Irish tourist goes to EU airport and shows off 'major' difference Brits face
A holidaymaker has shared the airport perks those with an Irish passport get to experience after landing overseas compared to Brits. Comedian Peter Flanagan arrived in Malaga Airport and recorded himself filing through an empty queue at Brits waited for non-EU border control.
Taunting them as he waltzed through, he said: "The humble and brave country of Ireland. Look at that now, oh yeah, that's good, that's good." Britain officially left the EU in 2020 following the Brexit referendum in 2016. Since then, everyone with a British passport has been forced to queue up to enter a separate passport control queue before entering a country in the EU.
As part of the referendum result, Brits lost the right of free movement afforded to EU citizens.
Commenting on his TikTok video, one user said: "Yes, UK passport holders will be able to use e-gates in the EU, following an agreement between the UK and the EU, though implementation will be phased in starting in October 2025."
Another user added: "I showed my Irish passport to UK customs officer and he said at least you have a real passport!"
A third user said: "This is what we voted for. Some of us were educated and knew this kind of thing would happen and didn't vote for this."
One more user added: "We British people would rather spend an extra 10 minutes waiting for immigration than waste billions to support the EU bureaucracy."
It comes after anti-tourism protests broke out across Spain. For months, locals have been taking a stand against soaring rents and lack of affordable homes.
Protesters have even spray-painted heritage sites in their own countries with explicit messages to express their outrage, with some translating to "f***ing tourists" and "get out of our city."
One of the defaced buildings is the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, which dates back to the 14th century, and is the official residence of the King and Queen during their stays in Majorca. Together with the Cathedral of Palma, it is a landmark of the capital of the Balearic Islands.
Historic stone walls near the 'Hort del Rei botanical gardens and Dalt Murada, a restored manor house, have also been targeted.
The area is visited by thousands of tourists who say they are shocked by the messages, while some official tour guides have reiterated their fury.
Tour guide company Pro Guías Majorca said that the graffiti is regretful and an attack on Palma's heritage, making it clear that "there are many ways to protest, as long as the forms are appropriate, and it is an inalienable right. But this is unforgivable."
They say that the person "who has done this, is against himself and the values that constitute us as a community".
Residents who have grown used to repeated demonstrations and protest marches against mass tourism have also taken to the social networks to condemn the vandalism.
"I am against excess tourism but also against graffiti. One thing does not take away from the other," said one.
Another posted: "Now it turns out that Majorca's number one enemy is the tourist, without thinking that hundreds of thousands of people eat every day thanks to tourists. This should also be considered a hate crime."

I'm a TV critic and these are 3 Netflix series you can binge in one night
Any Netflix user can easily spend more time browsing through possible options than actually watching something. The offering is changing on a near daily basis, it can be difficult to know what to dedicate most of your binging time to. As a television critic, it's part of the job to have an answer to that question. So what about options that make the most of your time? A series that will get you hooked and able to binge watch, in just a single evening? The picks below imagine you settling down between 3 and 4pm, you'll probably be ordering food in, unless you're talented enough to binge on a second screen while cooking. We'll aim to have you rolling credits on the final episode in time for bed, although that could be a little after midnight. This does rule out many hit shows with multiple seasons, you'll definitely need more than one sitting for that and so they can wait a little longer. Nevertheless, here are my top three recommendations. A second season of Supacell is on the way (Image: Netflix) Supacell Seasons: 1 Episodes: 6 Approx. total runtime: 5 1/4 hours Supacell is about a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They have little in common except for one thing: they are all Black South Londoners. It is down to one man, Michael Lasaki, to bring them all together in order to save the woman he loves. While the storyline sets up a superhero story, there are touches of social commentary on real-world issues such as racial profiling, knife crime, and workplace inequality. Being a British made series, it comes in at a pacey six episodes. It boasts a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% score and was even nominated for a BAFTA in the Best Drama category. While there is only one season to catch up on right now, a second is reported to be on the way. There is no better time to make sure you're ready for when that lands. One fan said: "Excellent first season. Fascinating take on the superhero genre. Well written and well acted. Can't help but be drawn into the characters. Can't wait for season 2!" Supacell is streaming on Netflix. American Vandal Fans should at least binge the first season of American Vandal (Image: Netflix) Seasons: 2 Episodes: 16 Approx. total runtime: Season One: 4 3/4 hours Season Two: 4 1/2 hours While there are two seasons of American Vandal, most episodes only stretch to around 30 minutes. The exception is both finales last about 40 minutes total. This makes a one session binge significantly easier. Like Supacell, it also boasts a perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating. However, if you believe fans who shared their opinion of the series on Reddit, then it is only really the first season you need to catch up on. American Vandal is for those who believe they have watched every true crime documentary available on Netflix. It smartly subverts the genre to comedic effect. Utilising a mockumentary style, the first season follows the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left 27 cars belonging to staff vandalized with phallic images. Senior class clown Dylan Maxwell is blamed for the incident and expelled. An aspiring filmmaker and fellow student Peter Maldonado, launches his own investigation into the incident, with help from his friend Sam Ecklund. They are determined to uncover whether Dylan was the one truly behind the crime. The second season follows Peter and Sam as they investigate a new crime. They are essentially hired by a different school to make a follow up film after their cafeteria's lemonade is contaminated by someone calling themselves The Turd Burglar. One fan claimed: "This is the only series on Netflix that I have binged in the true sense of the word. The writing is superb, combining mystery and hilarity. Don't miss it." American Vandal is streaming on Netflix. Living With Yourself Fans say the 2018 title is the epitome of binge worthy (Image: Netflix) Seasons: 1 Episodes: 8 Approx. total runtime: 3 1/2 hours Most fans agree that this is a binge worthy limited series. It stars comedy favourites Paul Rudd and Aisling Bea and its premise could be an idea for a Black Mirror episode. However this story goes on for a manageable eight instalments. Miles, played by Rudd is a man struggling in life. When he undergoes a novel spa treatment that promises to make him a better person, he finds he's been replaced by a new and improved version of himself. As he deals with the unintended consequences of his actions, Miles finds he must fight for his wife Kate (Bea), his career, and his very identity. A fan posted about the show saying: "So perfectly binge worthy, and the only real way to watch it! Classic Paul Rudd- multi-faceted, multi-talented. Can't imagine anyone else in this combination sci-fi dramedy & thoughtful statement on science & society. Very well cast. Absolutely PERFECT ending!!" Living With Yourself is streaming on Netflix.

The Chase's Darragh Ennis challenges Harry Potter fans to ace 'impossible' quiz
Think you're a wizard at Harry Potter trivia? The Chase's very own Darragh Ennis, aka The Menace, has conjured up a quiz to put your fandom to the ultimate test. When he's not on ITV stumping contestants with his encyclopaedic knowledge, The Menace is dishing out challenges on TikTok for muggles and wizards alike. Recently, Dublin-native Darragh whipped up a batch of fiendishly difficult Harry Potter questions, claiming they'd be "impossible" to nail for all but the most devoted fans. Darragh's latest TikTok teaser throws down the gauntlet with five Potter-centric posers, each more bewitching than the last. He's thrown down the gauntlet, asserting that "most" won't crack all five, while allowing that hardcore "mega-fans" might just flaunt their magical prowess by smashing the challenge, reports the Mirror. The five questions Darragh posed are:. For the first question, Darragh said won't be accepting vague answers; he expects both the street name and house number for full marks He even slipped in a clue for the fourth question, reminding us that A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration pops up on Harry's first-year book list, something he would've snagged during his Diagon Alley spree with Hagrid. Think you've sussed out all five brain-teasers? Hold on if you're still mulling them over, because we're about to reveal the answers. Revealing the solutions in his latest video, Darragh shared: The Chase star highlighted that figuring out Emeric Switch as the correct response for the book author question was notably "tough" and tipped his hat to those who got it right. He further explained that Professor Snape's non-Hogwarts abode is on Spinners End, which he described as a particularly obscure detail. The reactions to the quiz were mixed among viewers, with some flexing their trivia muscles, claiming the challenge was "so easy", while others admitted defeat, finding themselves flummoxed by the trickier queries. One viewer boasted: "I got 4/5. Who remembers the authors of random textbooks?" Meanwhile, another proud Potterhead revealed: "Every time I reread the books, I make sure I know who wrote every one of Harry's set books, just in case they come up in trivia, and it finally did!".
