Akhilesh Yadav's step brother alleges cheating by real estate businessman
Prateek, in a complaint lodged at Gautampalli police station in Lucknow, on Sunday, alleged that he was cheated by one Krishnanand Pandey, a resident of Chinhat, who deals in real estate.
Prateek named Krishnanand Pandey, his wife Vandana Pandey and father Ashok Pandey in the complaint following which an FIR has been lodged against the three under the relevant sections of BNS pertaining to extortion, cheating and IT Act.
Krishnanand had formed a real estate company and allegedly cheated Prateek on the pretext of investing his money in the firm. As per theComplaint, when Prateek asked for his money, Krishnanand threatened him with getting him implicated in a fake POSCO case and making a fake audio viral.
Notably, Patek Yadav's wife Aparna Yadav is a BJP leader and is currently holding the position of the Vice- President of state women's commission.
Prateek allegedly mentioned in his complaint that Krishnanand Pandey had also demanded Rs 5 crore more from him.
The sources claimed that Prateek, the son of SP patriarch late Mulayam Singh Yadav's second wife Sadhna Gupta, told the cops that he came in contact with Krishnanand Pandey in 2012 when the latter had come up with a business proposal of buying prime land along Shaheed Path. Krishnanand and his associate US Bisht then formed a company in 2015 in which both of them were directors.

Body of DU student from Tripura recovered from Yamuna
New Delhi, July 14 (UNI) The body of a 19-year-old Delhi University (DU) student from Tripura, reported missing over a week ago, was recovered from the Yamuna River under the Geeta Colony flyover area, Delhi Police confirmed. Sneha, a Mathematics student at DU's Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, belonged to Sabroom's Bhuratali village in South Tripura district. Her family has resided in Delhi for several years. Police stated that Sneha went missing on July 7 from Paryavaran Complex, and a missing person's complaint was filed the same day. An FIR under Section 140 (3) (kidnapping/abduction) of the BNS was registered on July 9. A suicide note was found in her room on July 8, and police were informed immediately. Citing the note, police revealed Sneha had stated her decision to end her life, asserting no one was to blame. The note, confirmed to be in her handwriting, also expressed feelings like finding life unbearable and a burden. "The note provided by the family indicated her intention to jump from Signature Bridge," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan. Yesterday, Tripura CM Manik Saha expressed his condolences, terming her death "sad and heartbreaking," and instructed Tripura Bhawan, New Delhi, to coordinate with the Delhi administration for further formalities. Govt cornered on exam bungling; Cong seeks CBI probe, walks out
Raipur: The Opposition Congress staged a walkout in the on the first day of the monsoon session on Monday, over alleged irregularities in the RI examination, demanding a CBI probe into the matter. The din in the assembly concerned the alleged irregularities in the departmental examination for Revenue Inspectors (RI). BJP MLA Rajesh Munat raised the issue, claiming it occurred under the previous Congress govt, while the opposition countered that the exam took place under the current BJP administration in Jan 2024, with results declared in Feb. Congress MLA and former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel demanded the CBI probe. Revenue minister Tankram Verma acknowledged the irregularities and said a five-member committee confirmed it. He informed that the case was handed over to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for a detailed probe and promised action before the next Assembly session. Heated exchanges between ruling and opposition members over responsibility and delay in action led to a walkout by Opposition MLAs. On the other hand, BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar questioned the decision to transfer the probe to the EOW, to which Verma replied that the department itself referred the matter. MLA Munat highlighted that the examination was conducted barely a week after the minister took charge of the department. He questioned why no action was taken despite the investigation by a team of five senior officers confirming irregularities. Former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel inquired whether the examination took place before or after the current BJP govt came to power. Verma confirmed that the examination was held in Jan 2024 and the results were declared in Feb. This response led to a strong protest in the Assembly, with opposition MLAs accusing the BJP govt of irregularities. Baghel alleged attempts to shield the culprits and asked if the matter would be investigated by the CBI. BJP MLA Dharamlal Kaushik retorted, asking if Baghel trusted the CBI. Following this, the Opposition staged a walkout from the Assembly. Earlier, BJP MLA Munat had asked the minister about the status of the home department's inquiry, when action would be taken against the culprits, and the total number of candidates who appeared for the examination. The minister informed the Assembly that even siblings were found seated together in the examination. The general administration department had written to the home department for an inquiry, which in turn responded that the concerned department was competent to handle the matter. The case has now been handed over to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) as part of the govt's stand on a 'zero' tolerance policy on corruption, and an investigation commenced. Verma affirmed that no one would be spared, and action would be taken against those found guilty, similar to the ongoing inquiry into irregularities in the Bharatmala project. The revenue minister also said that the recruitment would provide necessary staff to the revenue department, streamlining its operations. Haathi Park runs into jumbo hurdles: Crumbling infra, poor upkeep & neglect
Lucknow: Once a vibrant public space and weekend destination for families, the famous Haathi Park in the Old City is now a picture of neglect. Crumbling infrastructure, broken play equipment, and a complete absence of maintenance have left the park in a dilapidated state, paving the way for drug addicts and criminal elements to take over the premises after dark. Located strategically between the Daliganj railway and road bridges on MG Road, the park was once famed for its concrete elephant structure with internal stairs that children could climb. Now, it stands vandalised and misused, with its trunk and mouth reportedly being used to stash drugs. Mohan Singh, a shopkeeper in the locality, said: "The swings are broken, the lights don't work, and there's no one to guard the area. Criminals and addicts start gathering here every evening. What used to be a safe space for kids is now a spot we avoid after sunset." Discarded syringes, empty liquor bottles and tablet wrappers litter the park's corners. Despite repeated complaints, there was no response from the Lucknow Municipal Corporation or the police. With a nominal Rs 5 entry fee, they attracted hundreds daily and were part of every Lucknowite's childhood. While Buddha Park was renovated, Haathi Park was left to decay. It deserves the same attention," said Abdul Rauf, 68, a retired govt teacher from Chowk. Residents are now demanding that the LMC steps in to restore the park, with proper lighting, round-the-clock security and basic upkeep.
