Prem Chauhan and Punardeep Singh Sawhney were the members of the standing committee from the Wards Committee South Zone and the Wards Committee City-SP Zone, respectively.

In a high-level strategy meeting held on Friday, senior AAP leader and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the MCD House Ankush Narang met with all party councillors to start the preparations.
Former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia reviewed ward-level issues in detail and directed councillors to ensure immediate redressing.

PCA elections: Mohali MLA files nomination for secretary post
In a first, two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh and Advisor to Punjab Heritage and Tourism Board Deepak Bali have filed their nominations for the post of secretary and vice-president respectively for the Punjab Cricket Association's (PCA's) upcoming elections later this month. In a notification posted on the PCA website after the first day of filing of nominations, both the AAP leaders' names featured for the nomination of the post of secretary and vice-president of the association. Reigning PCA president Amarjit Singh Mehta, whose son Padamjit Mehta is also an AAP leader, has filed his nomination for the post of PCA president. Sunil Gupta, who is a reigning treasurer of the association and is currently vice-chairman of the Punjab Economic Policy and Planning Board, with the rank and status of Cabinet minister, too has filed his nomination as PCA treasurer again. 'Yes, I have filed the nomination for the post of PCA secretary today. I took the decision to fight for the elections and hence I decided to file the nomination for the post of PCA secretary. I thought that I should file the nomination this time and I hope to get the support of PCA members for this election,' the Mohali MLA told The Indian Express. While Friday is the second day for the nominations for the PCA elections, which are held after every three years, it remains to be seen if any other nominations are filed for the five posts of the office bearers of the PCA. Kulwant is currently Punjab's richest legislator with assets reportedly worth around Rs 1,000 crore. His political journey began in 1995 when he represented ward number 21 in the Mohali Municipal Council elections and served as senior vice-president of the council. The Mohali MLA, a former mayor of Mohali, had fought the Lok Sabha elections from Fatehgarh Sahib as an SAD-BJP candidate in 2014, but lost. In March, 2022, he won from the SAS Nagar constituency in Punjab Assembly elections on an AAP ticket and defeated Congress leader Balbir Singh Sidhu by 34,097 votes. Bali, 53, who is also the general secretary of the AAP's Punjab unit, on the other hand, was appointed as Advisor to Punjab Heritage and Tourism Board in December last year. 'We have all grown up watching and playing cricket and I hope to work for the development of the sport in Punjab if elected,' Bali told The Indian Express. Last month, Dilsher Khanna resigned from the post of PCA secretary. Khanna, 33, an alumnus of Doon School and Delhi University and also a certified pilot, was elected as PCA secretary in 2022 with former cricketer Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal being elected as PCA president in the association's Annual General Meeting. Chahal had resigned four months after his election with reports of irregularities during his term coming to fore with former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh too accusing him of being involved. Mehta was elected as PCA's new president in February 2023. As per BCCI constitution in line with the Supreme Court ruling, there is a nine-year tenure limit for any officer bearer, which can be served either entirely at state association, BCCI level or a combination of both. There is also a ruling of serving a three-year cooling off period after two consecutive terms of three-year each. Maharashtra rolls out round-the-clock sand transport, new measures to regulate mining
In a bid to curb illegal sand mining and ensure efficient transportation, the Maharashtra government on Thursday (July 3, 2025) announced that sand transportation will now be permitted round-the-clock across the State. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule informed the State Assembly that the move is aimed at enhancing transparency, streamlining logistics, and supporting housing beneficiaries under government welfare schemes. Until now, sand excavation was allowed only between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., while transportation was restricted to daytime hours. This often resulted in underutilisation of capacity and prompted illegal transport activities during the night. 'To address this, the MahaKhaniij portal will now generate Electronic Transport Permits (e-TPs) 24 hours a day,' Mr. Bawankule said, responding to a question raised by Congress MLA Nana Patole during Question Hour. Technological measures To bolster transparency and regulatory oversight, the government has introduced several digital monitoring mechanisms. All sand depots will be geo-fenced, CCTV cameras will be installed at mining sites and along transportation routes, and GPS devices will be mandatory in all sand-carrying vehicles. The Minister also announced that the State will soon implement a policy on manufactured sand (M-sand) to reduce pressure on natural sand reserves. Under the plan, each district will host 50 crusher units on five-acre plots, with the aim of operationalising 1,000 units in the next three months. Free sand In a key welfare measure, Mr. Bawankule said that five brass (a traditional unit of volume) of sand will be provided free of cost to each beneficiary under the Gharakul Yojana (government housing scheme). He added that although several sand mining sites have come under environmental restrictions since June 10 due to National Green Tribunal (NGT) directives, sand supply from locations not requiring clearance will continue uninterrupted. The government is also preparing a new policy to address the high cost of transporting sand to housing beneficiaries. With distances between sand mines and homes often ranging from 30 to 50 km, beneficiaries are currently incurring transport costs of ₹30,000 to ₹40,000. Mr. Bawankule said a new 'Home Delivery Sand Transport Policy' is being drafted with support from the Chief Minister and the Finance Department. 'Before the end of this session, I will present a detailed plan to ensure affordable sand access for housing beneficiaries,' he said. Public feedback The Minister pointed out that the State's new sand policy is already generating strong economic returns. 'In Chandrapur district, the first tender floated under the revised policy yielded ₹100 crore in royalty revenue. This demonstrates the policy's economic viability in addition to its regulatory benefits,' he said. Mr. Bawankule added that the policy was shaped after considering over 1,200 public suggestions and assured the Assembly that the government is open to further discussions on the matter.
