Kristen Stewart to Headline Dylan Meyer's "The Wrong Girls" for Neon
Kristen Stewart will topline "The Wrong Girls", a new Neon film marking the directorial debut of Dylan Meyer, which is up and running in Los Angeles — one of the first indies to kick off production following the devastating wildfires.
Others in the cast include Alia Shawkat, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, LaKeith Stanfield, Zack Fox, and Tony Hale.
Written and directed by Meyer, "The Wrong Girls" follows Frankie (Stewart) and Molly (Shawkat), codependent best friends living paycheck to paycheck and a bong rip to bong rip, when a case of mistaken identity throws their lives into chaos.
Neon will release the film in U.S. theaters and also reps international rights.
"The Wrong Girls" will be produced by Maggie McLean, Stewart and Meyer for Nevermind Pictures; Alex McAtee, James Weaver, Rogen and Evan Goldberg for Point Grey; and Allison Carter and Jon Read for Savage Rose Productions under their production and development partnership with Neon.
Overseeing for Neon will be Jason Wald, EVP Acquisitions & Production, Claire Timmons, VP Talent Relations, and Kate Gondwe, Manager ADP. The deal was negotiated with WME Independent and UTA Independent Film Group.
"The Wrong Girls" marks the third collaboration between Stewart and Neon following Pablo Larraín's "Spencer" — which brought the actress her first Oscar nomination for her turn as Princess Diana — and David Cronenberg's Cannes selection "Crimes of the Future".
Stewart is coming off of rave reviews for her turn in Rose Glass' "Love Lies Bleeding" and wrapping production on her feature directorial debut, "The Chronology of Water".
She will next be seen in Michael Angarano's road trip comedy "Sacramento", out April 11, and in Panos Cosmatos' vampire pic "Flesh of the Gods" opposite Oscar Isaac, as well as making her TV debut in Amazon MGM's limited series "The Challenger," playing astronaut and physicist Sally Ride.

The studio was eager to continue doing business with LuckyChap following the success of the Oscar-winning 'Barbie' — the highest-grossing movie of 2023 with $1.45 billion globally, as well as the biggest film in the studio's 100-year history — and signed the company to a multi-year, first-look feature film deal to collaborate on future projects. Robbie, a three-time Oscar nominee, next stars in WB's 'Wuthering Heights,' Emerald Fennell's adaptation of Emily Brontë's classic, which hits theaters next February, and LuckyChap is also developing an 'Ocean's Eleven' movie at the studio, with 'Twisters' director Lee Isaac Chung in talks to direct. Likewise, in 2024, the studio enjoyed big success with Burton's 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,' the long-awaited sequel to his 1988 classic 'Beetlejuice.' "Zootopia 2" Unveils Trailer
Yara Sameh Disney has dropped the official trailer for "Zootopia 2," the highly anticipated animated sequel to its Oscar-winning 2016 hit. The footage features Quinta Brunson as the voice of a quokka therapist, Dr. Fuzzby, who leads a group therapy session for dysfunctional police partners. Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) attend the session just one week after officially becoming partners. Judy insists their being there is a misunderstanding, but Dr. Fuzzby isn't buying it. The second half of the trailer lays out the sequel's plot, which involves Judy and Nick being handed an important assignment involving a snake that has arrived in Zootopia — even though, according to Nick, no snake has set foot in the city "in forever." In the movie, Judy and Nick's partnership is put to the "ultimate test when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a mystery tied to the arrival of a venomous snake in the animal metropolis," Disney's plot synopsis reads. Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan has joined the sequel's cast as Gary De'Snake, while returning stars include Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, Nate Torrence as Clawhauser, Jenny Slate as Bellwether, Alan Tudyk as Duke Weaselton, Tommy Chong as Yax, and Shakira as pop star Gazelle. The original "Zootopia," set in a city where various species of anthropomorphic animals live together, is one of Disney's biggest hit animated movies of the past decade. It grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office and won the Academy Award for best animated film. "Zootopia 2" will be Disney's latest animated sequel, hoping to make a splash around the Thanksgiving holiday. It will hit theaters on November 26, 2025. In 2023, "Moana 2" set a record for the biggest Thanksgiving weekend box office opening of all time and went on to sail past the $1 billion mark at the global box office. "Zootopia 2" should allow Disney to bounce back from the failure of its original animated film "Elio," which disappointed at the box office in June with the lowest opening weekend in Pixar history domestically. "Hostel" TV Series Finds Streaming Home
Yara Sameh The 'Hostel' TV series has found a home at Peacock. The TV extension of the horror film franchise is currently in development at the NBCUniversal streamer. The reimagining was previously reported to be in the works in June 2024, but no platform was attached at that time. As originally reported, Paul Giamatti is attached to star in the series, with 'Hostel' mastermind Eli Roth set to write, direct, and executive produce. Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who have produced all the 'Hostel' films, are also executive producers. Fifth Season is the studio. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps. In the 'Hostel' franchise, innocent tourists are kidnapped by a mysterious group known as the Elite Hunting Club operating out of Eastern Europe, with the group's rich clientele paying to torture and murder the tourists. The first film was released in theaters in 2006, with Roth writing, directing, and producing. Roth also wrote, directed, and produced 'Hostel: Part II' in 2007. A third film was released direct to video in 2011, though Roth was not involved in the production. Collectively, the first two films in the franchise grossed nearly $120 million globally despite costing just $4.8 million and $10.2 million respectively to produce. Giamatti is one of the finest actors of his generation. He is a two-time Oscar nominee — first for 'Cinderella Man' and then for 'The Holdovers.' He is also a six-time Golden Globe nominee, winning the award for his work in the HBO series 'John Adams' as well as for the films 'Barney's Vision' and 'The Holdovers.'
