Celtic told Isak Jansson transfer rules as Rapid Vienna reveal the bid that has already been rejected
Celtic are keen on adding Rapid Vienna winger Isak Jansson this summer as a replacement for Nicolas Kuhn.
The Scottish Premiership champions may have to spend big to bring the winger to Celtic Park after Rapid Vienna sports director Markus Katzer lifted the lid on bids that have already been turf out.
Kuhn's exit is set to bank £17.2million for Celtic when he joins Como just 18 months after he left the Austrian Bundesliga side for Glasgow's east end - with Brendan Rodgers keen to see the money reinvested in the squad.
The Hoops are looking to replicate the success of the £3million recruit by returning to Vienna with Jansson on the shopping list.
The 23-year-old joined the club for £200,000 from Spanish Second Division side Cartagena last summer to full the gap left by Kuhn.
And Katzer has revealed why they chose Jansson as a direct replacement for the German wide man - and interest that has already been turned down during his short time at the club.
He said last month: "We needed a replacement for Nicolas Kuhn after he signed for Celtic.
"We asked our manager what type of player he was looking for in particular and he told us he wanted someone who could beat a man, one-on-one.
"We did a wide data search across our target markets and in terms of dribbling and taking on players, Jansson appeared in the top three.
"We looked at a lot of his videos and he was exactly what we wanted.
"Usually, we would watch a player live, but with the timescale and the closing of the transfer window, we had no time and had to trust the data.
"The risk was relatively low because we also know that in eight to nine out of ten cases, the impressions from video scouting are confirmed during live scouting.
"And with Jansson, it wasn't a risk at all because we first agreed on a free loan first and then a small transfer fee of £200,000.
"One week after we exercised the purchase option in the season, we had an offer of more than £1 million on the table.
"He will clearly be transferred for many times what we paid for him. He has been an amazing success for us."

"You need to get a bit of sweat on and try and get back in there. "I was on the treadmills and pitches, but then you get the feet up as well, so it's nice." McCowan has admitted he's been left gutted by the exit of close pal Greg Taylor who has joined Greek outfit PAOK. They would regularly hang out at each other's homes — with the Hoops ace revealing he failed in his attempts to keep the left-back at Celts. McCowan said: "There's an empty space in the changing room — and an empty space in my living room! "We were always round each other's houses. "The two of us are the exact same, and it's sad as we both would have loved to play beside each other longer. 5 "But where Greg's career's taken him is a credit to himself, he's a really amazing person. "His family has been over with him as well, and I'm sure they will have a fantastic lifestyle there. "Greece will be a nice place to visit on holiday at some point, so I'm sure I will. "I tried to convince Greg to stay, of course I did. "But football is always moving and always changing. "He'll go on to that challenge with an open mind, and I'm sure he'll do great there."
