Episode 2 of Good Boy continues with the star athletes dueling gangsters and thugs. Ultimately, Dong-ju manages to counter the entire gang at the warehouse, defeating the Golden Bunny as well. At the same time, Man-sik arrives at the location with backup, and they arrest the gang, making Dong-ju an instant hero thanks to his triumph over the Golden Bunny.
Meanwhile, Han-na shoots most of her attackers, and Jong-hyun arrives at her house to find them on the floor, hit with paintballs.
At the station, the entire athlete squad quickly becomes a sensation. That night, while heading home, Dong-ju meets his brother. It's clear his brother is suffering from the effects of drug use, and Dong-ju urges him to undergo a surgery that could help. However, his brother disappears in the middle of the night, which Dong-ju suspects is the doing of his former coach, the man who got his brother addicted in the first place.
The next day, sensing an opportunity to ride their success, Man-sik convinces the commissioner to form a special unit of pro athletes to solve criminal cases. Surprisingly, they're given their own cabin, and the team is thrilled to finally work in the field, all except Jong-hyun.
While questioning the Golden Bunny, Dong-ju notices the golden watch on his wrist, the same one worn by the hit-and-run culprit. Before they can interrogate him further, they discover that the commissioner formed the special unit more as a PR stunt than an actual investigative team. The athletes soon find themselves at a public event where the commissioner promotes a new line of bulletproof and knife-proof jackets. He infantilizes Han-na, making her demonstrate by shooting at dummies, until she turns and shoots directly at the commissioner out of frustration, fracturing one of his ribs. She resigns soon after.
Trying to protect Han-na, Jong-hyun suggests that the commissioner spin the incident as a staged stunt. The commissioner agrees.
The next day, with Han-na absent, Man-sik receives a tip about the people who took the documents. He heads out with Dong-ju and Jae-hong and meets Jong-hyun there, who also received a lead. However, things go sideways when Man-sik, having eaten a drugged candy, becomes intoxicated and accidentally alerts the gangsters. What follows is a hilarious chase, with Man-sik acting like a zombie and scaring the thugs away.
During the chaos, Jong-hyun battles one of the thugs for the documents but suffers a panic attack triggered by a past incident during his fencing match. Just as the thug is about to stab Jong-hyun, Man-sik steps in under the influence and takes the hit.
Eventually, the man escapes with the documents, and Dong-ju rushes Man-sik to the hospital, pushing him in a shopping cart for 30 minutes due to a traffic jam.
Elsewhere, a man tortures Dong-ju's brother, Gyeong-il, into confessing to the hit-and-run crime. We also learn that Dong-ju's former coach is involved in the case.
The next day, when Dong-ju returns to the office, he sees Gyeong-il being arrested. Gyeong-il has confessed. Dong-ju keeps this from their mother. He then attends the funeral of the hit-and-run victim and spots someone wearing the same watch he saw on the driver of the hit-and -run case. He takes the list of visitors and checks each one in the customs department, where the victim used to work, until he identifies Min Ju-yeong as the real culprit behind the hit-and-run, the man who forced Gyeong-il to take the fall.
The Episode Review
The latest episode of Good Boy raises the stakes by introducing Gyeong-il and making him Ju-yeong's scapegoat. The show clearly defines its protagonists and antagonists, making it easy for viewers to empathize with Dong-ju. Beyond that, the series continues to build on the characters' personalities, traumas, and pasts, adding a compelling layer to this action-comedy.
One of the most enjoyable sequences is the hilarious chaos that follows Man-sik's drug-induced hallucinations. With nods to K-dramas like Sweet Home and Happiness, the scene delivers sharp comedic relief. Such carefully constructed and directed slapstick moments are among Good Boy's strengths. Along with its tight direction and thrilling action, the show leaves us eager to see where the story goes next.
