EastEnders favourite suffers two heart attacks in early BBC release

Metro11 hours ago

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episodes of EastEnders, which air from 7pm on BBC Two or can be streamed now on iPlayer.
Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe) has suffered not one, but two devastating physical setbacks.
It comes in the wake of her separation from husband George (Colin Salmon), who declared that he intended to fight for her half of The Queen Vic pub.
Her demeanour spiralled, making lavish purchases, showing a careless attitude to the running of the business and splashing out 5k to neighbour Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) so that she can go on a singles cruise.
She even handed alcohol to two of Albert Square's teens, which was later consumed by their younger peers.
Elaine was stunned last week when daughter Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) decided that she was going to call time on her Vic stint, and sell her 50% share.
Tensions continued to run high in the first of tonight's instalments, as the women continued to grapple with the bombshell news.
To make matters worse, the police arrived with an update on last week's situation. Elaine tried to remain in good humour, asserting that there were no youths on the premises.
Luckily, the women got off without any major repercussions for their license. They were told that no further action would be taken, but they would be subject to spot checks.
That didn't stop the bickering between mother and daughter, though. An emotional Linda stormed out and found comfort in George. Surprisingly, he told her that she should consider how her mum feels – but that's not how the conversation looked from Elaine's vantage point.
Believing that they were plotting against her, she kicked off and then collapsed into one of the seating booths.
Cue the doof doofs!
Luckily, due to Wimbledon, we didn't have long to wait to find out what had happened, as two episodes can be streamed back to back.

Elaine played off her health issues as a panic attack, but it quickly became apparent that something more sinister had happened.
With Linda and grandson Johnny (Charlie Suff) by her side, she poured her heart out, saying that she was fearful of what her life would look like if she was no longer a landlady. More Trending
Just as they thought she was in the clear, she suddenly began suffering from chest pains and fell onto the bar. This time she was sure it was a heart attack.
Linda then came to a huge decision – something which Elaine refused to consider.
What are the two disagreeing about this time, and will Elaine be ok?

Coronation Street 'confirms' new romance for unexpected duo

A potential new romance is starting to develop in Coronation Street. Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) has been in hospital ever since she took LSD at a party last week. The evening was hosted at the Alahan household, but it descended into disaster due to Lauren, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) all taking hallucinogenic drugs. Lauren consumed the drug and stumbled into the ginnel. There, a man asked if she was okay, but in her delirious state, Lauren believed the man to be Joel Deering (Calum Lill) and completely panicked. As her hallucinations got stronger, Lauren stumbled into the factory, where she believed that Joel had taken Frankie. Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) found her, and has continued to support Lauren in the aftermath. This was picked up on by Lauren's mate Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) a couple of days ago. She said she had no idea Lauren was so close to Aadi, and it was clear that Lauren hadn't really thought about this, as it just felt quite natural. More Trending In tonight's episode, Aadi remained consumed with guilt following the disastrous party. He attempted to tell Lauren the truth about the drugs, but he bottled it when she was nice to him, and said he shouldn't blame himself. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? To try and feel better about the situation, Aadi later told Lauren that he's going to lend her some money until she's back on her feet. EastEnders death 'sealed' as soap marks 'end of an era' - and it's not Elaine

There's a number of exits and changes taking place in Albert Square - and fans fear a death is in store for one fan favourite who has already confirmed their exit It's the end of an era in EastEnders as the Square is undergoing a number of changes. Clair Norris has announced she'll be leaving her role as Bernie Taylor this week, but Bernie isn't the only resident who's confirmed to be leaving Albert Square. Elsewhere, Elaine sparked fears after suffering a heart attack tonight - as she finally agreed to sell the pub with Linda. Last week, many feared the soap had foreshadowed Elaine's death along with her health struggles. However, now fans are certain it will be Felix Baker who meets his fate. ‌ Writer Daran Little described this week as the "end of an era" as he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "I've written tonight and tomorrow's #EastEnders There's a lot of Carters… and the end of an era." ‌ It was confirmed earlier this year that Felix would be making his exit from the soap, and tonight Bernie was trying to convince him to leave for Spain with her. However, Felix informed Bernie that he wanted to stay behind to move in with his partner, Johnny, when she let him in on a huge secret. She told Felix that Nish wasn't the one to kill Keanu after all, informing him of Johnny's mum, Linda, and The Six's involvement. It wasn't the only secret Felix learnt tonight. He also learnt Bernie had been stealing from Ravi and the Panesars, as he urged her to leave before he found out. With Felix being in on the secret, could he now be in danger from Ravi? Fans seem to think so. Taking to social media after the episode, one fan wrote: "I think Johnny and Callum might get together tbh. Also, the Bernie stuff.. I think she'll go missing and Felix will get on the wrong side of Ravi and meet his fate." Another responded: "Someone has to pay, and if it's not Bernie, it'll be Felix!" ‌ Earlier in the episode, Bernie was seen warning Felix to leave with her, as she warned him: "Get on the plane with me Felix, 'cos Walford is full of murderers." In March, it was revealed that Matthew James Morrison would be leaving the soap this year after three years. Upon joining, Felix, who also had an alter ego - Tara Misu - made history as Albert Square's first drag queen resident. Felix brought in whole new storylines with his brother Finlay, played by Ashley Byam, and dad Avery, played by Omar Lye-Fook. A BBC representative said in a statement shared with the Mirror at the time: 'We can confirm that Matthew will be leaving EastEnders later in the year. We wish him all the best for the future.'

Emmerdale's PC Swirling investigates as violent crime rocks the village

PC Swirling (Andy Moore) was back doing what he does best tonight – solving crime committed in the Emmerdale village. Falling victim to a horrific ordeal in this evening's episode was Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt). He had agreed to take Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) into Hotten to get a hire car but on the way, he had to stop due to Bear needing the loo. While Paddy waited, we were introduced to new character Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths). Paddy has met her before, but avoids her due to the fact she isn't the most welcoming person. As Celia wandered off, Paddy spotted a sheep caught in a fence. He jumped out of the car and set about freeing it, but the situation then dramatically changed when an aggressive dog approached and started barking. The dog leaped over the fence and attacked Paddy, badly injuring his arm. Poor Pads was rushed into theatre, leaving Bear and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) to anxiously wait for an update. Fortunately, Paddy was very lucky. As he laid in bed to recover, PC Swirling told him that they'd head to Celia's land to check the area out. Pads was then faced with a frustrated Bear. Moments after hearing how grateful his son was that he saved his life, Bear chose to absolutely verbally destroy Paddy. He commented on Paddy's mental health, called him a 'doormat', and reckoned people tip toe around him because they're worried he might feel suicidal again. 'So they are cruel to each other, but Bear, as he's in hospital, Bear calls him a pansy and calls him, you know, he's not a man', star Dominic Brunt shared. More Trending 'He says the worst things that a father can say to a son, really, and at the very worst time, and at his most vulnerable, and he's injured, and he wants to be looked after. But that's the thing about the miscommunication as well, because Bear is venting, he doesn't mean that, he's just saying it. He doesn't know what to say. He's worried about his son. 'He sees him there, and he wants it to go away. He wants everything to be right. And I think his way of saying it, his inarticulate way, is by saying, 'get out of bed, you pansy!'.' Paddy has made a massive amount of progress since that mental health storyline, but Bear's words hurt as much as that dog attack. He held his own while around Mandy and Bear but as soon as Paddy was left by himself, he allowed himself a moment to break down in tears. View More » As for Celia?
