Christopher Eccleston has been filming in Newport
While residents of Newport may see a film crew swarming landmarks in Newport and immediately think of Doctor Who, this production is entirely different.
Welsh production company Hello Deer are currently filming in John Frost Square Newport Central Library, producing a new feature film titled 'About a Bell'.
'About a Bell' is an independent film about Sami, a Syrian refugee, and Bryony, a young librarian, who embark on a highly personal quest to preserve a bell from a demolished church.
Listings on IMDB detail that Sami is played by comedian Omid Djalili, and Bryony will be played by Eleanor Worthington-Cox. This main duo will be joined by some giants of British acting including Doctor Who star and Emmy Award Winner Christopher Eccleston, Jonathan Rhodes and Scot Williams.
Though the public may not be allowed into the library today, it would be safe to assume that it has been entirely taken over by cameras and crew.
This stellar cast will be directed by BAFTA nominee and star of 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' Simon Callow, who is making his first foray into directing since the 1990s.
Unlike most other film crews this one is very small and only employs around 40 people, but staff on set feel that this is the best way to operate.
Location assistant Matthew Marais, 25, said: 'I think they want to film in Newport as it's a city that's been developed.
'These independent films are the best kind of jobs because everyone cares so much more. If its someone's passion project, like this, then everybody wants to try harder to bring it to life.'
Rehearsals for the film began last week in Newport, inside the company's production office on the other side of the river from today's filming location. In a cryptic post on Instagram, viewers were shown two of Newport's infamous bridges that any dedicated resident would recognise.
Filming will take place around Newport and Cardiff, before the production moves to Belgium to complete filming in a few weeks. The production itself is set in Newport, so residents are sure to see parts of the much-loved city they call home throughout the film when it is released.
There is no release date announced for the production yet.

Emma Raducanu breaks silence on Carlos Alcaraz rumours with four-word response
Emma Raducanu has responded to rumours of a blossoming romance between herself and her US Open doubles partner Carlos Alcaraz ahead of the start of Wimbledon on Monday Emma Raducanu has laughed off suggestions of a romantic relationship with Carlos Alcaraz on the eve of Wimbledon. Raducanu will team up with Alcaraz to play mixed doubles at the US Open later this year – and the exciting pairing has led to suggestions of something more between them. The British No.1 is preparing to face teenage wildcard Mimi Xu in the first round at Wimbledon on Monday. The world No.38 is focused on the match after competing at Eastbourne, but still had to address rumours about Alcaraz in her pre-tournament press conference in SW19. Raducanu has been friends with the Spaniard for four years and they were spotted practising together at Wimbledon on Friday. Asked if they had discussed tactics for the US Open, she replied: 'No, it was fun yesterday. We were both on court with (water brand) Evian. 'Yeah, we were just getting some volley practicing ahead of New York. Yeah, I'm really happy obviously to be playing with him. Yeah, we had a good time yesterday.' Later in the press conference, came the question she must have known was coming. Asked if there was any substance in the romance rumours, Raducanu replied with a smile: 'We're just good friends.' The interview moderator then stepped in to end the questions, prompting a laugh from Raducanu, who added: 'Way to wrap up!' Raducanu and Alcaraz are both 22 years old and the British star recently explained how they became friends. She said: 'I've known him for years and actually in Wimbledon 2021, it was like kind of the first time I started getting to know him, and I had a good run there and then also again in the US Open in 2021. 'And I remember he was always playing the day before me and I was playing like the second day of the round. And I would see him win and then I would have motivation to win and get myself into that position too. 'And I remember he beat Stef [Tsitsipas] in the third round and it was like a big win, his breakout kind of win on a big stage and it was really cool to kind of, I guess, go through that tournament together and then I kept going through the US Open, but we were staying in touch for the whole time and yeah, it's nice.' She added: 'We have a good relationship still. He's obviously overtaken me a lot, but it's nice that we have that from a while ago. 'I think for all of us, we really kind of value those connections that we had from when we were young because when you become a bit more known or a bit more successful, you just find yourself reverting back to people you knew from a young age because you're like, that's a real genuine connection, because it becomes very busy and you have a lot more friends but the ones that you've known for a long time mean a lot more to you.'

Sounds pretty good, right? Well, things take a sinister turn when a strange beggar warns Norah that she will kill a man sometime in the future. Not feeling particularly homicidal, the young writer ignores the warning, that is, until strange things start occurring. Can Norah avoid her murderous fate? Well, you'll have to watch to find out. Meanwhile, another user gave the series 9/10 and said The Shadow was a 'testament to the potential of television as a medium for nuanced, character-driven narratives.' High praise indeed! However, that's not the only accolade the show has earned; it won the Audience Choice Award at the German Seriencamp Festival in 2023, and Kino magazine gave it 4.5 stars. More Trending Meanwhile, DWDL's critic Timo Niemeier wrote in his review, 'the creators went to great lengths in the first five episodes to keep viewers guessing as long as possible about what actually happened, the story is resolved almost perfectly at the end.' Kylie Jenner accused of breaking major rule at Jeff Bezos and Lauren's wedding
Jeff Bezos and long-term love Lauren Sanchez pulled out all the stops for their £48million wedding ceremony in Venice - but A-List guest Kylie Jenner may have broken a huge rule... Kylie Jenner was amongst the many celebrities at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's lavish Venice wedding ceremony this week, but fans think she may have broken one huge rule. The 27-year-old was in attendance alongside sisters, Kim, Khloe and Kendall, as she was spotted getting into a water taxi in what looked like a white corset dress. Many fans were left in shock upon first look of the custom-designed gown by Turkish-British designer Dilara Findikoglu, which featured lace-up detailing. However, upon further inspection it became apparent that Kylie Jenner 's dress was blue and silver under the right lighting, with it being described as "icy blue" online. Fans, however, were still up in arms over the dress, as they claimed Kyle 'broke' the rule of not wearing white, which is traditionally worn by the bride. Taking to social media, one fan penned: "Y is Kylie Jenner wearing white??", as a second penned: "White should be the last colour choice!" As for Lauren's dress, the bride, 55, stunned in a bespoke Dolce & Gabbana gown. The long sleeved white gown featured a huge train and stunning white flower detailing, including white floral appliques over the corset style dress. As well as the Kardashian-Jenners, a number of other A-List celebrities were in attendance, including, Oprah Winfrey and Leonardo DiCaprio and Ivanka Trump. An A-List guest list watched on as Jeff and Lauren exchanged vows in a ceremony lasting about 25 minutes, with family and friends gathered at the event. They were heard cheering, clapping and whistling for the pair after they said 'I do'. To kick off the lavish ceremony, a Gospel Choir welcomed the guests and the bride and groom into the event, with the choir singing Whitney Houston's Higher Love. Opera star Matteo Bocelli, son of of singer Andrea Bocelli, performed at the pair's wedding reception, where he sang Elvis Presley's song I Can't Help Falling in Love With You. Andrea could not attend the ceremony as he was in concert. Despite celebrating their wedding this weekend in Venice, it's been reported that the couple tied the knot weeks ago. An insider involved in the event planning, they said: 'They have been married for at least a month, more than a month. The marriage is fully legal and took place in America under American law.'
