Syd. Is. Back.
The genre-blurring singer, songwriter, and producer just released her first solo track in three years, 'Die For This,' a delicate preview of her upcoming EP. The song premiered on a Monday, July 7th, as BBC Radio 1's 'Hottest Record in the World'. The record is out now on all streaming platforms.
Best known as the lead singer of The Internet and original member of the underrated rap group Odd Future, Syd delivers her signature softness on this new track. 'Die For This' finds her pledging devotion in the kind of stripped-down, late-night R&B that has become her calling.

It's a strong return for Syd, who hasn't dropped any new solo material since 2022's Broken Hearts Club . That same year, she reflected on her growth as a vocalist and songwriter, saying:
'I've always thought I have a cool voice, a pretty voice. But singing was the last thing I started doing… I'm just now starting to feel like, 'Okay, yeah, I do this.''
Since her last album, Syd has remained in creative motion. She co-wrote Beyoncé's Renaissance cut 'Plastic Off the Sofa,' earning a Grammy win for Best Traditional R&B Performance.
This summer, Syd will support Billie Eilish on her U.K. tour, then join Reneé Rapp for a run of U.S. dates in the fall.

D.L. Hughley Rips 'Morally Bankrupt' Fans For Celebrating Diddy Verdict

Source: Michael S. Schwartz / Getty The moment Sean 'Diddy' Combs was found not guilty on the most serious charges in his sex trafficking and racketeering trial, we all should have expected social media to become an annoying place. We should have known the 'Free Tory' segment of the Black manosphere , as well as the same Black people who are still caping for R. Kelly and Bill Cosby, would erupt in celebration over what they consider vindication for the disgraced Bad Boy mogul. (I'm looking at you, Ray J and Boosie Badazz.) This is why it's gratifying to hear at least one Black male celebrity speak out against celebrations of the Diddy verdict. During a recent sit-down with TMZ, comedian D.L. Hughley expressed that while he doesn't believe Combs was guilty of everything he was charged with, people should be celebrating justice — if they truly think justice is what happened here — not the verdict itself. Hughley appears to be of the opinion that Diddy was overcharged, but he also acknowledged that the trial revealed 'stuff that is amoral.' 'I think that it's clear that Puffy wasn't charged for the things he did. He was charged in this vague, amorphous…the judge even during the trial, you could see he was having a hard time buying it,' Hughley explained. 'I think it shows two things: money will buy a great defense. I think if he's charged and he has a public defender, he's convicted.' 'They didn't charge him for domestic abuse. They charged him for all of these terms that they just couldn't prove,' he continued. As for the people who are celebrating Diddy's victory in court, Hughley didn't bother mincing words in explaining, essentially, that those people are trash. 'I think there are people who are morally bankrupt. I say that all the time,' he said. 'Even if Puffy wasn't convicted of the most serious [crimes], he still whooped a woman in front of everybody,' Hughley continued. 'Now he wasn't charged for that, and the feds wouldn't charge him for that. Obviously, the feds wouldn't be involved in something like that. But it speaks to who we are as a society. Even if he's not guilty of the crimes charged, he is a horrible dude. I can root for a man to get justice, that's different than celebrating this verdict. They're two different things.' Look, D.L. Hughley is not a legal expert — nor are most of the people who were in the streets acting like the ghost of Nelson Mandela was just freed from prison — but he seems to understand basic humanity perfectly well. So, there's that. See social media's reaction to the verdict below. SEE ALSO D.L. Hughley Rips 'Morally Bankrupt' Fans For Celebrating Diddy Verdict was originally published on

Charles Oakley Says He Was Joking About Being Drugged Before Marrying Angela

Source: Marcus Ingram / Getty Charles Oakley recently caused a stir with a surprising comment about his marriage to wife Angela Oakley. The moment sparked plenty of buzz online, with some fans unsure if he was serious or just being playful. Text 'RICKEY' to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news. ( Terms and conditions ). Now, Oakley is setting the record straight. According to him, it was all a joke — and not meant to be taken so seriously. 'I was just trying to be funny,' he said, downplaying the comment. Angela, who was right there with him during the livestream, didn't seem upset at all. In fact, she laughed it off, and the two shared a fun story about their spontaneous Las Vegas wedding. LIKE US ON FACEBOOK. FOLLOW US ON TWITTER AND INSTAGRAM. SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE. The couple also teased a new project they're working on together, hinting that despite the internet chatter, they're still solid and enjoying life as a team. Charles and Angela have been together for years and have kept most of their relationship out of the spotlight. Over time, though, fans have seen glimpses of their dynamic — Angela often showing up to support Charles at public events, and Charles speaking with admiration and humor about their life together. Their bond has clearly stood the test of time, even with Charles's tough-guy reputation and media attention that often surrounds him. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD OUR APP AND TAKE US WITH YOU ANYWHERE! Still, some people didn't find the joke funny. Critics called it inappropriate and said suggesting someone was drugged into marriage, even as a joke, wasn't a good look. Others saw it as just another example of Charles's blunt, no-filter sense of humor that doesn't always land well with everyone. She appeared relaxed and happy during the stream, even throwing in her own jokes and smiling through the conversation. If anything, she reminded fans why the two have lasted so long — she knows how to roll with Charles's personality and keep things light. Despite the backlash, Charles and Angela seem to be doing just fine. For them, it was a moment of humor that may have missed the mark but didn't shake their connection. NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Saturday, July 12

Connections hints and answers are here. GETTY Looking for Friday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here: Forbes NYT 'Connections' Hints For Friday, July 11: Today's Clues And Answers By Kris Holt It is time to begin your weekend joust with Connections, a puzzle that is on the harder side today, with a few twists and turns the NYT through in. Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here. The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there. There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together. You pick the four words you think are linked and either you will get a solve and a lit up row that shows you how you were connected. If you're close, it will tell you that you're one away. Again, four mistakes you lose, but if you want to know the answers without failing, either come here, or delete your web cookies and try again. If you want to play more puzzles, you can get an NYT Games subscription to access the full archives of all past puzzles. So, onto the hints and answers: These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers. PERIOD UNIFORM CHAMPION MINUTE VICTOR SECOND ECHO DAY ELABORATE AGE BACK SUPPORT PARTICULAR KILO TIME THOROUGH The hints for the Connections groups today are: Yellow Group - Vote of confidence Green Group - Examine closely Blue Group - Not on a clock Purple Group - Radio chat What Are Today's Connections Groups? Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today: Yellow Group - Endorse Green Group - Detailed Blue Group - Era Purple Group - In the NATO Alphabet The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are: Yellow Group - Endorse (BACK, CHAMPION, SECOND, SUPPORT) Green Group - Detailed (ELABORATE, MINUTE, PARTICUPLAR, THOROUGH) Blue Group - Era (AGE, DAY, PERIOD, TIME) Purple Group - In the NATO Alphabet (ECHO, KILO, UNIFORM, VICTOR) Connections NYT For yellow group, we had the double meaning for 'second' in play, given that you might imagine that goes with minute, day and so on. It's political season so maybe you were able to get the 'endorse' concept, but this wasn't the hardest on the list, certainly. Green group once again took one of those time words, minute, and used the other meaning and pronunciation. The other three did come together rather easily though, so you could find and pull minute with enough critical thinking. Alright, this is where things get hard because there actually was a time category here, but it just didn't involve second or minute, which could have resulted in a lot of lost guesses. These are 'eras' of time, including the word time itself. But it's more literary like 'in the age of,' 'in the time of," 'in the day of," or a period of time. Tough! Purple group makes sense if you know this alphabet well, but it may be tricky otherwise. I knew three of these but I guess I didn't know that the callsign for U was uniform. So even just missing one of those was enough to potentially tank the category. I'll be honesty, I tanked the category. I hope you did better than me.
