RM8m CBT trial of Vivy Yusof, husband to begin on April 13, 2026
Judge Rosli Ahmad set the trial dates for April 13 to 17, May 18 to 22, and June 8 to 12, 2026.
'The trial will run for 15 days, and the court has set the next case mention for Oct 27,' said Rosli.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin requested the court fix the trial dates agreed upon by both the prosecution and defence. Lawyer M. Athimulan is representing the couple.
Wan Shaharuddin told the court that the prosecution will call 26 witnesses to testify.
The accused, both 37, were not present in court today as their attendance had been exempted.
On Dec 5 last year, Vivy and Fadzarudin pleaded not guilty to a charge of committing CBT in their capacity as directors of FashionValet Sdn Bhd. They were accused of misappropriating investment funds entrusted to them by Khazanah and PNB by transferring RM8 million from FashionValet Sdn Bhd's company account to 30 Maple Sdn Bhd without the approval of FashionValet's board of directors.
The offence was allegedly committed at Public Bank Berhad, Bukit Damansara Branch, 36-40 Medan Setia 2, Plaza Damansara, Bukit Damansara, here, on Aug 21, 2018.
The charge, framed under Section 409 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, provides for a minimum sentence of two years and a maximum of 20 years in jail, whipping, and a fine upon conviction.
They also pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge of jointly and dishonestly misusing company property, namely, RM8 million in investment funds from Khazanah and PNB belonging to FashionValet Sdn Bhd under Section 403 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which provides for an imprisonment of between six months and five years, along with caning and a fine upon conviction. — BERNAMA

KOTA BARU: Police have arrested five suspects believed to be involved in illegal moneylending activities, including threats and acts of mischief, such as splashing red paint on borrowers' homes. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspects, aged between 25 and 39, were detained under Ops Vulture in separate raids. The first suspect was apprehended on Wednesday (July 23) in Pasir Tumboh, Kubang Kerian, while the other four were arrested on Friday following a red paint incident in Pasir Hor. Police also seized 34 items believed to have been used in these activities, including red paint, threatening notes, clothing, face masks, mobile phones, and motorcycles. "Preliminary investigations revealed that all five suspects are believed to be linked to at least nine cases of property damage in Kota Baru, Tumpat, and Tanah Merah. "Their actions included breaking window panes with stones, pasting threatening notes, and padlocking borrowers' gates as a form of intimidation," he said in a statement on Sunday night. Mohd Yusoff said the case is being investigated under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951 and Sections 427/506 of the Penal Code. Kelantan loan shark ring busted in Op Vulture raids
KOTA BARU: Police have crippled an illegal moneylending syndicate following a series of raids under Op Vulture targeting loan shark activities involving threats and property damage in Kelantan. State police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the operation, jointly conducted by the Commercial Crime Investigation Department of the state contingent and the Kota Baru district, was held from July 17 to 22. He added that the two separate raids around Kota Baru led to the arrest of five suspects, aged between 25 and 39, believed to be involved in criminal intimidation and vandalism linked to unlicensed moneylending activities. "The suspects are believed to have carried out acts such as splashing red paint on victims' houses, pasting threatening notes, smashing windows with stones and locking the victims' gates as a form of harassment and pressure," he said. Mohd Yusoff said the first suspect was nabbed on July 23 during a raid in Pasir Tumboh near Kubang Kerian. "This was followed by the arrest of four more suspects on July 25 in connection with a paint-splashing incident in Pasir Hor," he added. During the operations, he said police have seized 34 items and they included red paint, pens, threat notes, clothing, face masks, mobile phones, and motorcycles believed to have been used in the crimes. "Early investigations revealed that the suspects were linked to at least nine cases of criminal damage across Kota Baru, Tumpat and Tanah Merah districts," he said. The case is being investigated under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951 and Sections 427 and 506 of the Penal Code for mischief and criminal intimidation. "All five suspects have been remanded to assist in further investigations," he added. Mohd Yusoff advised the public not to seek loans through unlicensed sources, including those offered on social media and unverified applications. He urged borrowers to verify lenders through official channels and conduct financial transactions only with licensed institutions. He also reminded the public not to accept payments for carrying out red paint attacks or other intimidation acts, as even being hired for such activities constitutes a criminal offence. "The police will not compromise with anyone who attempts to instil fear in the public for personal gain. "Any suspicious activity should be reported to the nearest police station or through our official channels," he added.

Cops nab suspected robber of female food deliverers
JERTIH: Police have successfully solved three robbery cases that occurred in several villages in the Besut district after arresting a man in a raid in Kampung Gong Medang here on Monday (July 21). Besut district police chief Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu said the 32-year-old suspect, who was suspected of being involved in knife-wielding robberies since last month, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Besut police headquarters. "The suspect was arrested following three robberies involving three female victims, all of whom were food deliverers between June 24 and July 20. "The suspect's modus operandi was to identify female vendors who provided delivery service and would give addresses at unoccupied houses in remote areas in Kampung Gong Medang and Kampung Tembila," he told a press conference here on Sunday. Azamuddin said when the victim arrived at the given location, the suspect would approach the victim's car and brandish a knife before robbing the victim's jewellery. He added, the suspect managed to rob the jewellery belonging to the first and second victims, involving an estimated loss of RM30,000 and RM200 in cash. "However, the suspect failed to rob the third victim because the victim resisted, causing the victim to suffer injuries to both hands," he said. Azamuddin said following the arrest, the police also managed to seize two melted gold bars weighing 82.26gm believed to belong to two victims, a Honda City and two mobile phones belonging to the suspect. He added that checks found that the suspect had a criminal record related to robbery and tested negative for drugs.
