RBC Canadian Open 2025: Rory McIlroy headlines full field at TPC Toronto
McIlroy skipped the signature event Memorial Tournament, opting for a three-week run of: RBC Canadian, U.S. Open and Travelers Championship (final signature event of the season).
The world No. 2 has twice before won this event, in 2019 and 2022. He tied for ninth in 2023 and tied for fourth last year. Those four starts have stretched over three different venues; TPC Toronto will be a fourth.

Open with her most lopsided victory of the tournament, defeating Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-2 in the final on Sunday. The left-handed Fernandez, a 22-year-old from Canada who is ranked 36th, earned her fourth singles trophy — all have come at hard-court tournaments — and first at a WTA 500 event. She came quite close to a Grand Slam championship as a teenager at the 2021 U.S. Open, making it all the way to the final in New York before losing to Emma Raducanu. There almost was a rematch in Washington, but Kalinskaya eliminated Raducanu in the semifinals Saturday. Until Sunday, the 48th-ranked Kalinskaya had not dropped a set all week. However, she wasn't able to keep up with Fernandez, who saved the only two break points she faced while taking four of Kalinskaya's service games in a match that lasted 1 hour, 10 minutes. One key: Fernandez claimed 10 of the 12 points in the match when Kalinskaya hit a second serve. This was the first title for Fernandez since October 2023 at the Hong Kong Open. She arrived in Washington with a losing record this season and hadn't won more than two matches at the same tournament since last November. With a mix of baseline excellence and strong net play, Fernandez eliminated top-seeded Jessica Pegula — the U.S. Open runner-up last year — and No. 3 seed Elena Rybakina — the Wimbledon champion in 2022 — on the way to the final. The win against Rybakina in Saturday's semifinals took three tiebreakers and more than three hours to decide. There was no such drama against Kalinskaya, a 26-year-old Russian who fell to 0-3 in tour-level finals. She lost to Jasmine Paolini in Dubai and to Pegula in Berlin last year. Pro sinks long eagle putt to card 59, the second sub-60 round on PGA Tour Americas this week
Prior to Saturday, there had only ever been one 59 carded on the PGA Tour Americas. Now, on Sunday afternoon, there have been three. Brett White rolled in a 63-foot bomb for eagle on the par-5 18th at the aptly named Eagle Creek Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario, during the final round of the Commissionaires Ottawa Open. The putt capped off a 8-under 28 on the back nine, culminating in the third 59 ever posted on the PGA Tour Americas. It might have been the third ever, but it was the second of the week. On Saturday, Philip Barbaree — who made headlines when he made the cut at the U.S. Open in an emotional moment with his wife, Chloe, on the bag — also fired a 59 at Eagle Creek. He did it in strikingly similar fashion to White, making eagle on the last to finish with a 28 on the inward nine.

Padraig Harrington wins Senior British Open for his second senior major title this year
Associated Press BERKSHIRE, England (AP) — Padraig Harrington was so focused on his game that he didn't notice a leaderboard or see Rory McIlroy walking in the gallery Sunday at the Senior British Open. He closed with a 3-under 67 to win his second senior major of the year. Staked to a two-shot lead, Harrington made eagle on the first hole on the Old Course at Sunningdale and no one got closer than two shots the rest of the way as he became the fifth player with a Senior British Open and a British Open title. He won by three shots over Thomas Bjorn (67) and Justin Leonard (68). 'I'm thrilled to have won but very satisfied that I've won a Senior Open with my two Opens,' Harrington said. 'The fact that only five people have ever done it is quite special. I'm quite proud that I've managed to survive this long in the game.' He joined Darren Clarke, Tom Watson, Gary Player and Bob Charles as players to have won the British Open and the senior version. McIlroy walked around for a bit on the London-area course, though it wasn't much of a show. Harrington seized control late in the third round and never gave anyone much of a chance. Bjorn made a late charge to get within two shots, but that ended with a bogey on the 16th. "The only time I saw a leaderboard was on 18," said Harrington, who said he asked his caddie for an update on the 17th hole. 'Was fully focused on what I was doing. The Irishman was surprised to hear McIlroy, who is building a home in London, was at Sunningdale for the final round. 'I didn't see him out there. Was he out there?' Harrington said. 'I had the head down all day. I never saw anybody. I had no idea.' Harrington now has 11 titles on the PGA Tour Champions, and he has won multiple times each of the last four seasons.
