewardship and are preparing for UEFA Youth League football next season.
Darren McGregor Testimonial Committee Chairman, Graeme Cadger previously said: 'We would like to thank Hibernian FC for their cooperation, Bolton Wanderers FC for agreeing to provide the opposition, and to David Gray for allowing Darren to play part of the match.
'We believe this will be a great occasion to celebrate the career of a Hibernian FC great, and we hope to see as many supporters there as possible to give Daz a moment to remember.'

Celtic's '12th Lisbon Lion' John Fallon dies aged 84
Fallon was the only Celtic substitute when Jock Stein's side beat Inter Milan 2-1 in the Portuguese capital to win the European Cup in 1967. The Cambuslang-born goalkeeper joined Celtic in 1958 and made almost 200 appearances over a 14-year period. He played in the team that kick-started Celtic's trophy success under Stein with victory over Dunfermline in the 1965 Scottish Cup final and went on to collect 14 winners' medals in total before leaving for Motherwell. He also had a brief spell with Morton before retiring. A statement from the Scottish champions read: 'His love for Celtic, however, was a constant throughout the years, and he followed the club at home and away for the rest of life. 'His passing comes as a great sadness to us all, and the thoughts and prayers of everyone connected with Celtic Football Club are with his family and friends at this sad time.' Fallon was reunited with his European Cup winners' medal in 2019, having lost it in the wake of the final. The memento was donated to Celtic, who returned it to its rightful owner. Speaking at the time, Fallon told the Celtic website: 'We were wading through scores of fans to get off the park and into the dressing room. It's such a great memory. 'We'll never forget it, and it's something everyone should be proud of. For the Celtic supporters, we gave them something to look at that nobody else could.' Fallon attended the funeral of fellow Lisbon Lion John Clark last month.
