IMD forecasts cloudy sky with moderate rain in Delhi

New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius, 1.1 notches above the season's average on Monday morning.
According to the the India Meteorological Department (IMD) the maximum temperature is expected to rise to around 37.5 degrees Celsius.
Delhiites can expect a cloudy sky with moderate rain during the day, according to the IMD.
At 8:30 am, humidity levels were recorded at 76 per cent.
Meanwhile, Delhi residents started their day with 'satisfactory" air quality as the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 65 on Monday.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good", 51 and 100 'satisfactory", 101 and 200 'moderate", 201 and 300 'poor", 301 and 400 'very poor", and 401 and 500 'severe". PTI MHS MNK MNK

Flood-like situation in parts of Rajasthan after heavy rain
Heavy rains in Rajasthan have led to a flood-like situation and rivers are in spate in many districts due to which, gates of various dams had to be opened, the weather department said on Tuesday (July 29, 2025). Villages in low-lying areas downstream of the swollen rivers have been submerged. Rivers in several districts, including Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, Dholpur and Tonk, are overflowing following heavy downpour. The State meteorological department has issued a rain alert in 29 districts. Two rooms of Government Senior Secondary School in Peepla Gram Panchayat, Kotda, Udaipur, collapsed on Monday night. At 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, light to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms was recorded in the last 24 hours at many places in east Rajasthan. Very light rainfall was recorded at some places in north Rajasthan. The highest rainfall in the State was recorded at Atru (Baran) at 109 mm. The highest maximum temperature was recorded at Sriganganagar at 40.3 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Sirohi at 20.5 degrees Celsius. Average humidity in the air was recorded between 70-100% in most parts of the State.

Heavy Rainfall In Delhi-NCR Brings Much-Needed Relief, Air Quality Improves
New Delhi: Heavy rainfall on Tuesday brought much-needed respite from the lingering heat in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), as the intermittent showers and overcast skies have not only brought down soaring temperatures but also led to a significant improvement in air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has improved across many parts of Delhi and NCR, offering residents cleaner and fresher air to breathe. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this pleasant weather is expected to linger for the next week. From July 29 to August 3, the skies will remain mostly cloudy, with the likelihood of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall at several locations. The IMD forecast indicates "moderate rain" on July 29 and 30, followed by "thunderstorms with rain" from July 31 to August 1. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to continue through August 2 and 3. During this period, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 30 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius, while minimums will likely hover between 24 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius. This weather has also brought about a considerable drop in pollution levels. As per data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and various State Pollution Control Boards, AQI levels in several areas of Delhi have improved to the 'satisfactory' category. On Tuesday, many areas recorded a significant improvement in air quality - Alipur (84), Ashok Vihar (88), ITO (99), Narela (88), IGI Airport (82), and Chandni Chowk (69). However, AQI levels in parts of the city like Jahangirpuri (156), Mundka (135), and Dwarka Sector-8 (105) still fall within the 'moderate' category. Surrounding regions have also benefited from the seasonal showers. Noida's Sector-125 recorded an AQI of 97, Sector-62 was at 61, and Greater Noida's Knowledge Park-III registered an impressive 57. In Ghaziabad, AQI at Indirapuram was (63), Sanjay Nagar (93), and Vasundhara (83), showing marked improvement. This refreshing spell of rain and cool winds has not only brought relief from the heat and humidity but also offered a temporary break from the persistent issue of air pollution.
