DALLAS - The idea of the San Antonio Spurs moving Heaven and Earth.to bring Cooper Flagg to the Alamo City to team with Victor Wembanyama?

It makes all the sense … on Heaven and on Earth … for the Spurs.
But ESPN's NBA Draft-time push for the No. 1 overall pick, Duke superstar Flagg, to be moved by Dallas read then and reads now like some odd combination of naïveté and trolling.
ESPN's insiders thought such a swap would be of great benefit to the Spurs … and they are darn right about that..
But they left out any Mavs-related logic.
The theoretically compelling offer to the Mavericks?
ESPN's Zach Kram suggested that the Mavs receive the Spurs' Nos. 2 and 14 overall picks in the draft, as well as the Atlanta Hawks' 2027 first-rounder, and their 2030 first-round pick swap rights,

So … multiple picks to lose a generational talent?
Forget Cooper Flagg; didn't Dallas GM Nico Harrison just do that with the disastrous trade of Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers? (But minus the multiple picks, of course.)
Can you imagine the controversial spit-storm that would ensue if Nico did it all over again and after losing Doncic also lost Flagg?
ESPN offered up details of other NBA trades over the years that compared to this trade suggestion … but they were missing the point.
This isn't Fantasy Basketball. In real life, no matter what would've been good for the Spurs, Nico's Mavs not only wouldn't trade Cooper Flagg …

A hearing in the civil lawsuit against Shannon Sharpe is set for July 9
The days preceding the draft were dominated by news of a sexual assault lawsuit that had been filed against Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe. An ill-advised P.R. blitz, which included his lawyer, Lanny Davis, that Sharpe had offered at least $10 million to settle the case, fueled the coverage for multiple days. Then, things died down. Now, more than two months after the case was filed against Sharpe, he has not responded to the civil complaint. In most jurisdictions, a response is due within 30 days after service. Extensions are commonly granted among lawyers as a courtesy. The electronic database for the Clark County, Nevada civil court system shows various filings regarding the lawyer(s) who will be associated with the case. A hearing on three different motions to associate counsel is set for July 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. local time. The hearing originally had been set for June 30. Davis said in a press conference held two days after the filing of the case that Sharpe will file a counterclaim against the plaintiff. For now, though, there has been no formal response by Sharpe to the civil complaint. Less than a week after the case was filed, Sharpe stepped away from his employment with ESPN until the start of the NFL preseason. With the preseason looming (the Hall of Fame game happens on July 31) and the case still in its infancy, it remains to be seen whether Sharpe will indeed return by the end of the month.

Insider provides update to ‘complicated' T.J. Watt, Steelers contract talks
T.J. Watt's contract situation with the Steelers continues to dominate the NFL world. On Saturday's SportsCenter, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler provided some insight on potential holdups to Watt's contract negotiations, as well as an update from an unnamed Steelers source: "Well, people I've talked to around the league believe it's guaranteed money, it's term length," Fowler said. "A lot of the details, they get sticky this time of year, especially as you're leading up to training camp. I talked to somebody with the team who said, 'Look, these are complicated deals to do, but we are working on it. We want T.J. Watt here.' There's not a lot of traction right now as far as a potential trade — although there would certainly be a lot of interest if the Steelers would tap into that. "This is a situation where [Watt] is probably going to be the highest-paid edge rusher in the league when this is all said and done. It just depends on when the Steelers can do it. Typically, they like to do their deals either around training camp or leading into Week 1. So, this is far from over." Insiders have agreed that Watt could reset the market, potentially even becoming the NFL's highest-paid non-QB — but Adam Schefter believes outside trade interest will only ramp up after the recent arrivals of Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith.
