Both have been released on bail as an investigation continues.
Det Sgt Mike Steer, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, said the Corsa was travelling away from Melton Mowbray with the BMW coming from the other direction
He said: "We want to speak to anyone who saw this BMW driving in the minutes leading up to the collision.
"I also want to make a direct appeal to a HGV driver who we know was in the area when the collision happened.
"The dashcam in the vehicle may show exactly what happened."

UK police assess footage of Glastonbury acts over anti-Israel chants
British police say they are reviewing comments made on stage by rap punk duo Bob Vylan and hip hop trio Kneecap at this year's Glastonbury Festival. Rapper Bobby Vylan took to the festival's third-biggest West Holts Stage on Saturday shouting 'Free, free Palestine,' before leading crowds to chants against the Israeli military. Video showed the rapper shouting into the mic, 'Alright, but have you heard this one though? Death, death to the IDF (Israel Defense Forces).' The artist also performed in front of a screen that displayed a message which read: 'United Nations have called it a genocide. The BBC calls it a 'conflict,'' referring to the UK's public broadcaster that has been showing the festival live. The Israeli Embassy in the UK said it was 'deeply disturbed' by what it called 'inflammatory and hateful' rhetoric at the festival. It said that when chants such as 'Death to the IDF' are said in front of tens of thousands of festivalgoers, 'it raises serious concerns about the normalisation of extremist language and the glorification of violence.' 'We call on Glastonbury Festival organisers, artists, and public leaders in the UK to denounce this rhetoric and reject of all forms of hatred,' it added. Glastonbury Festival said in a statement that it was 'appalled' by Vylan's remarks. 'Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence,' organizers said. Ahead of the five-day music festival, all eyes were on Irish-language hip hop trio Kneecap after band member Liam O'Hanna – who performs under the stage name Mo Chara – was charged last month with a terrorism offense following an investigation by London's Metropolitan Police. The charge, which he has denied, relates to a London gig in November 2024 where he allegedly displayed a flag of Hezbollah – a proscribed terrorist organization banned under UK law. Ahead of the festival at Worthy Farm, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said it was not 'appropriate' for the group to perform. Kneecap have been vocal critics of Israel's war in Gaza but have previously said it has never supported Hamas or Hezbollah. During the set, Mo Chara told the crowds that recent events had been 'stressful' but that it was nothing in comparison to 'what the Palestinian people are going through.' Kneecap rapper Naoise O Caireallain, who goes by the stage name Móglaí Bap, hit back at Starmer's comment during Saturday's set: 'The Prime Minister of your country, not mine, said he didn't want us to play, so f**k Keir Starmer.' In reference to his bandmate's forthcoming court date, O Caireallain also said they would 'start a riot outside the courts,' before adding: 'I don't want anybody to start a riot. No riots just love and support, and more importantly support for Palestine.' Police in Somerset, where the festival is held, said the force was 'aware of the comments made by acts' and that 'video evidence will be assessed by officers to determine whether any offences may have been committed that would require a criminal investigation.' UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting slammed the performance as 'appalling' in an interview with Sky News on Sunday morning. He said that the BBC, which broadcast the set live, and Glastonbury 'have got questions to answer.' A BBC spokesperson said that some of the comments made during Vylan's performance were 'deeply offensive,' and added it had no plans to make the performance available on demand through its iPlayer streaming platform.

Areas with highest-risk for dog attacks on postal workers revealed amid rise
The number of dog attacks on postal workers has increased over the past year, new figures reveal. Royal Mail said there were 2,197 dog attacks on its staff, a 2% increase compared with the previous year. The figure equates to an average of 42 attacks every week across the UK, with some leading to permanent and disabling injuries for victims. There were 74 significant injuries recorded in 2024/25 compared with the 82 reported in 2023/24, according to the figures, released at the start of the annual Dog Awareness Week, aimed at encouraging responsible dog ownership. Royal Mail urged dog owners to ensure they understand the often-devastating impact of dog attacks on postmen and postwomen and take proper measures to ensure their pets pose no threat to delivery postal workers. The highest-risk location in the past year was the S (Sheffield) postcode, where 66 postal workers suffered dog attacks, followed by the PO (Portsmouth) postcode area with 60 attacks and the TN (Kent/Sussex/Surrey) postcode area with 56 attacks. As in previous years, nearly half of dog attacks took place at the front door, one in four took place in gardens, drives or yards, and almost one in 10 took place in the street or road. 🍄 Spore-tacular news! Inquest to examine death of RuPaul's Drag Race UK star The Vivienne
The inquest into the death of The Vivienne, the winner of the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, is set to take place. James Lee Williams, 32, died at home in Chorlton-by-Backford, Cheshire, on January 5. In March, the star's family revealed the drag queen had died 'from the effects of ketamine use causing a cardiac arrest', saying they wanted to raise awareness about the dangers of the drug. The inquest will be heard by senior coroner Jacqueline Devonish at Cheshire Coroner's Court in Warrington. The Vivienne was found dead in the bathroom of their home near Chester, the opening of the inquest was told. Police attended and confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances. During their time on the show, The Vivienne admitted having been a drug addict for four years. Speaking on the the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, they said: 'It was party, drugs, but I couldn't leave the drugs at the party, it was constant for me.' They added that their addiction was a 'habit that caught on a bit too quick and a bit too hard'. The star performed as the Wicked Witch of the West in a UK and Ireland tour of The Wizard Of Oz musical and reprised the role in the West End at the Gillian Lynne Theatre last year. They were due back on stage in March as the Childcatcher in a tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a role they first played last year. Their funeral in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, North Wales, was attended by RuPaul's Drag Race UK contestants Tia Kofi and Baga Chipz, along with singers Ian 'H' Watkins and Aston Merrygold and Coronation Street actress Claire Sweeney. The Government is seeking expert advice after illegal use of ketamine surged to record levels. In the year ending March 2023, an estimated 299,000 people aged 16 to 59 had reported use of the substance, which is controlled as class B, according to the Home Office.
