China's move to withdraw over 300 engineers from Foxconn 's iPhone manufacturing facilities in India has raised concerns over its impact on Apple 's production plans and India's manufacturing goals. The engineers, who were working at Tamil Nadu and Karnataka plants, played a key role in preparing for the next-generation iPhone 17.The recall of Chinese technicians is expected to disrupt ongoing training and delay the rollout of high-end manufacturing processes. Foxconn had heavily depended on these experts to guide local teams. While the company is now trying to fill the gap with Taiwanese and Vietnamese specialists and is training Indian workers, operations may still slow down.Commodities investor Surya Kanegaonkar, commenting on the development, said this was part of China's strategy to maintain dominance in Asia.'This comes as no surprise,' Kanegaonkar wrote on X. 'India is seen as a flailing adversary, struggling to get off the ground.'He said the exit of Chinese engineers should be viewed as a calculated attempt to block the transfer of technical know-how and hinder India's growth in electronics manufacturing.Kanegaonkar warned that India's reliance on Chinese supply chains remains a serious risk. He said the country still depends on China for machine tools, rare earth materials, and electronic components.'India attempting to industrialise while being entirely dependent on Chinese machine tools, rare earths and electronics components is absurd. Every part of the supply chain should have been studied and fixed yesterday,' he said.China's action is likely a part of a broader push to discourage companies from moving manufacturing out of China. Verbal orders to stop export of machines, talent, and components have also been reported. The message to multinationals is clear, relocating operations to India may come at a cost. India now manufactures nearly 20% of all iPhones. Apple plans to source a majority of its U.S.-bound iPhones from India by 2026. However, such moves by China could slow that progress.Kanegaonkar also criticized Indian policymakers for not preparing adequately for such situations.'Lack of foresight and will to reform from within continue to hobble New Delhi's plans… Endless diplomacy comes to nought in the face of an adversary's leverage and hard power,' he said.'Being shown one's place as a state dependent on the largesse of friends and foes alike should warrant introspection and urgent reform,' he added. The exodus comes as a major disruption to Apple's India expansion strategy, particularly as Foxconn constructs a new iPhone assembly facility in the region. While product quality may remain unaffected, assembly line efficiency could suffer during the critical ramp-up period for next-generation iPhone production.Beijing officials have quietly pressured regulatory agencies and local governments to restrict technology transfers and skilled labor exports to India and Southeast Asia, Bloomberg News reported. This coordinated effort aims to prevent Chinese companies from relocating manufacturing capabilities to competing nations amid escalating US-China trade tensions. The strategy extends beyond personnel, encompassing specialised equipment and technical know-how essential for high-tech manufacturing. China's actions come as countries like India and Vietnam aggressively court global technology companies seeking to diversify their supply chains away from Chinese dependence.

OPPO Reno 14 series launched. Vivo X Fold5 and X200 FE to launch on July 14. Google Pixel 6a battery overheating. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. Apple's iOS 26. Honor Magic V5. Nothing Phone 3 BS Tech New Delhi OPPO has unveiled its Reno 14 series in India, which includes the Reno 14 and Reno 14 Pro models. Both phones come equipped with MediaTek Dimensity chipsets and highlight AI-centric functionalities, along with a 50MP main camera. Additionally, the Pad SE tablet has been introduced alongside the new phones, starting at Rs 13,999. Vivo has announced that it will release two new smartphones in India on July 14—the X Fold 5 and the X200 FE. These devices represent the brand's latest book-style foldable and the first 'FE' version in its X-series lineup. Both feature camera systems developed in collaboration with German optics firm Zeiss. Beginning July 8, Google will roll out an Android 16 update for all Pixel 6a users to address concerns related to battery overheating. As per an update on the Pixel support page, units affected by this issue will experience reduced battery life and slower charging speeds following the mandatory patch. Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for July 9, where the company is expected to introduce its latest foldable phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung was the pioneer in bringing foldable smartphones to Indian consumers in 2019. Although the original device didn't carry the 'Galaxy Z' label, it set the stage for the Galaxy Z Fold series. A new privacy feature in Apple's iOS 26 beta will reportedly enable FaceTime to freeze video calls if nudity is detected. As noted by 9to5Mac, this tool is part of Apple's Communication Safety suite and is intended to help filter out inappropriate visuals during video calls. Honor has debuted the Magic V5 foldable smartphone in China, touting it as the slimmest foldable device currently available. The phone measures 8.8mm when folded and just 4.1mm when unfolded, though these dimensions apply only to the Warm White variant. Other color options, including Black, Ivory White, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown, measure 9mm when folded. During the launch event for Phone 3 and Headphone 1, Nothing CEO Carl Pei hinted at the arrival of Nothing OS 4.0, which is based on Android 16. He said the update is expected to roll out in autumn, likely between September and November. Vivo is preparing to bring its X200 FE to the Indian market. While the official launch date remains unconfirmed, the company has disclosed major specs, including the MediaTek D9300+ processor, camera configuration, and battery size. Already released in places like Taiwan, the device will join Vivo's X200 and X200 Pro flagships. An Ultra variant is also available but remains exclusive to China. In an unexpected move, Rockstar Games has released a new update for Red Dead Online, adding four fresh missions. This came as a surprise after the developer had previously indicated back in 2022 that major updates for the game were unlikely, as its focus shifted toward developing Grand Theft Auto 6. The announcement was made via a blog post on July 1. Apple has already rolled out a variety of new products in 2025, such as the iPhone 16e, M4 MacBook Air, revamped Mac Studio, and updated iPads. However, its roadmap for the year is still extensive, with upcoming releases including the iPhone 17 lineup, Macs and iPads powered by M5 chips, and new Apple Watches and AirPods. CERT-In has issued a critical alert for users of Bluetooth-enabled audio devices such as TWS earbuds, headphones, and speakers. The advisory warns that devices using Airoha SoCs are vulnerable to hacking. This flaw could let attackers listen to nearby conversations, control calls, view call logs and contact details, or potentially gain full access to the device. The Reno 14 Pro from OPPO impresses with a sleek build, high-resolution screen, and flexible camera setup. It particularly excels in content creation thanks to 4K video capture, telephoto zoom, and built-in editing capabilities. A spacious screen and solid battery life further add to the experience. That said, it isn't optimized for heavy gaming, and the lack of expandable storage may be a drawback for users handling large 4K files. Nonetheless, it's a great option for visual content creators who prioritize design and performance. Nvidia set to become the world's most valuable company in history
Nvidia was on track to become the most valuable company in history on Thursday, with the chipmaker's market capitalization reaching $3.92 trillion as Wall Street doubled down on optimism about AI. Shares of the leading designer of high-end AI chips were up 2.2 per cent at $160.6 in morning trading, giving the company a higher market capitalization than Apple's record closing value of $3.915 trillion on December 26, 2024. Nvidia's newest chips have made gains in training the largest artificial-intelligence models, fueling demand for products by the Santa Clara, California, tech company. Microsoft is currently the second-most valuable company on Wall Street, with a market capitalization of $3.7 trillion as its shares rose 1.4 per cent on $498. Apple rose 0.5 per cent, giving it a stock market value of $3.19 trillion, in third place. A race among Microsoft, Meta Platforms , Alphabet and Tesla to build AI datacenters and dominate the emerging technology has fueled insatiable demand for Nvidia's high-end processors. The stock market value of Nvidia, whose core technology was developed to power video games, has nearly octupled over the past four years from $500 billion in 2021. Nvidia is now worth more than the combined value of the Canadian and Mexican stock markets, according to LSEG data. The tech company also exceeds the total value of all publicly listed companies in the United Kingdom. Nvidia recently traded at about 32 times analysts' expected earnings for the next 12 months, below its average of about 41 over the past five years, according to LSEG data. That relatively modest price-to-earnings valuation reflects steadily increasing earnings estimates that have outpaced Nvidia's sizable stock gains. The company's stock has now rebounded more than 68 per cent from its recent closing low on April 4, when Wall Street was reeling from President Donald Trump's global tariff announcements. U.S. stocks, including Nvidia, have recovered on expectations that the White House will cement trade deals to soften Trump's tariffs.
